QUOTE(-XIII- @ May 10 2013, 01:38 AM) Hi I wonder do you guys have bumps and rashes after touching your hedgies? I got it too. and it causes itchiness. though the itchiness went away almost immediately after i wash my hands. the bump doesn't stay long too.I would get lots of rashes even for just bathing her =.= |

QUOTE(rexeren @ May 18 2013, 07:23 PM) Hey guys Before you left him by himself, did you or your brother applied any sort of cream and handled him? (not cosmetic ones, but the skin healing type) or just baby oil. My hedgie starts going 'crazy', snapping her jaws shut if a finger gets near her, she also bites her leg until it's red and skin thin enough to almost start bleeding if I ever get TRY to handle her after I applied cream or oil (because sometimes I forgot I wanna share some news about my pinto. Just 2 weeks ago, he lost the ability to walk using his hind legs, his forearms are still fine. I brought him to Dr Dev for a check up, but there is a rare chance that he can regain mobility again. It wasn't an injury or twisted leg. The cause currently suspected may be due to the kibble he eats. His legs werent very good/agile since I bought him but I guess it worsened after eating the food. I'm still taking care of him though he started showing signs of eating lesser and preferred mealworms. Since he was not able to lift up his back, he is constantly dragging his back legs while walking. No signs of WHS "yet" since he's strong and ain't wobbling (according to dr Dev) But just today, a few hours after I left him to sleep, my brother informed me that he was bleeding badly. I checked on him and it looked like he bit his own left hind leg. He became very fierce and started biting when I carried him. Sometimes in my palms he would try to bite his injured leg a few times but I stopped him. Has this happened to anyone before? Your hedgehog hurting themselves |

QUOTE(TeliLeti @ Jun 3 2013, 07:49 PM) Pinto's right eye popped out. Don't know when that happened. Probably a few days ago. Meh. Must be hereditary or something because his dad's eyes popped out before as well. How is pinto guy now? Lordy, I hope mine doesn't need to go through it. Hope she is more like her mum. |

QUOTE(mengfart @ Jun 15 2013, 06:45 PM) Alright. THanks for the info. You're sure it's not hissing or puffing instead?Anyway. I just got my hedgehog for about 2 days and it's about 2 months old. Whenever I touches him or wakes him up he seemed to be shaking alot. My room temp is around 24c which should be acceptable right? But after awhile when i leaves him alone he seemed to be ok.. what could be the problem? Though if you mean 'shaking' by making sound like a motor continuously and kinda like vibrating, then it might just be it is not used to the new environment. Found my hedgie once like that in the middle of the night (it was under my bed then - and it was very dark) xD This post has been edited by BunnyRAWR: Jun 15 2013, 07:50 PM |

QUOTE(mengfart @ Jun 16 2013, 10:19 AM) Maybe it's just a problem of getting use to the surrounding. I think 24c room temperature is fine btw because my hedgie did just fine in a colder room. To be on a safe side, give it some cloth to tug itself in and maybe move it to a warmer place. Also try looking on youtube for Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome. And sorry my hedgehog never had a problem like this one, so that's all I could think of right now |

QUOTE(tarpaucase @ Jul 4 2013, 01:21 AM) Want to ask all hedgie experts here Not an expert but there's a hedgie just like yours here, but instead of pacing back and forth it run in circles (got clip also) very amusing XD people said it's because it's bored. so maybe let it out and run a little or buy a wheel or cut a tissue roll I recently got myself a hedgie. First time pet owner here so... I just got a camera so I can observe it anytime - so my first question is... I found it pacing around in its cage like back and forth repeatedly... is this normal ? O_o lol.. it's quite a big cage like for a small dog..like double storey, has a house so he can hide and all..has food and water and all. When I go near it, it stops pacing. But when I leave it alone.. it paces back and forth.. lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oL81Dq6yGY&feature=youtu.be (its only a 10 sec clip but basically loop the video and that's what it does all night lol) Is that normal ? |

QUOTE(mengfart @ Aug 15 2013, 02:09 PM) Hey guys. My hedgehog which is around 3-4 months old is scratching a lot for the pass few months. I've checked and it doesn't seemed like there's mites or anything and I've even bath him but the problem is still there. I've notice that he might just be quilling but is it possible for him to quill so long? Is his skin dry? |

QUOTE(noorimanyosh @ Aug 24 2013, 10:11 PM) which pet makes a better pet is a matter of preferences. But when it comes to which is easier to keep, definitely hedgehog. Sugar glider needs companionship, strict food diet, lotsa toys to play with and the list goes on and on. While hedgehog require very low cost monthly (if they don't fall sick etc) also easier to keep. Prefer people to just let them be too. |
