Don't mean to hurt your feeling, but everytime i see people wanting to put fish in filterless system,
i really 200% disagree with it. same like those people who put goldfish in a bowl.

fish are living beings, as a pet, no matter how small they are, they are animal and need proper
living space. its like i shove you in my closet to live, u happy or not?

ANY fish, including guppies, should live in an adequate space with cycled water tank and
with filter. if u cannot provide these, then don't rear fish. nuff said.  rolleyes.gif

sure. that is fair enuff for them. we care for them, their support us by following their nature ecosystem..no pollution then.huuu..

prefer to put a lot of amino shrimp crew than otto.amino team always like to investigate anythng that i put in a their tank. lol.even their chase my mini puffer. btw i 've seen somewhere in taiwanese blogger about her goldfish wearing a 'clothing'. wtheck is that =_=

who got this plant?

user posted image

Utricularia graminifolia a.k.a Chendol plant: belongs to the most interesting water plants. It is carnivorous and creates an attractive green carpet in the foreground within a couple of months. Utricularia graminifolia may be difficult to start up but once it has gotten a firm grip in the aquarium, it offers a unique experience for the aquarist

does anyone have this plant? i want to buy it. looks cool in my aquarium. rclxm9.gif

chendol...plant???

happy chinese new year everyone! im worried about my fish because my guppies having babies 2 days ago, now have to go blk kg for a week, hope the food timer can handle it and the fish can hold it T.T

well..guppies fry is easy to care about compare with mini puffer. put brine shrimp liquid food or just let it eat uneaten adult food. huhu. food timer isn't a good idea for me

- i used to have a carpet with this plant. check the first page of this thread for my old tank photo. UG... huh, IME and personal view... it;s not a hard plant to at all and in fact, after that tank, i SERIOUSLY dont want to have it anymore in any of my tank. hahahahahah!!!! it's a PITA-type plant. it even refuse to go away and keep growing even there's just one little small leaf left in my tank floating, it'll grow into a floating bush if wasnt taken out. basically IME, it will just grow no matter where u plant it (tie like moss, foreground, or even floating on the surface).
er..btw i got this from your post. huhu..oh..then keeping this plant without daily trimming would be a disaster? some1 said this plant is not cheap? so do you still got this plant in your tank? i wanna buy it. maybe i can add this plant on my sister tank if it wasn't for my tank. tie it on moss ball and put it somewhere in her tank. then he won't bark at me anymore once it grow biggger and bigger rclxm9.gif

@usermode - BW has increased their price due to increase of production cost. Which LFS selling BW ferts?

A little update on G Series - Snail Killer:-

I dose the liquid close to the snail to watch the response. Basically the little snail is stuck to my tank glass and i drip 1 drop close to the area. Within a min, the snail curl up into the shell. I continue to monitor for about 10-15mins and the snail is now dead. 100% effective and highly recommended for those with snail issue. My test subject is ramshorn snail. My upcoming experiment is to use it against other snails.

i do add mini puffer to clean up all siput related problems. clear within 1-2 days. once finished, put them back to their own tank.but just in case, if u haven't force-train (let them puff) your mini puffer, don't add them in any community tank. their aggressive against other fish even it capable to take down any bigger fish. lol. what a weird fin-nipper kid

Puffer is good but I cannot use them in my situation. I have many shrimplets.

try mini puffer then. my mini puffer seems ignored shrimp. except the young one. that would be his food. u can buy it for rm 1.50 per/puffer.

Aaarrgh... Have enough of DIY CO2 leakages.. Now have BBA in my nano tank.

try hard based container. that would fit it for sure. smile.gif

here's the thing about UG from my experiences, it's an adaptable plant. it will adapt to ur tank condition no matter what the condition is. high lights, low lights, no lights (never tried), tied, buried or even floats. the old leaves from previous condition might melt but while it;s melting, a new leaf will start to grow in ur current tank condition and spreads. if the old leaves melted before the new leaf come out, then you will lose the plant which in my tank, that didnt happened when new leaf come out earlier before the whole patch melted.

wow!! what a tough plant! then im prefer to have bba inside my tank unsure.gif

I kept mini puffer before and they are definitely not shrimp safe. They even bit off my cardinal tetra tail. Now I am keeping Rainbow Threadfin and it is even higher risk to keep puffer.
maybe that just in my case. they friendly against shrimp. back then, i always force they 1st and 2nd generation. so, finally the 4th generations are friendly..i let the baby play with guppy babies. since then. no mini puffer in my community tank kill any fish or even nip their fin. except they kill shrimp baby

=_=

dear Cfus,

1. what test kits do u use? any recommendations?

2. fertilizers?any recommendations?

3.a) what kind of lighting do u suggest for 1.5' tank?
b) im currently using 11w+11w pl-s daylight bulb. (kinda DIY) is it enough?
c) what category do it fell into? low? medium? high? do i need CO2 injection with that?
*

[/quote]

what kind of test kits u need, depend on several factor too. but mostly, ph test kit is recommended. some fish require more attention when adding in a community tank. try API HIGH RANGE pH TEST KIT.

Feetilizers? if already setup a tank + have substrate..

1) if u dont mind to rescape your tank, then get set of ADA fertilizer : bacter 100, turmaline bc, clear super, penac w + p, etc. quantity, depend on size of you tank.

2) if u lazy enough, go buy multi bottom or iron bottom. can get them as low as rm 3.30. put it in your substrate. hahaha

i alwasy put any new plant i just buy in a testing tank. water condition is setup definitely for shrimp. before i put those plant, i put glass shrimp (shrimp rm 2.00 ) first. then let those plant and shrimp for 2 hours. the longest time i made, around 3-4 days. if most of those shrimp survive, then those plant is save to put in your tank. the best result i gained so far, by putting 1 sakura shrimp. i let it for 5 hours(basically im testing for whole day).

glass shrimp is cheap. can get i bucket for rm 2

6__9

well..sometime when i buy any plant, there's alot of hydra. aqua east at midvalley, have hydra in their tank ( last month ). careful when choosing any plant. tank which is near to live coral for selling tank.

hye all, i'm a noob.

this is my tank 45liter 28cm w X 30cm h. basic setup. some pebbles, got 3 betta, 4 otocinclus, 1 SAE, 2 corydora, 3 emperor tetra. this is not a CO2 setup. just some java ferns, anubias nana, some long weed like plant, water hyacinth.
--->click me to see my tank

last month, my oto laid a lot of eggs sticking at the tank glass. after 2 days, all eggs seems like to grow fungus and my SAE ate all the eggs.
--->click me to see oto eggs
my question is, in future if my otos starts to lay eggs again, what sould i do? coz after i wake up from sleep, suddenly got eggs all over my tank.

what a luck wink.gif

btw, i don't have any experience with this as all my oto eggs basically dissapear in 1 day after breeding. i think the one who did this, is sae or..amano i think... there are several algae eater species in my tank. and it is possible that they eat it. once you see it, then carefully transfer them to other tank.
