It is not really a good idea to time the market. But i think one should have a proper asset allocation and it depends on your risk preference too. Myself prefer conservative portfolio at the mean time.

QUOTE(felixmask @ Feb 22 2012, 04:21 PM) Which equity fund recommed after the GE. And the best timing to switch from Bond to Equity?(1-?? month after the GE) Dont time the market. Let the market run by itself. If got big drop, invest. If keep going up, it means you are buying at a higher price. Currently the CI kinda high. Defensive portfolio like 60/40 bond to equity not bad. Or more kiasu abit 70/30 depend on your risk appetite. |

QUOTE(dewVP @ Mar 7 2012, 08:23 PM) Mind sharing what you meant by 3 stages? Would appreciate it loads. Okay i give u an example. KLCI now is 1578 and you have 100k in bondSo far my portfolio is 60/40. Ha! Divide it into 3 stages, that would mean 3 entry points. The purpose is to spread the risk in case the market is still dropping. We cannot buy at the lowest price but possbile to buy at low price. First stage, when the market drop to 1400 points, put in 40k Second stage, when market drop to 1250 points, put in another 40k Third stage, when market drop to 1000 points, put in rm20k( by this time you maybe got more cash in hand already, so maybe can put more) This is just example. Which point to entry is subjective to your own risk appetite. |

QUOTE(wongmunkeong @ May 18 2012, 10:11 PM) Nope, not yet. Target between 10-15%? It's now only 4% to 5% drop from the max KLCI (recently hit a highest point mar). 4% to 5% is does not even cover service charges if cash investment I prefer shooting a barrel of fish |

Hi jonproperty, i assume you are an agent. Do you mind to share what kind of entry and exit rules do you advise for your client? We got master wongmungkeong to share his ideas and if you glad to share yours, it will be beneficial to the readers. And the best part, we might be able to combine the ideas.

Public regular saving fund
3 years 58% 5 years 42% most local funds perform like that. So for passive investor, it is good for them to invest for long term. But from there they wont learn anything it is like dumb in money and wait for it to grow. A real investment should have minor and major adjustments depending on the markets. The above scenario is the best example to show that longer doesnt mean better. But it still shows that UT does generate money over long term. Infact some bond perform around that with much much lower risks. |

Sigh. This year market is so bad. My funds value almost the same since 6 months ago. Bond up, equity drop and finally no loss no gain.
Anyone want to top up smallcap before it never reopen again? This post has been edited by mois: Jun 21 2012, 04:22 PM |

I wonder why those underperformed manager didnt get sack for their poor performance? I mean, these fund managers might have CFA and a floor full of analysts, yet some street investors can perform better than that?
