There are LYN forumers who play men sports tongue.gif rugby...I thought most of you guys are just coach potatoes of F1 and EPL!

I'm currently playing for KL 'City Boys'@Bandaraya Dragon and my alumni Victoria Old Boys. The season will commence right after Hari Raya,watch out for KL 7's and the continuation of ANSARA's Alumni League.

We should have a thread of Rugby World Cup, no doubt,ALL BLACKS rules the pitch and this weekend will see the downfall of European pussies who are better of playing soccer@football...France and England.

I wonder why we bother calling it a local team when half of the players playing are Fijians,this is like EPF or NHL already. In NHL,teams like Dallas All Star, there's only like 1 guy who's from Dallas,others are from Sweden,Russia etc.

This is not how we bring up the standard of rugby in Malaysia. I'm currently playing for VI Old Boys and KL RU.

I wonder why the heck ASAS got into the idea of having 2 Fijians on their team? Fiji studied in Alam Shah? Crap.
Yon (MRU) should have a standing rule preventing imports to play in the Piala Agong or any local league like Selangor League.

I have nothing against import players, it's called the Pelican strategy,but I fear that we will end up like Singapore. They have hardly any local talent,most of the players are angmoh with PRs. We should strive to produce local talents.

I know these teams really want to win,who doesn't. In the last Jonah Jones, despite having Fijians, both ASAS,Cobra and NS got whip by the Hong Kong Dragons. It was either the Hongkies were a better team or they had more 'imported' players.

There are no major tournaments currently player.
But there is a league called the Liga Alumni,organized by ANSARA (Ex-MRSM Alumni). The league started before in October and continuing this month after Ramadan.

Last week's match:

MCOBA 3 - SMSOBA 30

This weekend's game on Saturday

STJOBA vs SMSOBA

As for the jerseys, Shahiran who was with Salbros and carries Carisbrook is now with Kooga. Salbros office is at Jalan Genting Klang,across the driving range,where as Kooga's office is at Brunsfield business park,in front of Cochrane High School.

Usually,Padang Utara,PJ. Usually Saturday afternoon 5pm onwards. Teams are on training because the 15-a-site season has not yet started.
The only league that is running right now is the ANSARA ALUMNI League,today I think STJOBA got thrashed by SAINSJOHAR.

Bunch of teams practice there,from one end to the other end of the field.
I know Raccoons always take up the left end of the field.
Malaysia National players will usually take the field closes to the Paintball Academy.
There are a few expats who also playing touch rugby.

Padang Merbuk,near Bank Negara is another venue.
There's Bandaraya Dragon and NS and few other teams too,usually on Friday or Saturday.


Other teams like BIB,usually take their training session at Victoria Institution's green (field) on Sunday afternoon.

Just join them for a game of touch.

Bersama ini disertakan borang penyertaan bagi Karnival Ragbi 10s Ansara Ke IV yang akan dilangsungkan pada 12 dan 13hb Januari 2008 di Padang Utara Petaling Jaya.

Selaras dengan matlamat Liga Alumni, penyertaan bagi karnival ini terbuka bagi pasukan-pasukan ragbi mewakili persatuan-persatuan bekas pelajar sekolah-sekolah Malaysia.

Syarat penyertaan adalah seperti berikut :



  1. Penyertaan terhad bagi para pemain yang tidak terlibat dengan pasukan Kebangsaan bagi tahun 2007.
  2. Penyertaan terhad bagi para pemain yang tidak terlibat dengan pasukan senior negeri di dalam pertandingan peringkat kebangsaan anjuran KRM sepanjang                    tahun 2007.
  3. Setiap pasukan dibenarkan menurunkan 3 orang pemain jemputan daripada persatuan alumni lain.
  4. Pemain yang terlibat di dalam NICC dan kejohanan berperingkat umur kebangsaan anjuran KRM bagi tahun 2007 hanya boleh mewakili persatuan masing-masing sahaja.

Yuran penyertaan adalah RM250 setiap pasukan dan semua pemain wajib mempunyai insuran peribadi.

Pasukan-pasukan terbaik juga berpeluang memenangi hadiah di dalam bentuk buku bagi perpustakaan bekas sekolah masing-masing. Bagi pertandingan edisi Ke III 2007 lalu Kelab Ragbi Ansara membuat sumbangan buku "Johny Wilkinson Play Rugby My Way" bernilai RM160 bagi perpustakaan  sekolah setiap pasukan yang mengambil bahagian.

Those of you ruggers from Victoria Institution Old Boys Rugby, training for 2008 matches will commence this Saturday 29th 2007 and every Saturday at 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm at VI Green.

FYI ruggers,

To kick start the new years,a joyous year ahead,KL Rugby Union will be having the first match of the season which is 'City Boys Rugby Challenge',7-a-side game venue at Padang Merbuk next to Bank Negara Malaysia on the 5th to the 6th Jan 08'. The game will start at 9.00am and end at 6.00pm.

Teams that have confirmed their attendance, Bandaraya Dragons,VI Old Boys Rugby,KUSESS Barbarian, MOR, KSS Kings,MCOBA Rugby and KL 7's.
So,make yourself available on that weekend and come down to Padang Merbuk for the game.

KL 'City Boys' Rugby Challenge Sat & Sun last week ended up with NS Wanderers winning the game.

This weekend 11 & 12, we have the ANSARA 10's happening at Padang Utara with 40 teams,Alumni,Colts and School and at the same time, UKM 10' in Bangi.

Among teams that will be playing in the ANSARA 10's - MCOBA,ASAS,STJ etc.

There will also be a 'special' match for ANSARA teams particpating,'Best of ANSARA'.

This year also,ANSARA will launch the 'Best of Alumni Rugby Team Awarad'.
The award will go to Alumni Team that have shown consistent records throughout the rugby calendar year and not only that, they must also demonstrate that they are also involve in social responsibility program like conducting rugby clinics for their alma matter. Prizes for the 'Best of Alumni Team Award' includes a full set Carisbrook jersey with the 'Award' embroidered to the jersey.

This year will be an exciting rugby year!

Congratulations to SMS Old Boys,SMS U19 and SMS school,they won all the categories.

As for ANSARA, congratulation to ANSARA Jasin and MRSM Terendak.
