Eh bro, the 2 units CAT6a cable bought from you are actually CAT6 only. Even it is written on the packaging and also the cable white sticker as CAT6, not CAT6a.
From the connector side, cables and pins are inserted to the end of the pin holes. This is very obvious proof of not >CAT6a

I just bought a true CAT6a cable, AMP. It is much fatter, and even bigger than power cable. It is impossible to insert the cable until the end of the connector pin holes.
The outer skin must be removed then only can insert to the connector pin holes, the copper inside is really thick.



How to settle this? One already opened, another 1 still in plastic.

We have got the information here for you after checking with the authorized source

The "Cat6A" Cable we provide you is directly from Tyco Electronics/AMP Netconnect. We aren't sure as to why the labels are Cat6 only, but in actual fact, the blue patch cable are Cat7 Standard Multi-Strand Patch Cable. Stranded cables are meant to have a smaller wire gauge, as for this cable we supplied you, its 26AWG. Rest assured that the patch cable are "Factory-Terminated", it's not locally assembled because for Cat6A standard, the RJ45 connector cannot be done "DIY" at the moment.

As for the 10XG Cat6 Cable you bought recently, that cable is a 23AWG (thicker than stranded cables). This is a Solid cable for pulling horizontal cable in your network. This cable cannot be terminated with a RJ45 connector, because AMP do not have that connector in the first place. The end of this cable is meant to be terminated on a Cat6A Shielded Modular Jack / XG Cat6A Shielded Patch Panel.

But we have heard of some people who successfully terminate the XG 10GB Solid Cable with a Shielded Cat6 Connector before, but that is 1 out of 10 cases that is successful, however we do not recommend our customers to do that as that is against the Cat6A standards by AMP.

As promised before, we will do a full 100% refund to you should you decide that the cable we supplied you with the part number # 1711079-2 is not satisfactory.

Below we attached a specification sheet from AMP for your referral. We have also send the original copy of spec sheet to your email for ref as well. The highlighted "Yellow" part number is the one we supplied to you earlier.

Yes you can use STP cable as an alternative, but the best is still to seperate the cables

how about the grounding? how do i ground the cable?

All the FTP cables comes with a drain wire where you need to roll it on the cover of the FTP Modular Jack and then use the foil to cover it up so that it makes contact. To understand better, pls see this video link I found HERE

If you think it's too hassle to do the termination, is there a way you can separate the audio cables away? Does your audio cable generate a lot of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) for you to use FTP cables ? From what I understand, home applications does not generate EMI that much till it interfere with data cables.

I can find a lot of video on how to terminate the cable, but i could not find any article on how to ground the shield, yet. Some articles were saying if the shield is not properly grounded, it will create a big antenna, which will collect more noise than shielding.
I am not sure also if the audio cable generates a lot of EMI. Some article also saying audio cable are on low voltage, low frequency, thus it should not interfere with data lines, even if they are running in parallel. So, i might want to try normal Cat6 UTP to save cost (RM1.5 vs RM5).
Can you pm me where is your store? I am also from Penang. Maybe i can pick up from your store, to save shipping cost?..

We do not advise customers to make joining through couplers like this. Your cat6 performance will drop. AMP do not carry such products atm.
Usually when ppl needed this is due to cable shortage n needed the join, so the best advise method is to connect/join using a Cat6 SL Modular Jack, cost Rm25. If u need more info call us ya. Tyvm.

You should always use "Solid" cable to lay all the horizontal cables in your house. The "Stranded" cables are softer on the jacket and it is mainly use to make patch cords that makes it easier for bending around in tight places. Price comparison, stranded is more expensive.

For data cabling whether you use "solid" or "stranded", it is ok to have bendings but do not over extend the bending till you have multiple 180 degrees.

Since you are doing renovation, you can ask your electrical/telephone contractor to pull the data cable for you. Ask them whether they know how to terminate
Cat5e/Cat6 point or not. Scope of work for them is to lay, pull and terminate the modular jack on the faceplate. Price will range around RM40-RM60 per point depending on your size of the house. Try negotiatie with them since they are there doing your electrical/telephone cable jobs.

Normally they can do it, and you can buy the materials for them to complete the job. That way, u'll save more costs then calling a network wiring contractor alone.
