I did some research online too and Wobbly syndrome matches his current condition.
And the Dr. Dev told me the same thing too.
He has given him some medicine and advice me to get vitamin E for my hedgehog. Paid only RM 55 altogether.
AMC and Gasing Vet will be my next visit if my hedgie stays the same.  sad.gif  He explains that MRI scan will be the last resort.
I am so heart broken and broke out at the vet's place yesterday.
*
Gosh, that's terrible news. How is he doing now?
Poor boy. sad.gif
If Dr. Dev can get the MRI scan done, that would be good since he can then check to see if your hedgie really has WHS or not.
Visiting another vet for a second opinion is a great idea too.

Keep us updated on your hedgie's condition, will you?

I'm going to hope for the best. smile.gif

When a hedgie runs around the cage in circles for long periods, it's telling you that it needs something to occupy itself with because it's bored (out of its mind).

Just put in a wheel or toilet paper roll. That should do the trick.

No, I read it online when I was researching about hedgehogs before I got my first hedgehog.

Anyone know where i can get cubes and connectors, as well as coroplast? Interested to make c&c cages, hehe.
*
I saw the cubes in Daiso before. You can buy the coroplast in bookstores (Popular has them but they're rather expensive too).

my hedgy is bored.. i really pity him...  sweat.gif

i'm thinking to put the hamster wheel.. but it's too small for it..

anyone know where to get a big one..??  hmm.gif
*
Pet Lovers Centre. http://www.petloverscentre.com.my/location.html

Their 11" wheel costs around RM90.

I bought mine second hand from someone so I only spent about 60 bucks on it.

going back to perlis.. can my hedgy manage 6-7 of car endurance..??  hmm.gif
*
They can, but you should make regular stops at the rest areas so they don't get car-sick.

Give them some cloth (with no loose threads that can cut off blood circulation) to burrow in and they should be fine.

Make sure they eat and drink something an hour or more before the trip. You don't want them to starve but you don't want them to throw up during the drive as well.

Hope that helps. All this info, I read in a hedgie forum before, so you can't go wrong with that.

Cute little Sush is quilling again. quills are popping out all over her skin >< poor girl.
*
She's quilling at 1 year and 2 weeks old? This should be her last quilling process. smile.gif

Oh boy, they're ONE years old already!!
It's amazing how fast they grow. I remember the days when they were the size of a fifty cent coin.

Here's a picture of Sush when she was about 3 weeks old, I think. smile.gif

I brought my hedgie to Hands N Paw at Aman Suria. Not really sure if she is  Dr. Jenny as mentioned in previous posts. They were really kind as i was jamming all my way to the clinic. I called them up twice and asked them to wait for me before closing the clinic. They waited for me.

My hedgehog is now in critical condition that she advised me if I want to put him to sleep. And I couldnt help myself but to cry again. She told me that he might not be able to survive in the next 24 hours but I still brought him home and requested medicine from the doctor and pray hard that he could survive longer.

He is having urinary infection, bleeds every time he pooed. He has totally lost control over his bladder system and the doctor poked a needle into his penis to help him urinate. Also Im feeding him on Ensure Vanilla flavour because he cannot take in anymore hard substance. He is on new medication now which consists of 2 types of antibiotic, anti-inflammatory drug, vitamin C and antioxidant. I know the Hedgehog Wobbly Syndrome is fatal but i am still hoping that he can stay longer with me.  I am not giving up yet.

I personally think that she has more experience that any doctor that I have visited. She examined my hedgehog carefully and gave me advice.
*
ohmy.gif His condition seems to progress really fast compared to other WHS cases that I've read about.
It sounds like he is already in the final stages of the disease. Did the doctor prescribe pain killers?

Perhaps it would be better to put him to sleep if the conditions persist. Poor boy seems to be suffering pretty badly. sad.gif

Like BunnyRawr mentioned earlier, have you contacted the breeder? It would be wise to alert him/her on this matter since WHS is genetic and maybe your hedgie's parents had defective genes. We wouldn't want this tragedy to happen to other hedgehogs.

I do hope your hedgie is not doing too badly. We can see that you're taking very good care of him and you're doing the best to accommodate him. smile.gif

I lost touch with the breeder right after I got my hedgehog from him. I tried searching him a month ago after I found out my hedgehog has WHS. I fed him medicine around 2.15 am this morning and he took it well. But a few minutes later, his mouth started gasping for air rapidly. From that moment, I knew that he will leave me anytime. When I woke up at 7.30 am, he was already gone.

Thank you all for your encourages.
*
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that he has passed on. sad.gif
At least you can take comfort in the fact that he did not suffer for long.
He had a good life and that's what matters in the end.

is ALEO VERA safe for hedgehog? im going to apply it on Leo as he scratched himself due to the ingrown quills and there are 5 bloody spots on his body..............
*
I researched a bit online and I think it's wiser to avoid using Aloe Vera because certain parts are poisonous.
Why not use Burnol Antiseptic Cream? I checked the content before and used it on Pinto Boy's infected ingrown quills that I had to pull out after pus started forming.

