when sleep overnight, i "clear RAM memory" at task manager to used RAM 270-300MB.

then in the battery use, "android system" was higher than idle . and 6-8hrs overnight will drop 2-4%

otherwise , i don't clear RAM, instead i just exit all application (RAM 300-350MB). and after overnight, it drops 0-2% only...

i might sound ridiculous as if complaining, im not. im just wanting to understand this dept or logic.

my logic was
1/ i thought reducing RAM is use less electric but in this case, not so.

2/ and this "android system" seem to more prominent when i clear RAM than exit applications and uses more juice overnight

i just thought anyone had R&D this before lol

QUOTE(PhantomThief @ Aug 28 2011, 05:13 PM)
Here's the logic the way I see it:

The RAM is probably filled with data that the programs, including the Android system, requires at one point or another. So when you click "clear RAM", my assumption is that it will clear any non-essential data in the RAM, in other words, anything that isn't needed to keep the phone running is shut off.

Now over the course of the night, the phone may once again attempt to perform certain functions or procedures, but the data it requires is no longer contained in the RAM, and thus it needs to reload all the information once again, perhaps from the kernel or some other system files, back into the RAM. This would account for the consumption of the battery by the Android System.

As for exiting all applications, unless the application has been set by the user or is some rogue app that restarts itself, exiting them stops the multitasking while retaining the data needed by Android within the RAM. This would save on processing power while eliminating the need for Android to reload.

That is the logical explanation as I see it, please correct me if I'm wrong  wink.gif
*
that is a rational opinion. lastime i read somewhere that explains that sometime the battery usage mainly comes from CPU usage rather than mem usage. so if the CPU keeps reloading the essential android files back n back ,may consume more power then just let the smartphone manages the RAM itself than we manually clear the ram which increases CPU usage

Nexus Prime vs SGS2

Super AMOLED HD vs Super AMOLED Plus

1.5Ghz dualcore vs 1.2 Ghz dualcore

4.0 Android vs 3.0 Android

No more physical buttons in Nexus Prime.

4.5" vs 4.27"

1280X720 reso vs 800X480 reso

I think with the above specs, it is worth the wait for another 3 mths.
*
lg optimus 3d has 3d display too...not like ur gonna use the phone to do what not...im fuly contented with samoled+ and we tot amoled was great, then came samoled, then samoled+, now samoled hd, who gonna know wats new its like samsung r&d dept is high on crack

1.2ghz n 1.5ghz rly no difference to me as theyr mostly underutilized. quadrant too high but still worry on juice usage lol

android 4 is supported by most smartphone today some guy said in android . sgs2 guarantee can upd to 4.0

wait 3 months, then wait 3 months again for nexus super prime, then another 3 months for nexus ultimate prime. then another 3 months for quad core sgs4

lol....

to me, to those sgs2 users, be satisfied w ur phone now, we're already owning the best one in the market...tech cannot finish chase one lol

samsung already made one of the thinnest & lightest superphone around. best spec (at the moment) , best screen which even apple is wanting so badly of .

myb it's time to crack into a new undertaking. smack a 3000mah power into a batt of smaller size....i think that will sapu the ultra superphone market of quad cores, 3D HD Nova display, ddr3 RAM , n even superphones that help you wash your car...

charging the phone everyday like that is actually quite dreadful to me...my phone end of day remain about 20-50% dpding biz good or not lol
if a superphone can last 3 days like that guarantee have all the market cake lol

it uses google cloud services and it has push capabilties and uses less battery than most push services such as facebook.
*
i read the first page but still don undersatnd wats a wakelock LOL
my assumption is that wakelock problem is when the phone in idle mode but still draining battery is it?

this morning 2am when i charge upto 100% , i deactivated FAST DORMANCY too lastnight since i dont use data plan/3G/HSDPA AND force stop most unneeded application in SETTING>APPS> RUNNING APPS so i expect BETTER battery performance after TWO ACTIONS MADE...

then i woke up 12pm today, i almost shocked it shows 80% , 20% drop edi walaoeh, usually is 1-3% drop , got one night i forgot off wifi and still only 1-3% drop only. if drop alot overnight, usage ter definitely show highest was android systems...as suspected , it goes back to the annoying ANDROID SYSTEM...

TBH, in android system usage detail, i really dono how to make of the details in it. fr past experience, my only one idea is NOT to clear the memory in task manager

i use this wi-fi lock, solve my problem--at least, once i installed it, my s2 RARELY experience the problem that u mentioned already. previously, it happens SO OFTEN its getting on my nerves. i tried the two version of wifi fixer which claimed over 58% success but they both didnt work as well as (or at all) this wifi lock. its light install too. its application is just tap it once to activate n tap again to deactivate. but i dont deactivate it, so i keep it on at all times n forget its there lol.

