Well, I've got the above setup with a floppy disk too...

But the PATA disk is in a seperate hard disk cage which I am using upside down and inside out as I wish to use with a crossflow fan rather than an intake fan... Pics are more explainatory and there are more in the homepage linked to in my sig...

either the original CM cases did not have the frucking metal cages at the top or whoever owns this casing removed it, but it surely reduces ALOT of noise.

anyway, thread starter, the connectors on the mobo is already very well placed, still need help kah? laugh.gif

I think he meant 9 fans including the PSU, CPU and VGA fans...

*hopefully*

Else...that sure's hell a lot of fans.

Anyway... SATA's are MUCH easier to cable. I just gotten my WD2500KS (3rd HDD) and looking for black molex's now.

I know Vantec makes black molex kit but it dissappeared from their websites and from the shops here in taiwan. Anyone can tumpang some for me? tongue.gif

Anyway..I think we should have a pinned cable management thread to help out everyone.

So far, among the neatest rigs I've seen around LYN is prodigy's P160 (this fella dunno hilang where di...pics nowhere to be found) and Mac's workrig (considering the amount of stuff he's got in it).

DFI LANParty UT nF3 250Gb on cheap ATX casing

* One thing I hate about this Enermax FMA psu is that the 4-pin atx power connector is sleeved halfway together with psu's fan connector and PCI-e power connector, those should've made separately mad.gif
* Gotta hate the DFI cacat IDE cables
* Sunbeam's CCFL wire should have been a little bit longer, I cannot pull the inverter to the other side of the casing, nor hidding it inside the drive bay cage.
* The Thermalright XP-90 interferes a little bit with the 4-pin ATX connector, but it's fine enough.

Quite cantik already...but like you said. Get rid of the cacat DFI cables. Use regular flat IDE instead. If you can get those thin ones, lagi cantik cos you can fold it.

As for the sunbeam CCFL wire. No problem lar...I main sambung only with normal wire, that's why can reach far away places.

The CPU is cooled by a CoolerMaster Aquagate Mini. RM260 at Cycom at the moment (they are clearing stock as it is not very popular - a much underrated CPU cooler IMHO).

I don't think he's referring to cable sleeves, from the description it sounds more like Modder's Mesh pictured below:

user posted image

It's use is quite ubiquitous over at BitTech although I'm not sure if mnpctech ships over to Malaysia and I've not seen it locally. may be cheaper to buy a trashcan from Ikea and "harvest" the mesh for use in modding...

(edit)

btw - you're off-topic.

sorry silon, i oledi choosing the pic to compare now tongue.gif
Attached Image vs Attached Image

Attached Image vs Attached Image

Attached Image vs Attached Image

Attached Image vs Attached Image

Attached Image vs Attached Image

wat i did was:
side panel mod to plexi glass with 12cm fan
top panel mod 12cm fan
paint casing inside, outside, psu n fan
mod psu to 1 fan becoz too noisy for me
change cable to DFI rounded cable

pizzaboy, thanks for u comment, btw i'll try to change the cable, becoz so far this rig only left uv ccfl to light it up, i hvnt seen the effect, i'm swtiching from normal ide cable to DFI 1 coz i hope to hv more UV effect as i din sleeve my psu n other cables... will try to update the uv pic when my uv ccfl come hehe

for my paint, i only use 2 color, black n fluorescent orange... if i choose blue fluorescent, the naruto will change to sasuke definitely haha

holy sh!t. an Icute PSU!!! my god!! my eyes! my eyes!

btw, i dont really like fully transparent casings. you cant hide the cables and it lets you see unncessary things. a side window can allow you to focus on the main parts when you look at the casing...

@sidewinderz,
do u connect your TT UFO direct to the mobo or not? I connect mine direct to the mobo and it's not displaying the fan speed, but it's working fine. The LED fan grill also took off already.

I have a suggestion though.

