If your side have, can someone help buy and send to me? of course I'll pay for postage smile.gif

Can't
Live plant needs soil. I had this question before until i asked the LFS about it smile.gif
unless you can find others like marimo (cladophora moss ball but more like algae than plant!) which don't require soil but may be better with running water & filtration or best with CO2

Btw, I don't have plants in my aquarium. Can ppl like me who don't plant but do have fish pet join in here? Cos nowadays all the topics are mostly on planted aquarium. What happen to ppl like me who just have an aquarium with river stones eh? cry.gif

QUOTE(outsider @ Jan 15 2012, 05:44 PM)
want to ask, i just fill up my small tank with small stone (coral stone), can i decorate some live plant on it? unsure.gif

very clueless in this live plant  sweat.gif

btw, the links to the guides, hotfile pdf download by TS is expired in the first few pages. Anyone can share on that again?
thx

QUOTE(usermode @ Jan 15 2012, 09:30 PM)
BBA, the legendary algae hated by most aquascaper. hahahaha...!!! proX have a BBA Killer posted for sale recently. you might want to try it. actually, BBA would come and visit your tank if your tank is dirty. a dead spot in tank water flow also helps to increase the chances of its visits. unchanged filter media is good actually because you would need the beneficial bacteria that already been colonized in it, but make sure its clean as well (do NOT ever wash with tap water directly). try to change to HOB filter instead of sponge filter but use the same 'sponge' from your current sponge filter. im assuming ur sponge filter is the one submersed in the tank rite?
- good for you.... not many having that kind of budget. heh... yes it's possible. as a devider or not, it'll be around the same thing to consider.... place to put ur lightings, hoses, filters, etc. also a scape that is nice from both side will be a challenging one. good luck with the design.

2ft height, isnt that too high for ur hands to reach to the bottom? do consider this as well for maintenance purpose. if it's okay, then go for it. also you might need a good lighting to penetrate that depth especially if u planning to have foreground plants like HC and glosso, etc. MH would be good but pricey.
- actually, still possible to have live plants with no soils at all. but plant choice would be very limited. the growth rate wont be as fast and the health of the plant might not be a its best but still possible to thrive. u can have java fern (tied to the one rock mentioned), or can have some moss like java moss tied to the stone to being used as the tank floor carpet.

btw, yes.. u can come here as well. why not? LOL!!... planted tank or not, still will have fishes/faunas in it. just.. less dicussions about it. tongue.gif

hey i have some question about fish food
my tk2 tetra, congo tetra and german ram color kind of not shining out
my question is
does getting those better quality fish food (some says enhancing color etc) will really bring out the colors of the fish? or is it just hoax to bring ppl to buy the products?

if it's really true can bring out the colors of fish, can someone recommend me some for my tetras, barbs and ram?

thx smile.gif

Ic, hey thx for that info.
will upgrade the food later on. any advice as to which I should get? say the ingredients should contain? crude protein 45% above? shrimp ingredient included?

been to 8 LFS here and none of them sell shrimp/prawn for fish food...
got only see fire shrimp, cherry and yamato/oto shrimp. oto alone is already RM3 each here and that's just how hard it's to get stuff here in KK, Sabah..

i'll search more on water parameters and ecosystem optimum for the fish then

thx smile.gif
QUOTE(ProX @ Jan 18 2012, 09:46 AM)
Yes it will. However, food alone is not the only key factor to having healthy and beautiful coloration. As simple as it may sounds, you will need to take care of water parameter and ecosystem in the tank too. Good quality fish food is packed with nutrition, won't foul your water and require less feeding.

It can last you very long if you feed carefully and moderately. Usually mine last over a year and expire before I finish.

if you have quite big aquarium, perhaps if you know anyone from a warehouse company, you can use this wood pallete used by forklifts. These things holds quite well too but it may be quite large in sizes so small vehicles like vans maybe can't fit. A truck would be possible

eg

Btw, ProX, those things like the polysterin box and ice can get from the fish shop as well? Plus, can the polysterin tahan later on? We can hand carry it into the plane? Plus if I buy the fish in plastic bag with oxygen pumped in, can it last for almost 12 hours? as I plan to go this Friday lunch time and only reach back Sabah around Midnite

QUOTE(usermode @ Jan 31 2012, 05:39 PM)
i dont know any LFS near Eastin but the most nearest i can think of is EA MidValley and Pet Family. but there's few more scattered around PJ actually.

How big is your fishes? Just put into a poly box and check-in. Label it as "seafood" smile.gif Remember to put a little ice in a bag (seal and tied up properly to avoid cold water flooding your fish bag)

@ProX,
great to know. I've experienced bought fish in plastic bag pumped with oxygen can last up to 9 hours, will take ur advice then as this will be around 12 hours or more..btw, I think I get the idea, pack the fish into several smaller plastic bags, put all into a polysterin, put some properly packed ice as well, close and seal (I will wrap it up as well as I think need to do that too) and then hand carry it. No worries, won't be blaming you if anything bad happens to the fish.

@sisaiko,
noted on 1B, for the Subang Jaya/PJ Option F, seems quite far from where I am. If it's too jam, I think I shouldn't go for this. Just need another fish shop recommendation then smile.gif

thx

QUOTE(ProX @ Feb 1 2012, 04:23 PM)
If packed properly, it can last over 12hrs. Yes you can hand carry (small pack) but I would suggest you to put into hand carry bag/back pack. Seal the box. Pack with more air and less water. If you buy a lot of fishes, separate into several small bags.

Btw, I am not responsible if anything happen. This is solely base on personal experience   sweat.gif

Hope these 2 places not too far from each other so can travel easily by Taxi

Thx for the input

Try one shop in Taman Desa, Old Klang Road. They have variety fish there and the owner is nice and can get plenty advise from him.The shop name is TDA. The shoplot is behind TM outlet and its right at the end of the other side.

Decided to go The Pet Family in Tmn Megah only, hopefully will be able to find some fish i like to bring back to KK, Sabah

Just wonder if my fish at home is okay.. left them since tues morning till midnite tonite. Gave them those on vacation food. Hopefully my lobster and catfish don't eat any of the barb/danio cos of too hungry.. yikes

Can't find any polysterin box for sale near my place so will have just to pack into some box, wrap up, label as Seafood and try bring into the plane hand carry.

Hopefully all goes well with airport authority, my concern now is just there. Fish sure can survive as it will only be 9 hours since i'm going to the fish shop at 3pm later ( Friday Prayers traffic jam)

wish me luck

Just witness something new for the first time last couple nights.. my lobster just changed it ekso-skeleton. At first I thot wat was it doing at the back cos looked like it curled up. Then with big jump, it came out from it's old shell.

Was a nice view and experience for me smile.gif
