Well.. not many people are familiar with kernels and even the term flashing. Plus.. when people invest 2k on such an expensive phone, tjey would generally like some assurance before doing anything to it.

of course the guides in the first page are excellent. but to be honest(knowing this very well being a teacher) we cannot blame others for trying to get some form of confirmation or reaassurance before proceeding.

Thanks to benny888 and others for keeping this fast paced forum in check

cheers

I see that many things in batista are already in Lite'Ning Rom... which is more stable. The most common issue is the bluetooth issue i think.

Probably the only thing good about the batista rom compared to the Lite'Ning Rom is the undervolting which might benefit SOME devices which have no issue whatsoever with undervolting but based on the responses of the forumers in xda, it looks like to be quite a dominant issue.

Which feature would be the MOST sure-get for the batista compared to Lite'Ning?

IMO, I dont see anything extra on Lite'ning. All i see is a lil bit different interface. after I tried Batista, Cognition, I dont think i wanna go back to Lite'ning.

I was a Lite'ning fan coz it was the first custom ROM i flashed on the phone and this is my first android. so yea tongue.gif

Ic... i agree that both of the rom features look rather similar. You're using batista3.6? How's the stock browser on it? Probably one reason why i have not tried villainrom2.4 is it mentions that the stock browser lags...

i'm not so much of a care-about-themes fella... so as long as it gives more functions to the phone, makes it snappier (better battery life... but I know even if it does, not by a huge mile). I'm more into does the rom give better responsivness... so far, lite'ning does it for me.. will try batista3.6 soon... just to see how it is

but it looks like villainrom is a realllllly popular rom out there...

Almost the same... but I hate litening coz of Odin (tar) file. I cannot repackage the ROM or edit the prop files to my taste before flashing.  mad.gif

hahahaha... you fellas sure mod it kau kau until it doesn't even look like lite'ning rom... hehehe

Me, i'm doing too much heavy lifting on the n900 already... not going to mess with this phone too much la... (or rooting and flashing is already messing with it? tongue.gif)

cause I just need one functioning phone at all times.... smile.gif

Do share however if there are some cool features that you added in batista or whatever rom you're using that's interesting!

Pair Batista 3.7.1 with Jeffrey 3.0.0,. No issues at all at this point and really getting good battery life.

At this point Jeffrey 3.0.0 is still not compatible with setCPU, but to me at this point is doing good, just wait for the final discussion over at Jeffrey thread and hope they able to get the information needed to have the setCPU working fine.

using batista rom for awhile... noticed..

1. not really fancying the 'alternate' version of TWiz. it doesn't even support panning in the home screen and app screen.

2. Buggy. Some of the apps force close quite regularly. On top of that, things like the stock calender widgets are not add-able...

3. Besides that, the overall ux and ui, not impressive. Reverting back to lite'ning soon....

tongue.gif

The animations and transitions are cool though... and being able to modify the power-button menu is awesome... the animations and everything feels fairly quick...

I wonder would going for batista3.6 would be better?

Its not always going to be in the app drawer. Never tried litening, but for cognition, its not in the app drawer. Either use the extended power menu, or off the phone and boot into recovery mode using the hardware keys.
*
Well.. it's going to be difficult eh?
Cause I thought that one of the steps to root using cf root was to flash the zimage file using cwm after flashing the stock kernel? But I can't because thee isn't the cwm to select. Here are my steps:

1. Flash cfroot. Via odin
2. Go to recovery mode and wipe partition. And dalvik.
3. Flash lite ning rom. See the application drawer. And see nothing. How to flash the zimage? I just flashed a stock kernel. To get rid of the yellow triangle. Now can't flash the zimage file. Anyway to flash that zimage file besides using cwm?

If you flashed to another stock kernel, chances are your CWM will be gone. I think you should have flashed the zimage of a stock kernel, not the kernel itself. After that, flash the zimage of a CF-Root kernel.

Anyway, my point earlier is that the CWM app might not always be present in the app drawer. It doesn't mean you don't have CWM. You can still access it thru the power menu (hold down power button, select recovery), or using the hardware keys when the phone is off (should be power+menu+volume up). Since you're flashed a stock kernel tho, I think you'll need to reflash a CF-Root kernel.
*
Thanks for clearing it up. So now I have cf root installed, so to get rid of the yellow triangle, I flash the zimage of the stock kernel via cwm? Using which function? Install from zip?

I also have that same issue where I have to toggle the Wi-Fi and 3g sometimes. I don't like it as well but Widgets and shortcuts make it better