Why not just get those plastic longkang thing (dunno what to call it) they use to lay network cables in the office. Get the biggest sized ones and lay them next to the crossflow fan opening... whack all the cables inside.

hey...i have that HEC case too! the outside of the case look exactly like the one in ur link. even the side panel's handle looks the same.....although my sidepanel comes with a pre-modded window.

but the internals of the case it totally different than yours man. nothing similar whatsoever..... does HEC makes inconsistent internal case designs or something? ive also seen another forumer using the same case but the internal is only slightly different than mine... but urs is a whole new thing dude

i assume thats an icute case or similar yes?

route your cables thru the side hole of your psu placement(there should be one as there is a piece of metal that folds out to support the psu itself)

well bro, ur case is quite well done already, if u want to hide those IDE and power cables, turn ur HDD the other way round, and those unused cables, jus tie them up in a bundle and put it on top

i suppose you can 'push' all those cables towards the front of the casing, between the whateverROM/RW and the HDD. im talking more towards the upper half so it wont block airflow. do you have space on the 'other side'? maybe you can push the cables over there, thats what many of us do. if your sidewindow is a custom job, then i'd say its 'highly unfortunate'. you shoudnt have the window cut so high because you can wrap ALL those cables to one huge knot and put them all up there without them being seen thumbup.gif thats what i still do... its the easiest! thumbup.gif

about that picture that ikan_semilang posted, i noticed the guy is using a single rail for all 4 HDDs? is that good?

i try not to mix the HDD rail with the gcard or cd/dvd/wahetevr/ROM drives... unsure.gif

the pic also shows its age: PATA cables? gcards that dont need an external power connector?

the swtich and usb cable, route them to the bottom of ur case

the 20pin ATX cable, find a cable tie and tie it at the upside of the mobo tray there

the back 12cm fan power cable, connect that at upside of the casing, behind PSU there got one free connector, if not long enough turn ur fan direction

where are ur second CCFL ?
CCFL a bit hard, decide that urself
might put the switch to the lowest and straighten those wires perhaps ??

Just route the sata power cable to the another side of ur casing, connect HDD from there
and connect ur vantec fan card power and ur fan power at other side also

If you want, can route your sata cable through the bottom of ur HDD, then connect to mobo at the back

dunno whether ur case at the other side got place or not la, if got just do so

just plainly my noobie opinion, what you want to do still depeds on you though sweat.gif
Btw, i didn't see any UV CCFL ??

i dun think the 24 pins PSU cable is long enough to be tied

abt the CCFL, how you fix it up??
use double sided tape included with the pack??

hmm...as for evilhomura89 and -vip3rleon9-, try to re-route your cables to the back of your mobo tray...and hide every single unused cable at any empty 5.25" tray....that should help clean it a lot.. smile.gif

ooooo....yeah...that mobo has excellent layout...using one muhself too... only thing that blardy annoys me is the 4-pin mobo connector....friggin difficult to reach with the xp-120 on. have to take out my GC just to get to it.

that and also the sata ports 3 n 4. wish they would have placed them at the side or top of the mobo.. good choice by the way thumbup.gif

the blue version does not react to UV lighting sweat.gif

its a coolermaster [sniper and all lianli fans!!] gaytorian.

well, as you can see with the sidepanel on, you can barely see it thumbup.gif

the camera was placed on the table, if you were to sit on my chair, youd be looking down on the casing and those cables would magically fade out of sight.

i dont like to hide it behind the mobo tray because you can see all the mess of cables going 'down there'. theres a small gap between the PSU bay and the mobo tray that if you were to push cables down there, you can see it.

i suppose you could have the intake fan on the blowhole run at extremely low speeds, as low as possible. it should be enough to feed the CPU HSF with cool air and running it at super low speeds would prevent creating excessive noise

huh??? shrinks are easy....just slip them over the sleeves and then just use lighter/hair dryer on them and itll shrink....hence the name 'heatshrink'.

