Hi all,

I purchased a set of kitchen cabinet from Ikea few days ago.
The problem is Ikea's contractors are all fully booked until mid September.
So i have to find my own contractor now, because i want these cabinets to be installed before hari raya.
Can anyone recommend me contractors (preferably with some experience installing Ikea's stuff) that are available at the moment. I imagine it might be hard to find one since it's festive season.

the work to be done isn't much.
the kitchen cabinet is L-shaped, 178cm x 202cm.

work would include:
- assembly of the cabinets.
- cutting the worktop to fit sink, water trap and tap.

and that's about it. i would do it by myself but i don't have all the necessary equipments.
if anybody has any contacts, please share it with me since i really hope to get this done by hari raya >.<

Thanks in advance for any help given.

this is so easy to do yourself - just rent the tools from a hardwareshop (for example CT hardware in tmn mega rents out professional tools if not mistaken). installation should be only a couple of hours even if you never installed one before since its only the base cabinets.

i have used the IKEA install-team before: they are really good. highly recommended to save the work. BUT: i used an outside once to dismantle and re-assemble a wardrobe. headache lah - cannot do it properly even though i provide manual to them. have to supervise and still can screw it up. so in the end i had to take it down another time and re-assemble myself. lucky for me the wardrobe was good enough quality to tahan another disassembly and reassembly.

erm really? that's what i thought too, that's why it would help if they have experience working on ikea's stuff.
this is the first time i heard of renting tools. thanks for the information.
but u see, i have to dig out a hole for the sink which i think is quite hard, scared ill screw up n there goes few hundreds..
ill keep this as last option though, thanks!

anybody else has contacts?

last time i almost needed a fret saw and some other tools. they got cement mixer and other pro tools. can even rent out a karcher from them (80 bucks per day if not mistaken). quite convenient.

anyway the hole for the kitchen sink is really easy to do - the sink comes with the required dimensions. use a drill to make an opening along the line or inside and then cut the peace out with a fret saw. make sure you stay inside the given line - its easy to cut if you place the board between two kitchen cabinets. vacuum the dust away while cutting. once you cut out the opening seal it kitchen-type silicone to prevent moisture seeping into the particle board. install kitchen sink after you fit in the particle board (easier to handle) and then install the outlets and cut the hole for the faucet if needed. i have done it twice before - two people can do the job just fine. only thing to be dilligent about is taking proper measures and maybe triple checking them just in case. dont want to waste a board right?

Most contractor will say no problem. Then problem come will blame the material. Strongly advice to get contractor doing Ikea furniture.
