Since you have already worked out everything on the money part.
You now just have to make a decision on between a glorious CV (definitely with China coming up as a new superpower) and stable job or being with family and a riskier (by your view) offer.
I guess, this is up to personal preferences.
What we give are just suggestions and points to ponder (more confusion? laugh.gif laugh.gif ), you will still have to make the decision yourself or with your family.

Btw, everyone seem to say that being a programmer need to compete with ppl from india/china and pay is low.
however, i still need a job and i m a senior programmer in Australia.
would it be fair for me to ask for $4000-$5000 a month salary?
*
Definitely not fair.
You are spoiling the market. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Hehe.. of coz i want high pay.
but so many posts here saying i need to compete with cheap labour from india and china.
having a job with low pay is better than no pay.
i have a family to feed..  sad.gif
*
Every where u go, there will forever be people willing to accept a lower offer due to various reasons.
Employers love it when candidates are willing to degrade themselves when pay comes into discussion
I mean who doesn't when you can pay less and get more.
I had been suggested to lower my expected pay by 40% or I would not even get an interview.
I stuck to my overpriced number (real expectation was slightly lower as employers dun always meet our expectations)
In the end, I got 2 offers in the end, 1 with the expected number and the other the overpriced 1.
What people say is one thing, what you think you are worth is another.
Sell yourself better and emphasize on your long working experience and try to get the amount you think you are worth.
Why would you want to degrade yourself before even trying just because of what people said before trying?
You never know that your skillset is highly sought after until you get into it.

thanks for your advise. it is really helpful.
i guess i need to look around first instead of just jump into any jobs i can get.
*
No problem. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
You can do some research through the job portals.
Some will indicate a salary range which will very much help you in deciding how much you are worth.
You having a singaporean wife will increase the chances of getting PR-ship (or even citizenship).
This may or may not be a selling point. laugh.gif laugh.gif

hehehe.. i read through the PR application. The possibility of NS kind of put me off.
At 32 yrs old, dont think i can spend 2 yrs in army.  shakehead.gif
may need to get PR through skill migration.
*
I think you are too old for enlistment...rumor has it that if you are over 25 (some have it at 30), you are safe.
No luck for your sons though. laugh.gif laugh.gif
That goes as to how far you believe in rumors.
Rumors also have it if a singaporean spouse sponsors you, you will be a first gen PR and are very likely exempted.
All new NS-men have to go through the 2/2.5 years "orientation".
Put it this way, not everyone can go through that. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Btw, is there a site where I can check the Singapore MRT and bus fares? Would it be sufficient to bring 100 Singapore Dollars there for a day interview?
thanks for all the help.

If you have a laptop and wifi, I would recommend gothere.sg
It is much more detailed and helpful.

Why don't you open citi account? I heard they offer for free when you withdraw and transfer in any ATMs
*
Fine print...only ATM5.
Anyway, citibank has an ATM at almost every mrt station.
So StanChart, HSBC, Maybank or Citi or (forgot what bank)...you can easily withdraw money.
Unless you do not visit the mrt at all. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Hi friends,

I am going to visit SG end of November. I am planning to go for the Universal Studio in SG, just want to find out information as listed below:

-how much entrance fees I need to pay for the theme park
-Is this Universal Studio located nearby to any one of the casinos in SG?
-What kind of transportation I could take to reach the Universal Studio? By MRT and which station?

Thanks for anyone who have been there to leave your guidance.smile.gif

SGD72 if you buy online. Can't remember the exact number, but it is 70+.
If you buy from the ticketing counter, you may get a 20% discount if you use mastercard.
Next to Genting Resort World casino.
MRT would be harbourfront (yellow or purple line) where you go into vivocity mall.
You then decide whether you want to take the train for one stop (SGD3) or walk along the broadwalk (SGD1) in. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

So, are you saying SPF has no jurisdiction on people who have the privilege of driving a foreign car?
That's nice if true but that is also so wrong. SPF are in charge of traffic and they dictates what are the requirements for driving in Singapore.
Notice also how LTA guidelines never mention about how you should behave when your in Singapore or whether you need to have a valid driving license.
That's because that's under SPF jurisdiction. LTA only controls what gets to go in and out.
*
I agree with this point.
It should be the same as in Malaysia.
JPJ (LTA in SG) defines the requirement of car driven, traffic police (SPF in SG) defines the requirement of driver.

Thanks.
Missed out this page.
The other pages I read only had eligibility.
I guess the only way is to invest in a m'sian property and sell it off to buy a HDB to withdraw my EPF. laugh.gif laugh.gif

I believe just like CPF, when you sell off your property in Malaysia, you need to return it to EPF.
That being said, rules are meant to be broken, and in Malaysia anything Boleh thumbup.gif
*
Never knew that property bought with CPF had to be returned when sold but that is too far a distance for me to consider.
I need the roof to stay instead of investing now. laugh.gif laugh.gif
So did not think about EPF, but I heard that profit from the sale of property less than 5 years in M'sia will be taxed. sweat.gif sweat.gif
Need to dwell into more research.
Thanks for the heads up too.

probably it's $$$ factor....i have 2 friends converted coz:

1) wanted to have another one month of maternity leave.  sweat.gif
2) can buy BTO
3) can get baby bonus
4) can get housing grant

they made the decision when:

1) after a year got married.
2) just delivered baby.

You get 2 extra.
Sg baby entitles the mum to get 16 weeks (4 months) of maternity leaves.
BTO is good, especially with the deposit difference of 10% and COV is not required!!!

I will convert if I decide I am going to retire here with my family, I'll do community service and my son will do his national service for the country if we convert. I do not want to be seen as taking the citizen benefit but not fulfilling the national duty.
*
Erm...I tot your son will have to do NS now even without being a citizen. (I am assuming he is sponsored by you to be a PR).

Anyone here bought a HDB? Can single SPR bought HDB?

Understand from this site (http://singaporewatch.org/?p=663) that only single SG citizen who're 35 years old and above are allowed to buy HDB. But I overheard some exceptions around the internet.
*
Single SPR - No.
SPRs Family members - Yes.