i find that the best way is to sleeve...cable tie the ends then slip heatshrinks over the cable tie and heat. the cable tie will help ensure that the heatshrinks stay in place. but of course without cable tie will look a little neater la.

n the heatshrinks that come with the vantec sleeving kit sucks...theyre too thick. but they work nonetheless.

hmmmm i guess youre right. should have payed more attention to the instructions, and yes, the vantec's heatshrinks being a b!tch to install was also among the main reasons why i just left it alone.

i guess im going to take the path of least resistance... laugh.gif

actually the Vantec heatshrink works quite well with me
just more heat need to be applied, IMO

The darker heatshrink is Vantec while the lighter green is from uglyvamp
I change the Vantec one coz I want to split 2 of the wires where as i used to heatshrinked them together

well, if you can hide the wires well, there is no such need to sleeve the wires though, IMO
but if you really intend to sleeve it, then no point to hide it..... sweat.gif

haha.. i agree with littlelinnet.. if u have ample space to hide your wires, there is no point for u to sleeve ur cables, as no one would be able to see them when they are hidden right?? only if your cables aren't that easy to hide n some of it are exposed, then u should sleeve your wires..

just my 2 cents.. thumbup.gif

actually to a certain extent u can still do cable folding with rounded IDEs ler....i remember seeing it once online....forgot the link already though. but i remember the guy on the site saying its easier to route rounded cables than ribbon cables. only thing is u have to figure out a way for the rounded cables to stay the way u arrange them la... ribbon cables are easy coz once u fold them itll stay that way.

because of that site....heres what i did with my rounded cables.

user posted image

from this angle it looks abit weird la...but if directly from the side u can barely see the cables there. and the floppy cable (the top one on the mobo) also helps to cover up the fugly 20 pin mobo cable. cant see the 20 pin anywhere right?? biggrin.gif brows.gif

and is that carbon fibre?? drool.gif

@madman...
who's pic is that?? i think this is the second time i'm seeing some1 using dual sleeving color to sleeve their cables..the last time i saw is some forumer with a blue/red sleeves...really cool man drool.gif

hhhmmm..... doesnt look like u have any space between uroptical drive bay and ur inner side panel.... hhhmmmm.....

here goes...

1/ dust off ur pc...especially ur proc hsf... wah liao!
2/ get some cable ties and cable tie base (will show a pic of this tomorrow by editing this post in case ur not sure which one it is)
3/try to mount ur hdd the other way round if u can, meaning the cables will be in the inner side...

hmmm...

best is to try hiding ur cables in the cdrom bay if u can. might have to reposition ur cdroms in order to accomodate the cables. as for ur 4pin atx cables... no idea... i have the same problem with that one oso coz my 4pin placement is at the same place as urs..heh

cable management doesnt necessarily mean u have to hide ur cables.... just as long as its arranged neatly and in order it can be good oso.

hence the reason i asked u to get cable ties and cable tie base

pix like sheet coz taken using k700i in bad light. hope u get the idea

the bottom part of it is actually a strong double sided tape...so stick it onto the inner side of ur case sidepanel. and use them to tie your cables and route them. theyre very useful. i myself using it...

u can also tie the cables to ur cdrom bay, just find what ever suitable hole in the metal to put the cable tie through.

ikan, i tried looking around jln pasar for something like those, can easily remove the wires without any cutting involved...but i couldnt find any. for some reason those things aint easy to find.

anyway, all i found in jln were cable tie base (i posted pix of it earlier). its simple to use. only downside is that once in...u cant remove the wires without cutting the cable ties. doesnt really matter though...coz it works just as well

EDIT:
heres the latest pic of muh cable management... this is the best i can do already in this case... coz the friggin case is has only ONE side panel that can be opened. the other side is riveted in and is a one piece metal with the top and bottom.

Why not do some cutting?

Does anyone have any idea where I can get crimps for the 20pin connectors? They're impossible to remove, and so they have to be cut. And they don't look good if I cut and rejoin... I'd need the heads too.

