I'd stay away from those Japanese buffet, it's just a channel for those high end restaurant to sell off the lousy parts.
I was Miyako (was inside of Sheraton Subang), when the chef told me about Japanese buffets. I sat at the sushi bar & chat up with the head chef who happened to be there. He even gave me samples of different parts to try, and I can really taste the difference between the good part & the lousy part.
If you do some maths, actually going ala carte could probably be cheaper.
