Hissing is normal behaviour for a hedgehog that feels unsafe. He doesn't know your smell yet so he will hiss.

Before I got a hedgehog, all my research told me NEVER to buy a hedgehog that clicks at me. However, I find that to be rather untrue because even my nicest hedgie clicks at me when I scare her accidentally.

This is what huffing and clicking sounds like. Not very good sound quality though but you'll recognise it in real life if you hear it.

How to choose a hedgehog? Make sure they're healthy, walks normally and their eyes are clear? Buy them from reputable breeders.

You're supposed to prepare everything BEFORE you bring your hedgehog home.
You're subjecting him to unnecessary stress because you just brought him into a new environment (the paper box in your house) and you're going to take him out of that environment again soon into the new cage. That's just unnecessary stress to the hedgehog.

Please try to do more research on your own.

You can use a large Toyogo box, the one with six wheels. Also, buy an 11 inch wheel from Pet Lovers Center so he can get his exercise at night.

toyogo box ah? go GIANT or TESCO there, buy the biggest 1, for feeding bowl i use a spoon for Leo and litter box is my garden  btw, LEO is 1 year old now 

Large six-wheeled Toyogo box went for around RM40 the last time I checked at Tesco. A bit expensive but definitely cheaper & easier to clean than most cages.

If you want to save money, no need to buy feeding bowls. Just find something that resembles a bowl at home. I use the ceramic 'bowl' that people use to put in ketchup/soy sauce.

hahah, mine now is not with me, he is now at my hometown, miss him so much, should go back see him   but i did not put the water bowl and spoon together with him, oni put the spoon and water bowl in every morning and nite and watch him eat and drink. before this will bring him out to the garden to poop and pee, he is such a gd boy, din pee in his house  oni pee and poo at the garden.
how much the toyogo box ah? i think its around RM20-30.

though 1 year ald but he will also hiss sometimes when i woke him up suddenly or touch his right ear and pet his head, sometimes thats just their personality, mie dun like ppl pet his head and right ear

I don't use bedding. Used to use wood shavings but they get stuck to 'boy bits' when they pee or get horny (trust me, male hedgies get horny at least twice a day). Plus, I noticed my hedgies scratch themselves a lot more.

I'll go home and snap a picture of their current cages later so you could get an idea or something.

2day is second day oni ah? then i think u leave him alone for another day then pick him up slowly, remember, he will tend to pee and poo on ur hand, so once his tail is up, u should put him down 

yes, let him c and sniff ur hand 1st, then move real slow under him, dun rush, real slow, then scoop him up 

hahhaa, luckily din bite, dun worry, make sure ur hand dun have any new smell. by that time he slipped through, u pick him up lah  hhaha, natural instinct, no worries, but dun use wood shaving lah, tend to have mites o lices, i use newspaper, just for suggestion oni

Hedgehogs rarely bite. You should worry more about being poked. It hurts more than being bitten. xD

it means that rather than making excuses and reposting questions on basic know how's which you should have equipped yourself with prior to bringing home a hog, do the right thing and equip yourself.

as for the reaction on your palm, it's perfectly normal for some to get such reactions when first handling their hogs. again, this is covered in the link that I posted above.

see the condition, if hissing a little still ok but clicking too much also put him on stress so dont continue ald k? hopefully all will be fine 

i think u should remove the feeding bowl, put it in when u wanna feed him 
his pose is very funny, both legs are hanging, remove faster lah 

or if he likes the bowl (being in a confined small space) let that be his comfort zone and use something else as a feeding bowl

they love confined spaces by nature. that bowl is much bigger than a toilet roll core which hogs love.

Been thinking bout getting this one. But still in dilemma between this or sg. Both are so cuuutee!