And does anyone know where I can get Molex crimps and heads? If I can get these items, I'll show you the best cable management ever..... Everything cut to exact size.

do u mean the 20pin mobo connector?it's hard to get those pin removal tools unless u wanna do sum bussiness wit it..i mean since it's kinda expensive for jus a removal tool..

anyway if ure really lookin for it try www.vampzone.com ..he's a fellow forummer too - vampzone..he got both molex n 20/24 pin removal tools..

i jus made on myself out of useless screwdriver n my beloved roto tools..still much to improve..takes quite my time too..

hope it helps smile.gif

can just use staples and the screwdriver... google for cable sleeving guides. theyll have pix of how to use the staples. some use pins.

molex heads can be bought from from forumer uglyvamp (not vampzone..thats his webbie). as for the metal heads in them molex... can also be bought at electrical shops in ss2 or jln pasar. i bought the male molex metal connecter heads in ss2 for 40cents per piece.

and what do u mean cutting? i dun wanna cut my PSU wires man...i kinda like them being long biggrin.gif

I've tried the staples thing. Apparently normal staples are too large, or I'm doing it wrongly.

Even if it could be done, I'd still need to cut and rejoin the wires.

Which is why a crimper would be perfect... and also the heads of course (or whatever they're called).

I don't mind the cost, as long as all my future PCs look almost cableless tongue.gif

BTW, I've done abit of it on my molexes, but although its neat, my sleeving makes it look crap, so I'm not posting any photos.

I dont think there will any power lost, since electric current can travel a very long distance ( Well forgot the exact distance but something like 20KM ) Just make sure that all the extention and molex are in good condition then u are good to go. But my advice is to custom make one, by buying some bare wires, then extend the wires on the splitter to your desired lenght. By doing that your cable will be much nicer, and neater. But becareful when extend the wires, as joining the wrong wires can fry your hardware, so dont do it unless u know what u are doing. wink.gif

U may use any color of wires. But just make sure it's following exactly same connection like the PSU's molex as guide. Some ppl may not like yellow color, so can change into orange. tongue.gif

Later u could also sleeve the wires. Looks nicer~~ wink.gif

All wires are the same, but where it connect to is not. U can use all same color wires to extend, but when u join them up make sure yellow to yellow, red to red and black to black, then u will be fine.

if u wanna get that so called 'classic' look like snipers casing susah wor...coz his case isnt some chrome sticker on the mobo tray..... the removable mobo tray is actually a mirror finished chrome. and the other interior is black.

his case is the OEM of the AKASA ECLIPSE-62. theyre both EXACTLY alike.... only difference is that snipers case doesnt have the aksa logo in front.

n i wan this case so badly!!! cant find it in malaysia man..sheesh

@ikan
ur case is clean...very clean... but ur on bare minimum hardware man...dun have much inside biggrin.gif nevertheless still very clean... is that a chieftec case?

U can c how to make ure own HDD cage here.
It's by my idol Tribaloverkill. He da man. Look at the final version right at the bottom of the page. Mirror polished alu HDD cage. Awesome stuff.
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=988088

Or u can get an old case, cut out the HDD cage n use that to mod. Or u can make it out of acrylic. So many ways to mod. It's all in the imagination. If u can think it up, u can make it.

Neat. Very neat I must say.

As soon be pointed out by 3/4 the members of LYN, the curly spaghetti sata needs to be readjusted.

Either use a shorter SATA cable or throw the hardisk into a reverse position. THat way you can get the sata cables to come from the back.

thx man smile.gif

but, how to reach 2d hdd's connectors if they are fitted the other way round?can lay no fingers coz the intake fan so dem near wif the hdd liao. shakehead.gif

then it leaves me wif d 1st option ryt? I'm not sure wats the shortest length of sata connector available in the market. long ones do look tempting but once they go into my casing, rclxub.gif how to manage em.

