What industry are you working in?

Mechanical engineering companies in singapore, mainly the SME's employ a large number of indians, bangla ,china and burmese since their cheap, they dont usually fight back and they are semi-skilled workers.

I prefer to work with filipinos since their easy going and they dont really have inflated ego's like some singaporeans and malaysians do. Plus some of my black ops kaki are pinoys.

I only have degree from malaysia university and doing construction. so far i never heard anyone from construction is getting 3.5k at 25.
I am surprised when I heard my friend talked about his 25 yo female friend is being paid 3.6k while holding poly diploma in nutrition doing non-relevant job like sitting in office drinking tea and she is PRC.
what kind of world is this? she got 100% increment from jumping ship. what happened to the world ima feeling so imba now.

the thing is bro ... that /k/ is like a totally different forum from the rest of LYN. I agree that J&C isn't for "chatting," but if we move this to /k/, 101% chance it will degenerate into utter spam, trolling, and tons of name calling back and forth about how we tak suka so we keluar and all that nonsense.

Besides I don't see this is a "chat" thread but more like "LYN's unofficial online gathering point for those of us working in Singapore."

My rough calculations will be this
SGD500-600 for room rental
SGD100-150 for transport
Food SGD450(SGD5 per meal x 3 meals a day x 30 days)
Misc SGD200-300(depending on how much are you willing to spend on your fare trip to M'sia). For eg FirstCoach from Novena itS SGD55 for 2 ways...Aeroline its SGD80(from Spore) and RM120(from Malaysia)

You should have easily SGD1k savings..that's RM2,420++
Well we're never being treated AS 1st class citizens anyway....

If you are already earning rm6k in Malaysia, there is no real benefits coming to SG unless your offer is above S$5k

Your spending on food is a lot for one person

As for rental, why not share with one more person?

$1.2k is low pay are you thinking of upgrading (attend ITE/Poly) and get higher pay job?

Am drawing sgd 1238.75 monthly as a senior assistant fitter. Life is tough here.
