Hey all, i'm kinda interested in having a hedgehog as a pet after seeing wilsonjay's post in kopitiam. but i've got 1 question, are hedgehogs sensitive to loud sounds? Coz i'm a music lover and i usually turn on the music quite loud.

To athen3891 - realli? how much will it be? Nvm, he o she can accompany u back 2 N9  biggrin.gif u will nt b lonely in 3 hours drive

To WintersuN - it still depends, my hedgie doesnt like ppl pet him at the bac, u can take him up whenever u want o play wif him anytime bt not scrubbing his back

To Skinny01010 - err....ya, hedgie are quite sensitive to loud noise, might cause him to be tension,  y dun u juz use a headset  biggrin.gif

takda headset lah, plus headset no fun. =/ so i'll turn down the volume then.

Now i need to convince my parents to let me keep one. They think that having a hedgehog in the house will cause mites, cancer, respiratory problems etc etc. icon_question.gif

The dry skin on the ears can also be caused by mosquito bites, it'll get worst when the hedgie scratches it.. To cure the dry skin, you can apply some baby oil.. To prevent the mosquito bites, you can put some lemon grass sticks (batang serai) in the cage - the hedgie will bite it and self-annoite  all over himself & this will act as mosquito repellent.  nod.gif

Added on September 8, 2011, 2:53 pmNo probs athen, glad i could help..  smile.gif

Added on September 8, 2011, 3:05 pm Problem of mites may appear if u don't keep ur hedgie clean - Solution, give ur hedgie a bath once a month
Respiratory problem can be caused by the bedding or the hedgies dander (especially if ur asthmatic)  - Solution, use newspaper as bedding & bath hedgie
But CANCER!??? How did ur parents came to this conclusion???  doh.gif

those ang moh websites keep saying exotic vets charge quite expensively, I'm wondering, how much do they charge in Malaysia?

i've read that if u leave a shirt or what that u've worn in his enclosure will help with the bonding process too.