gez i should juz hide d excessive part of the blue sata connector to the other side. juz like wat i did to the upper sata drive. no point buying uv reactive sata connector then i gez. sweat.gif

gd morning guys. neway, last nyt I spent 2 hours to figure out how to manage those sata cable area. thus, i came to this kinda method.

user posted image
i shorten the gap between those 2 sata power connector. thank God my Noisetaker's sata power heads are lyk the clip-ons kinda thingy. so, repositioned the sata hdd nearer and the measure the gap between those two hdd.

user posted image
found another stock sata cable from Abit. I bundled it together and dat was wat I came up wif. Plan to sleeve the cable wif a black sleeve later on to look lyk this.

personally, i started wif an observation 1st. then kno ya hardwares (casing's chassis, cable length). then seek for options (the best way to smack ya cacings into the ryt places). then rely heavily on ya creativity.. uhuhuhu. I ain't paying to touch my lovely sweetheart's organs u kno vmad.gif .. my luvly Cavvy64 drool.gif.

but seriously bro, u can start by observing other ppl's work of art. then add sum of ya own creativities.. dat should do. once u n ya sweetheart get along, u'll juz get the wisdom how to treat her..*ehem, u kno wat i mean? rolleyes.gif

this is the best cable management done inside a m-atx casing n with non-sleeve psu, where there's only 1x 5.25" optical drive slot to hide all the psu cable, others just hv to hide under mobo sweat.gif

anyway i feel this is a great success, my fren like it rclxms.gif

Cut a hole behind your mobo tray.
Push as many cables as possible to the back of the case.

Fold the IDE cables and push it under your hardrive.
Else, slice them up and cable tie them. Then pull it to the edge of your case.

The cables, can also be pushed into the 5.25" slots if you refuse to cut a hole on your case.

woh, how come ya casing got 1 hell of a spacious mobo tray ar? or was it ya mobo is kinda small? rclxub.gif

i can see a lot of cable ties involve.. not planning to sleeve, my man?
the molex for gfx card, y not connect it from the back of ya hdd tray? so dat u can also hide the molex for ya upper hdd, n ya intake fan as well.
the red sata connector, try reroute it to appear from under ya bottom hdd. as for me, i wud prefer for the gap between those 2 hdds to be clear.

gez datz all from me,till i haf mo ideas.. tongue.gif

I think what you can do if u are scared of sleeving using those sleeving kit .... maybe u could just heatshrink it... rclxm9.gif

it is much cheaper then sleeving kit as well...all u need to do just fit through the cables and get a hair dryer to shrink it to the size of ur cables....done !!

for better result keep ur zip tie so that after the heatshrink shrinked it would not move around ... thumbup.gif

as for the sata cable u could route from bottom instead of going through the gap between two HDDs...it is better for airflow as well... icon_idea.gif

same goes for the rear exhaust fan power connector and the gc power connector if u could get longer cable.... sweat.gif

as for the IDE cables if u dont want it to be so obvious u could actually fold it in zip zap manner and hold it with some tapes...the best is u could also just heat shrink it for better holding.... cool.gif

ee.e.e.e.e..e.e..e.e.exhaust?shocking.gif datz lyk the WHOLE 9 YARDS man.. ahhahaa.. so far u tarik ar? what i normally do wif the exhaust fan cable is to bring it to the back of the mobo via the gap at the PSU area.. then, behind the mobo, u can cincai bocai connect to any molex loh.

I support Doom's idea regarding the heatshrink thingy but u hafta remember 1 thing bout heatshrink, is to use proper size heatshrink to make it too nice.. if not, it'll be lyk the blue heatshrink i used for my SATA connector, which ianho once talked about. back then, i got not enuff heatshrink to play wif... ahahahha.

If I were u, I'll juz spray the ATA cable (UV mebbe) and drop some kewl stickers on it... it looks awesome to me already as, if itz in dark, it'll look like a panel... 2 panels in ya case....juz make sure it is straighten remarkably ar... uhuhuhuh. then stick ya computer sticker or wat not...since i think ya ATA cable is nicely position near the mobo tray liao.

if everyone can focus on the 2nd pic now... CLASS~~~ your attention pls... tongue.gif .. the Power LED, Speaker blablabla connectors can be sleeved lyk the those black heatshrinked cables u got beside em... sleek n neat.. black long heatshrink + grey short ones, juz lyk factory-sleeved..

