Hi Weijie,
my tank is 320L, CO2 1bps, temp=27C and ph=6.8
Im using the Depont liquid ferts 5ml every day. i add Seachem Potassium 10ml, Nitrogen 10ml, Phosphorus 10ml weekly.

no water change but i add 10L every day because water drying up by fan.

do u think still not enough fertilization?
*
Hi KG,

Im not sure the last plant is from me, seems like one type of Ludwigia maybe Rapens

Dont worry the plant is not green enough, the rotala(1st pic), cos it not suppose to be green biggrin.gif
i think u lack of iron or lights, not sure about Depont content with, plus try to dosage ferts on daily basis instead of 1 shot....and WC also good for remove exceed nutriens in your tank.

the rotala u just trim as low as you can and replant it trimmed stem as dense as u can

the Pogostemon sp Babien Laos(2nd pic) u can cut them anywhere you wan and replant it by removing the lower leaves then plug it into ur soil. same goes to ludwigia

once you get the dense plant, then you can start shape your scape for the stem plant
you can refer here
http://www.adana.co.jp/en/sc/news/detail/196
see how they plant the plant.... rclxms.gif

hope this might be helpful biggrin.gif

of all the substrate out there, which type and brand is the better choices for my upcoming aquarium? kinda confuse with different, amazonia, malaya, africana and size too, powder and medium sizes??
*
depend on what you up to

amazonia good for plant, africana good for chiclids and malaya in between
http://www.adana.co.jp/en/products/na_substrate/aqua_soil/

IME i've use amazonia n malaya both can grow plant but amazonia the growth rate faster
Never use africana b4, so cant say much

powder or normal also depend on what plant you want to put,
small carpet plants(glosso, hc, HG) prefer powder, echinodorus n crypt can use the normal type.
and of cos powder more expensive

and try not to mix up the soil(amazonia, africana & malaya), otherwise u will get belang-belang layer biggrin.gif

thanks for the link! so if based on ADA, the substrate layer should be lowest>>powersand, next>>aqua soil, highest>>cosmetic sand???
*
Dont put cosmetic sand on top of your aqua soil, otherwise your waste your aquasoil...
powersand is not a must....u can replace it with like others said lava rocks
Yup Book of ADA is a good book, it shown some how to guidance eventhough is a ADA catalogue
it might be better also you get the book b4 u get ur soil biggrin.gif

more light means more co2 right? i stil have one more tube 38w not on yet. if on mean total = 136w
if 136w to 2bps stil ok?
*
2bps consider to low unless you let it run 24hrs(but it wasted since at night no co2 utilization)
plus if u r using glass diffuser, the diffusion level maybe a bit lower compare to inline
try to increase it to 3-4bps and add more lights, but aware with ur photo period

sometimes algae is good, dont worry about it...its a learning process

Words from Cliff Hui
Algae
My spy, it tells me the condition of the tank.
You care when you start, you don’t care when are experienced, and you started to care again when you are lazy

Blue green algae is actually not algae... Its a type of bacteria, suck out as much as you can. Or if you want drastic measure, get the gold fish powder, mix with some water and syringe it at the blue green algae.
*
yup yellow powder might get ride bga
if u hv extra budget, bacter 100 can be used

then suck it using tube
add otto, they luv it

u can refer
http://www.adana.co.jp/en/sc/news/detail/201

dear all sifu here,

i'm newbie who have a small glass aquarium and plan to start my 1st planted aquarium..i wan to ask that:

- can i setup the aquarium without the co2 system? it looks like expensive...
-can tell the price range for the aquasoil and the powersand?
- how do u guys control the water hp and temprature?
- do v need to clean the aquarium? by using the gravel vacumn?

Thank u.
*
im not sifu but ill try my best 2 answer

- can i setup the aquarium without the co2 system? it looks like expensive
of cos u can, but some plant can survive and some cant....moss, fern, anubias, some stems,HG can but the growth rate much better when then co2 supplied, perhaps u can DIY using the yeast formula or can use liquid carbon.....

- can tell the price range for the aquasoil and the powersand?
there are several types of aquasoil in market...price range might be various depend on the brand and types, powersand also hv two types normal n special(more expensive)....but some can growth plant even using garden soil n sand...powersand is not a must, u can replace it using rocks or lava rocks

- how do u guys control the water hp and temprature?
im so sure about hp, but temp u can use fan, chiller or in ac room....fan also not a must if ur tank reside in cool area

- do v need to clean the aquarium? by using the gravel vacumn?
cleaning aquarium is part of the routine of this hobby, while doing water change u can scrap the glass n suck out unwanted stuff from ur aquarium.....never use gravel vacum, im using water hose tube instead....

Is there any liquid drop that i drop into the aquarium to prevent the grow of algae? I saw 1 in a fish shop, duno is it effectiveor not..
*

I' m not going to have shrimp in my future tank, but will have tetras and snails =P

Oh...i read somewhere on net that moss only need low light to survive, so v still need those special made light?

And for the substrate, do i need to put amazonia soil 1st or lava rock after the 5 elements?
*
if moss only tank u even dont hv to put the 5 elements n amazonia
can use sand e.g river sand

ceiling light is not consider as low light thou