GUYS!! DO YOU THINK WORTHY TO BUY THIS PHONE?
i struggling between this, evo3d and sensation..
please give some opinion
THANKS =)
*
i read few evo 3D online reviews and they got mentioned few flaws with it that prevents it fr being the top phone, i dont quite rmb them u've to read it but it's good to skip directly to the reviews conclusions.

htc has bad battery esp the sensation, worse cam than s2 but by no means bad since it's already among the 'superphone' range.
but i do feel the s2 camera has very terrible barrel distortion, other phone surely not escape this limitation as well...since we cant expect digicamera performance fr phone lens Lol...like the battery, camera lens is still a lightyear away....

i can live wit the smartphone poor battery tho, but i wish the camera phone wud be alot better than this

if weight matters to u evo 3d n sensation is around 160-170g.
s2? 116g lol....

do u knw how heavy is 116g? Strangely it feels ALOT lighter than my wave 118g (I Swear!) i think it has alot to do wit the dimension.
since im with s2, whenever i hold iphone4 (134g) these days , GOD, it feels heavy!! in short, in real life use, the s2 is pocket effortlessly

Hello guys, i've been using WIFI DIRECT since the past few days with my sis' sgs2, and i can say i'm damn impressed, 140mb of files transfered in less than 30 secs! and this was done in a restaurant, no router needed! seriously this is the future of connectivity, bluetooth lose la, wifi direct is going to be the boss rclxms.gif but sadly there a few formats that they dont support, eg. xml format, gonna do some research/testing & find if there's an app to make transferring simpler then i'll report to you guys here again biggrin.gif
wakelock is where your phone dont go to deep sleep/idle mode. In battery usage you will see screen off but the phone is still awake. Apps cause wakelocks when they request are active. Yes, do not use task managers to close, especially facebook, i once close it b4 i sleep, wake up left 15% and
*
if dont use task manager to close. then use what to close effectively? i dono any other way than use back button or exit thru TskMgr like music player, back button doesnt close it permanently.

i thought only sgs2 send files to devices taht hv wifi support like camera, printers, home LCDs right?...wifi direct has what sort of application? and wat other devices?

did anyone successfully transfer files between your laptop and ur s2 thru wifi direct?

i tried many x3 things and still unsuccessful. i checked page 1 ,google n not or no result at all, utube also only show wifi direct btw two s2 =.=

if u is kind enough to step by step explain to me. i know is go to the wifi direct setting ter. and i even set up a new wireless connection or network at the notebook there cuz it describe ter ad hoc so i just folo but still in vain.

ps/ n is it the same way connecting to kies thru wifi too?

3. about apple vs samsung myb u cn share ur opinion about the ongoing battle btw the two or rather apple vs htc+samsung
4. or wat the future coming to be of the superphones industry with advent comers like MIUI (but in support wise, only downside). is SE with their new display tech called white display or sthg lik that and nokia gonna kambek strong with their meego or Win7?

shit...this feels like an interview with uncle benny oredy biggrin.gif take ur time in answering all of the above LOL if not, just ignore them. its just a slight variation from the dry SGS2 post everyhour lol

but personally i think samsung is just so pissed with apple they just begin to start raining a barage of model to flood the market so that apple can lose customer based

ok srsly, i find the video sound too soft. maximise it to 14, still like lvl4 of my samsung wave only. other tones is loud enough but shockingly the video isnt
i dont like the speaker facing downside
i dont like the camera is not protected
i dont like cuz it's too powerful, i feel guilty not fully utilised it's power
i dont like cuz pawnage iphone users...

other version of sgs2 is tegra 2 processor with super lcd or sumfin' lik dat...amoled+ is very the best u can find on this planet before they mass ship out da amoled HD tho so this version is the reason u wanto get cuz of the amoled+...other manufacturer hi tech display still in production or concept stage so amoled+ still mile ahead in term of contrast /deep black and color vibrancy . and unless u can wait myb half a year, the amoled HD myb comes in much bigger resolution than 480 x 800 but just might tax the processor abit.

since the leading prowess of sgs2 processor partly due to smaller reso than competitors therefore explaining the overpowering quadrant n other perf tests

by the time juice finished, it'll b like 5 days for u at least . thats an insane battery life for a 4.3" powerhouse.

but from awake stat, i can see u rarely on screen ur phone ya? how long calls u make?

wat version r u on? (i.e.PDA:KH2, PHONE:KH1, CSC:KH1)

thx atonne

my daily usage is about 40m-1h 50m calls. screentime about 3-5hrs , and total 30m-1hr of camera, gallery, video, wifi, browsing
brightness near lowest, like 1.5mm green only. deactivate 3g, on 2g all time, no auto sync, n i tried every ways recommended to save juice except i din install juice defender since i prefer do it manually...n i even on off on off the wifi like a torchlight lik that i feel pathetic =.= but since someone said keep it on or off all time is better than on/off it frequently so i heed the advice now

from that i get 30-40% at the end of the day (100% from midnight) . some with such consistency, my battery can say last 1.5days.

1. Disabled Samsung new app notification. Options>Applications>Samsung Apps> Off)

2. Disabled Back-up and Recovery (Options>Privacy>Back-up off) This made a HUGE difference)

3. Disabled Auto Background Sync -> Under Accounts and Sync Settings

4. Disabled Wake Up Command

5 . Vibrate Off except when Silent

6. WiFi and Bluetooth Off

7. Display Brightness to Lowest

haven't try all yet.
