yup. bought 2kg from KW penang. using 2 ft tank, half soil (on left side of the tank), half black gravel(right side)..all of the plant didn't grow well, but my fish still survive! pheww sweat.gif

check with the pH pen, my 1st tank ph is 7.8! quite shock how my neon and rasbora can survive for 2 month already..how to reduce the pH level?

Any particular reason why?
kekeke

hehee..

u can compare both

1st is the atomizer or super diffuser, not normal ceramic one

2nd is inline one

basically u wanna dissolve the co2 gas b4 they reach water surface and get wasted, with inline diffuser, the co2 gas travel in lily pipe, dissolve rate is usually higher than normal in tank ceramic diffuser smile.gif

u can DIY if u want tongue.gif

i usually just set my timer from 12 - 8:30pm

if u have 2 tube or more, then can set them to on one by one...

if ur light is high power or too bright, sudden on-off will cause stress to ur fish/shrimp icon_rolleyes.gif

tank update 8/11, waiting for my DIY ECA from taiwan to boost hair grass growth...heheee

yupe, ECA - Efficient Complex Acid, iron is part of it

as per product description on ADA ECA :
QUOTE
ECA is a liquid additive for planted aquariums, containing natural organic acid and iron in a liquid form that is absorbed easily by aquatic plants. Organic acid enhances bacterial activity and the growth of plants, and therefore improves overall conditions in the aquarium.
Iron helps plants in the formation of essential pigments for photosynthesis such as Chlorophyll. It prevents problems such as whitening of new buds, and waning of leaf color. It also helps to stimulate the development of new buds by activating various enzymes for the metabolism in aquatic plants.

i am using seachem iron d, but since many have great result with eca and it don't really serve as fert but rather an additive, so gonna try out this DIY eca from other forum biggrin.gif will keep u guys updated

ADA eca too exp.. lolx

small snail in the tank must be removed ah?
i just let them there.
is there any effect? they eat plant ah?
*
must keep them under control if not remove all

they can reproduce by themselves because snail are dual-sex (forgot whats the scientific name d)

biggrin.gif 1 or 2 snail is good for ur substrate

update of my moss problem. took the moss out and treat it with excel. today can see the moss like melting. difficult to remove yet coz like stuck to the moss. put another round of excel and see wat happens

for pressurized co2, any procedure of closing which valve b4 removing the hose ?
*
moss is sensitive to excel

usually i will close the main valve on tank, then open the valve on manual regulator, diffuse all the gas between regulator and hose first until meter reading is zero, remember dun straight cabut the regulator if ur meter still showing some reading, if no u might get a big "pop" sound ... just my personal preference biggrin.gif

QUOTE(surfsmurf @ Nov 18 2011, 09:36 AM)
what is the proper procedure when installing the regulator ? ur main valve is the regulator or the main valve of the co2 tank ?

btw i have tis problem with my drop checker. the color doesn't change even when i put it in another tank.

the instruction says put in aquarium water which i did. from the web some say must use distilled water and must be of certain kh. to get this must use baking soda and test.

so wat water should i put inside the checker ?
*
what brand u got ? my indicator no need to add aquarium water smile.gif cal-aqua

actually the correct step is to add 4dkh water bcoz aquarium water contain different PH, minerals that might affect the reading

where can i get this 4dkh water ? need to mix with baking soda and use tester to measure ? buying a tester for another tester is err not practical for me

Added on November 18, 2011, 10:42 am

regarding co2 hose..some claim hose explode..under what circumstances it happens ? excessive working pressure from the regulator can cause this ?

some shop told me normal silicon hose is not recommended.. plastic ones is ok.

same goes for check valve..cheap ones not reliable... any idea how much a plastic ADA check valve cost ?
*
there are few articles online on DIY 4dkh solution, try google it
hmmm.. u can buy cal-aqua co2 indicator liquid without the glassware smile.gif no need to add anything, just use and keep it fridge .. hehee
or as per weijie earlier, test ur solution whether they react to co2 or not, some might expired d or turned bad after shop keep them for too long

yes, dun use normal sillicon hose, u dun wanna try that, its damn loud tongue.gif i kena one time b4
so get proper tubing example pu material, and if u using atomizer, get better one, as atomizer need working pressure above 30psi
for check valve, try see u can find stainless steel one or not, or some brand got double check valve in one piece
