Hi all,

i need some advise on unit trust matter. I had invested some amount into my fund and i got this email from the agent.

:Pls be informed your bond funds u have invested with us is now making a 3.7 growth @ 666.83 profit as at 12/10/2011 closing price.

Meanwhile, would like to suggest to average down your cost by placing additional investment of 40% of your initial investment. The market sentiment is very volatile for the last quater of 2011. The initial cost was 0.6066(NAV) when invested at 1sy quater of this year. The latest NAV of this fund is at 0.516. Thus, with this additional investment it will lower down the cost of 0.6066 as well. It will also helps the investor to breakeven the profit when the NAV surges.

Can anyone pls explain me abt this and your advise pls.
I appreciate for your time. Thanks.

QUOTE(desertkids @ Dec 29 2011, 05:02 PM)
ur agent even not call u out for discuss/explanation 2u?

based on da little info i get above..

ur agent wan u invest more into the fund u buy..because the NAV per unit price is lower(0.516) compare to 0.6606(assume ur ori NAV when u buy) which means u make loss now! tats y i curious y ur agent say u make gain?
so assume now u make loss..u cn minimize ur loss by lowering ur total investment cost, look at exp below

ur initial investment - 10k
ur initial unit - 10000/0.6606 = 15137.75 unit

ur current investment value(if u sold now) - 15137.75 x 0.516 = 7811.08 (u loss 2.2k)

so if u top up another 40% of ur initial value now(4k)
new invest unit - 4000/0.516 = 7751.94 unit
total unit in hand - 15137.75 + 7751.94 = 22889.69 unit
so ur average price per unit is 14000/22889.69 = 0.6116

so ur agent mean u invest more now so u get gain more if da NAV rise more than 0.6116.

sorry the info i get from you is very limited so i duno assumption above is right or not.

Another assumption i can mk from ur statement is...
ur fund is gain since u buy the fund. but current NAV is lower than NAV of Q1..so when u buy more unit at this low price, mean even da price get fall again ur loss oso not tat significant cz ur average value per unit is lower.

just my 0.000000000000002cents.. thumbup.gif