That's why it is easier to heat shrink them sleeve since u dont need to remove the molex connector ..... while heat shrink only need to get the desired size only ...

impressive. how did you hide the exhaust fan's wire?

also, the USB/PWR/HDD LED wires arent going out of the casing, is it?

edit: oooh, its a liberty PSU. i suppose it was less time consuming since you didnt have to hide the bulk of the unused cables? id be getting one in the next few days along with a couple of new stuff. i will post pics here when im done laugh.gif

yes, its been a very long time laugh.gif

i suppose our sifu here does not want to disclose info on how he hid the cables, so im going to add to the speculation laugh.gif tongue.gif

he said no additional holes were made, but theres nothing to say that the holes werent already made for him. i suppose he just pulled the cables back behind the mobo and then routed it to the front panel underneath the PATA cables, or even behind the drive itself. i suppose the same was done for the 4pin CPU power cable.

of course, he could have made 23rd century modifications to send power to the mobo wirelessly, and all these cables are just for show whistling.gif

yeah, the xfx is just a beauty. i expected a green PCB but it came in black. other nice touches include the 'backbone' at the side, coloured in black as well. the black extends to the backplate, where the DVI connectors are nvidia-green. really nice stuff.

oh, and the box would make any X-men fan proud. XfX's signature X-shape is really eXtraordinary. i counted 4 'X'es laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

im on both cards, music with the 0404 and HL2:DM with the audigy [the connectors are as loose as the teeth on an >80 year old person tongue.gif].

i took a pic without them. it looks cleaner this way, i took another one with, but like i said, im still having *issues* that i need to solve grumble.gif

I'm not sure where to post this but I'm sure most of you have similiar problems with cables and wires running all over your table.

Anyone find a neat solution to hide those wires?

I've already gone wireless where ever possible such as using bluetooth keyboard and mouse but I still have a lot of wires.

1) 4 wires for sattelite speakers + 1 for speaker remote + 2 for front and rear input + 1 for subwoofer power

2) 2 power cable (1 for CPU and 1 for LCD) + 1 power adaptor cable for wireless router/modem + 1 phone wire from wall to router/modem.

3) 2 USB cables (1 to LCD and 1 to my digital cam dock)

Anyone wanna show pics of their cbale management so I have some ideas?

well, you certainly can do better. first of all, those USB/firewire extentions should be kept unless you really need them. if you really DO need them, put them to the lowest slot. that should ease alot of the eye sore laugh.gif

secondly, as SeLrAhC mentioned: the sata cables. you can do what i did to by tucking them to the 'other' side [pics on the top of the page]. currently, they just look like onion rings!

apart from that, just a little here and a little there and you'd be all set thumbup.gif

no problem as long as u fit it properly and the alignment of ur mobo to the tray is perfect... nth wrong would happens... icon_idea.gif

previously i had bad alignmnet of mobo and the tray which causes the gc and sound card having difficulty in slot in and take out with out much force... sweat.gif

so be cautious of the alignment when screwing it down... icon_rolleyes.gif

Should be nice enough since the cables are not long enough for better routing and there isnt much space for routing as well.. thumbup.gif

those wires can be better with some UV sleeve notworthy.gif

Easy oni the C5. There's 6 plastic knobs behind the panel inside the ROM n HDD cage there. Squeeze the knobs with a plier then push it out.

i'm using my bare fingers oni to open the front panel woh... havin a plier is a bonus anyway... reduce the pain.. yet my fingers still get the job done... ahahahha.

and regarding the sleeve,u can juz use the typical sleeve to sleeve em.. but i'm not sure how will it look like exactly, in the end...
