What is the price range to change a new laser? Not a heavy PS2 user, only play about 3 times a week, max 3 hours per play. Any advice would be much appreciated

Just wanna ask, I've noticed my PS2 seem to have problems loading games. I'm currently playing Star Ocean III and sometimes I need to reset 2-3 times for it to load (either shows black screen or the red screen with message- Please insert DVD game). It occurs randomly, but I'm worried if the laser's wearing off. Bought it late December 2004, but the previous owner kept watching DVD movies with the PS2 for 4 months or so..and I heard it's not advisable to watch movies with the PS2 right?

Whoa, for older models it'll cost RM300 and they aren't even new? Mine's 50006 I think..I bought my PS2 for RM600, and if the laser's gonna cost half I might as well get another set?

QUOTE(cylon @ Mar 13 2006, 10:25 AM) Yeap..that's my point. Send my PS2 50006 for repair to tot31 for around RM 300 and sold it for RM 500...and bought myself a slim PS2. Then again isn't the slim PS2 not as good as the fat one? That's what I heard from a few people, such as the duration you can play etc. |

I think most likely your lens are dead, so you gotta change them.

DQVIII, correct? My PS2 (fat) can play it just fine. Probably the media problem?

Could it be your CD itself that's causing the problem?

Hoho, bought the cable from darkshadow? I'm using the normal composite cables for my Projection TV and it looks fine...or maybe because I'm not playing enough. Might invest in a component cable to see the difference..

Probably the media problem? Try changing with the shopkeeper.

Just curious if anyone here has played Shadow Hearts: Covenant with a component cable on PS2? It's odd that sometimes the colour 'fades' when I play it...

You can try asking Djinn in this forum, he should be able to help you. Is your PS2 the older fat type or the slim one?