The wounds healed up nicely.

I found one baby outside the nest, not moving about 1 day after my hedgie gave birth to 3 babies. I didn't touch it or check to see if it was alive. I just used a spoon, scoop it up and put it back in the cage. Sometimes, babies crawl out of the nest or the mum kicks them out. However, you can still put the baby back into the nest and the mum might take it back it. The baby survived and he's a fat boy now.

Be very careful when you top up the water and food. Take extra care not to agitate the mother too much when changing the bedding. Just scoop a bit of dirty bedding out every few days and replace them.

I used mealworms to get the mother hedgie out of the nest and to make her feel less threatened by my presence.

@gaianeo thanks. this one hedgies is quite shy. so i guess it will take a long time. better safe than sorry rite biggrin.gif

@telileti oh. that 1 baby thaat i mention before was already dead. i pick it up with spoon and i saw like blue color? darah beku? at his tummy and one of its leg. so sad. idk whats causing that. its like lebam. after that i just bury it in flower pot in front of my house. i try to lure her with mealworms but no response. though, i'm not sure if shes eating. there are still have some kibbles and mealworms in her dishbowl. but at the day she gave litter, she sure eat quite alot because the dish and waterbowl is really empty. is it maybe shes still full? hmm.
*
Oh, that's sad. Hmm, maybe she's still full. Keep the dish and waterbowl stocked with a lot of kibble and water so you don't need to disturb the mother too many times.

can i place hedgehog at hamsters cage?

Hamsters cages are usually too small for my liking.
I can put you in a small room for the rest of your life, yes. Will you be comfortable and happy? NO.

Buy a large six-wheeled Toyogo box from Tesco or Giant.

No bedding at all. Gotta clean every 2 or 3 days though since you don't want them sleeping in their poo/pee.

I want a wheel for my hedgehog too. Though no budget XD. I let her roam around the living room in the meantime.

I am not quite sure but if I remember correctly, a few hedgie owners got their hedgehog infected with mites playing with the grass. Wish I can Google but on mobile now.
Impotent kot.. =X jk
*
Ahahaha, impotent.

I tried to breed Chubster last month but it didn't work out very well. I think she had a miscarriage about 10 days after because I found a bloody clump of tissue near her poop. Don't want to risk her health for now so I'm not going to breed her anytime soon. Huffster's still horny as hell even though he's blind.

I miss playing with baby hoglets. laugh.gif

OMG. I didn't know you are breeding them again. Sorry that it didn't work out though ><. But if Chubster and Huffster are having babies again, will you promise to tell me? I promise only to bring home a female and love both equally XD
*
Ah well, maybe she wasn't feeling like having babies then. smile.gif
Sure, if she ever gets pregger again and the babies make it, I'll let you know.

QUOTE(nethelp @ Sep 13 2012, 02:31 PM)
Haha thanks for your recommendation, but my coming 7th batch fully booked by one of my previous buyer. 8th batch still pending for planning as I need to observe my female health and other condition. blush.gif

How's the healing progress on Huffster's wound? Really can't believe that he's totally blind... cry.gif
*

Ah, no problem.
The wound's all healed up. biggrin.gif He behaves normally but doesn't run like he used to run in circles around the toilet floor now when I clean his cage since he can't see anymore. His loss of sight doesn't seem to affect him at all, so that's good. biggrin.gif

I decide to clean her cage as it is soooooo messed up. Good thing she dont hiss or etc. Shes quite calm at that time.
So i took a picture of the babies in the nestbox. As you see the nestbox has been dug? or sumthing lol. But i dont change it at this moment because i dont want to add more pressure as i clean her cage. And their eyes still not open yet. Been wondering when will their eyes open. It is the 17th today. Hopefully within this 2-3 days. Cant wait to pick em up and play.  biggrin.gif
[attachmentid=3049817]
*
D'awww, I hope you can get more upfront pictures soon. biggrin.gif Are they not more than two week already? It's quite safe to pick them up now. Momma hedgie will be pissed but she's unlikely to hurt her babies after 2 weeks and you can distract her with food/mealworms. I find that socialising with them from an early age can help to tame them better. biggrin.gif

I had a dream that Chubby had delivered an albino hoglet. Woke up and had the terrible disappointment that it was just a dream. sad.gif

@telileti they in their 3rd week actually. 18th day to be exact. im kinda scared to hold them. they look so fragile. lol. maybe better wait till their eyes open? last night i saw one of them try to munch kibble. should i prepare their food now? like crush em kibbles and put in shallow dishbowl?
*
It sounds perfectly safe to me. If you want to wait, it's fine anyhow. I commend your strong willpower, haha.
Yes, you can prepare the kibble that way if you think they want to start eating solid food. You can try softening the kibble by soaking them in water but the babies might not like it. Mine certainly didn't.

I prefer females because you won't find dried semen stuck to their belly every morning. laugh.gif

Or you can just ask your girlfriend? I hope she knows how to care for a hedgehog (or learns to) because giving pets as gifts may not work out so well for the pet sometimes if the owner fails to understand how to care for one. smile.gif
