seems like anubias leaf, common been attacked by bba
trim it let the new leaf grow, what other plant u hv?
slow growing plant easy to be infected by bba
perhaps u can stop dosing step 3 n put it under shady area

ur light is ok if u only hv slow growing plants
since u r using ADA stuff, try use pyton git
u might refer the book of ADA as guide
*
My tank all is slow growing plant , you mention the slow growing plant easy affect by BBa , what is the full name of BBa ?

The slow growing plant can stand with 8 hour lighting with 2 x 36w tube ppl light ?

Is your guy got install the bubble machine turn on when the co2 shutdown ? I heard someone say we need have bubble at night to generate o2 , is that truth ?

BBA can also be known as : Black Brush Algae/Black Beard Algae/Red Algae
I dont understand the 3rd question  tongue.gif  sorry for my noobness

*
Luqee, Thanks for sharing and the buble machine i means is air pump.
I heard someone say when at night the CO2 stop , the plant need o2 to process. So air pump help to process o2 at tank.

However the BBA really annoy me , i dont know what is that because over fertilizer or lighting , as mention by forum member sisaiko and ciohbu mention 4 hours lighting contidion sound like not the issue for BBA.

between should i stop using ADA step 3 green brighty ?
Willm it help the BBA issue.

Hope your guy who are face this issue before can comment and advice on this.

Below is my tank . 3 years already the plant still poor.

What soil is that... seems like your soil lack of fertilizers
*
That is sand , last time I use soil for three years , it have same BBa issue. Because of thought soil dirty and less fertilizer so change to sand and use ADA product step 3 with brightly k and shape fertilizer. Will less of fertilizer can cause algae issue ?

how often u clean ur filter?
u can try stop fert TE(step 3) n see how is the effect
*
oo , i clean the filter 4 to 6 month 1 times. is that problem ?

i change the water every 1 or two week. recently i change water every week , because i want see the plant grew healthy.

Is the sand will cause the issue ? because i saw some aquarium with only sand also.

sorry, i got no algae issues in mah noob tank till now, maybe my tank is too low tech,
no ADA or any good soil(just poor mans gravel) and no ferts(just poor mans fert-fish poo + excess leftover fishfood, gonna use good fert one day though).
but my turtle container already got those Blue Green Algae, maybe my turtles water condition are too poor+no filter, too much turtles poo
^ the background, what do you use for it? looks like a moss wall to me, right?

holland sand/artificial silica sand calvin?
*
The backgroud is a artificial wall , is look better than traditional wallpaper backgroud.

Your plant is not growing... I face this issue before

you plant is fighting with alge and if your plant did not receive the enough nutrient (co2/fert/light/etc) alge will take over...

your task is simple..

make sure the water has enough nutrient / suppliment

your soil provide proper fertilizers/nutrient for the roots to absorb

Enough lighting and co2

Flow rate to bring co2 to plant

Sand has very poor fertilizers or nutrient... I suggest adding tablet fert to the plant root (or near the roots)
*
i think you point the right thing , my question is "ADA brighty K" ", "green brighty special shade" and "green brighty step 3" , is not enough ?
So do i need stop to pump ADA step 3 ?

i plant mostly is petite nana , it is slow growing plant and it not require to put into soil. I tight it at the wood mostly.

Perhaps , any fertilizer or suppliment you can recommend me to ensure my plant grewing healthy.

My plant tank is 3 years old , change water filter every 4 to 6 month , change water every 1 or 2 week, co2 is 3 bubble per second.

Can anyone recommend any fertilizer should use ?

Slow growing plant does not mean they do not consume fert just they do not grow that fast...

Try this... do not put ADA on the water instead get tablet form and feed directly to the plant roots this will promote plant grow and starve the alge...

3bps i think is too much reduce to 2 or 1 bps my old 3footer uses 1bps

change 20% water every week...
lastime I use sera tablet fert... dont think can find anymore...
*
I will try this with tablet form feetilizer and reduce co2 to 2 bps. Between , Just reduce my confuse . ADA product is not fertilizer ?

ADA product is actually nutrient for plant (take it like vitamin and supplement) to add into water to replace nutrient in the water that has been absorbed by the plant... well you dont have to put it if you change your tank water daily hahaha (too hassle)

but plant need nutrient and fertilizers... same like human also laaa you cannot survive just by drinking vitamin water (orange juice) hahaha you need food also maaa....

Added on March 5, 2012, 9:06 amPrevious I have use this product very good stuff

sincerely , anywhere can find this sera tablet form ? any one can introduce me where to buy or any other suggestion. Since my tank only sand without soil. I will just insert the tablet under the sand.

How you guy manage your old soil (three years old) which is no fertilizer at all , if only insert the fertilizer tablet into the soil , how long it can last ?
