QUOTE(kinwing @ Aug 26 2011, 12:56 PM) I can't agree to them, as if I am getting the same pay scale of KL in Sg, I might save less in Sg due to high living standard in Sg, but after currency conversion I still save more (example save SGD1.5K > RM2.5K). Not to mention that Sg might have lower food and transportation cost than KL, so I might be able to save the similar dollar that I can save in KL and this will at least double my saving. As long as I don't own a car (I don't drive in KL either) and have no intention to be permanently settle down in Sg and buy a high-end condo, the so-called high living standard is not a big deal to me. From wat i gather from my peers + my one sided opinion, doin CF in KL you would easily earn 5 figure (permonth) as compared to SG. My view is that, the demand > supply gap is wider in KL, than in SG.. But the cap would probably be higher in SG, simply say the cap in SG maybe SGD1m per annum, but the cap in Msia probably RM0.5m. So that being said, SG would have indeed higher potential. In summary what i'm trying to say is, for Cf, it's easy for you to earn 10-20k by being an average performer. But in SG u would have to perform above average to earn that, but if you can perform above average then sky's the limit. Then the question is how long u wana stay in SG and how confident are u as an above average performer? If you just wan to come here less than 5yrs in Cf line then go back KL. better stay back in KL, cos in 5 yrs time when you go back you may get a salary lower than your peers at that point in time, due to different regulation (altho similar, but still diff), you do not have the client base/local network. The working style is oso diff, in SG paperwork is much lesser, you travel more (more reginal deals), and the regulators here does not "micro regulate" you as much as your SC. But you may have save more in between the 5yrs, which is not much, cos the salary base is way lower for these 5 years period. Just sharing my opinion. |

QUOTE(mercury8400 @ Aug 25 2011, 11:07 AM) One more thing i realise is that its quite pointless to apply through jobstreet, jobsdb or those website coz 99% of them are ads placed by recruitment agencies. These agencies will the you all the crap about how "you don't have SG experience" and try to lower yr pay expectation. Also these "head hunters" mostly lie and/or hard sell their clients to you which might not be what yr looking for or might not be a fit. If looking marketing or advertising job where is the better place to look for except those recruitment website? most of them ignore our application >< I say since yr from IB, use yr contacts to get a job in SG. I'm sure some of yr collegue or bosses know someone who lknows someone else who works in SG. Use that instead. At least you get a fair deal. |

QUOTE(kockroach @ Aug 26 2011, 04:35 PM) It's required. One bank ask for many doc, others just iras statement + salary slip + ic to verify your doc will do. I don't bother to give bank statement when asked. Pay slip already stated it credited to my bank account.

QUOTE(r1v3r @ Aug 22 2011, 10:00 AM) New car COE is 10 years, as the car aged the frequency for car inspection before road tax renewer increse too. At most once a year which cost ~S$100. better buy before you hit the 10 years mark, you can chose to renew your COE for 10 years or 5 years by paying 100% or 50% of the prevailing COE(average of past 3 month COE). If you renew, then your car is one of those "COE car" else your car will be deregistered and they will ask you to send your car to scrap yard. bro, the 50k is only for the VW Golf without COE right? check this New VW Golf almost RM300k for the cheapest model, like driving a double storey house on the road, one bang on the rear there goes the kitchen ![]() Nissan GTR, very powerful and look stylish, girls willing to piak-piak with u for free |

QUOTE(kinwing @ Aug 26 2011, 12:56 PM) Have talked to my friends yesterday during yamcha session about my intention on looking forward to work in Sg. But they sound so discourage because Sg's living standard is high. I think you think too far. First of all, get a job offer in SG first then decide if the salary whether it is sufficient to sustain yrself or you. No point dwelling on it now without a concrete job offer. Afterall it is NOT easy getting a IB job in SG if you have NO connectsyun. Based on just application from headhunter/jobstreet, priority will definately be given to Singaporean or PR first and every tom, d*** and harry wants to join an IB(yrs truly included).I can't agree to them, as if I am getting the same pay scale of KL in Sg, I might save less in Sg due to high living standard in Sg, but after currency conversion I still save more (example save SGD1.5K > RM2.5K). As long as I don't own a car (I don't drive in KL either) and have no intention to be permanently settle down in Sg and buy a high-end condo, the so-called high living standard is not a big deal to me. Then they turn to the topic that Singaporeans are kiasu so working environment will be daunting. Fair enough, it is working life and every work got its nature of pressure. It is not different from what I am doing in an IB at KL now, I worked more than 16 hours everyday (24/7) for few weeks just to catch the deadline for the submission of an IPO project, and words from bosses will be hard to swallow if works not up to their requirements. Getting double pay with the same pressure, good Then we also discussed about the distance from hometown. For me it is also no difference if I work in KL or Sg since I am from Ipoh. Maybe Sg is a little further south than KL, if take bus will take another 3 hours longer only, or I should just take budget flight then. Anyway, I have asked my friend to arrange a meeting with his friend who is now working in UOB out to yamcha on this Sunday (he back to KL for long puasa holiday), hope can find out more from him and pass him my CV. I saw job opening from the New Straits Times, send resume, they come to KL interview a few of us. They then get an agent to look for HDB apartment for us who are successful in the interview. we move to Sg a couple of weeks later, our maiden trip there is fully reimbursed, either you take flight, bus or train, they pay us back in full. Then do our medical there, get approval-in-principal letter and start work. MNCs will do that depending on the candidates/urgency etc. Local companies will rarely do it, unless it's a pretty high level position that needs to be filled urgently. We recently hired a tech service guy from East Malaysia... more than matched his salary in S$1 vs RM1; paid flight, hotel, expenses for a househunting trip to SG; then paid for the flight, expenses to officially move him and his stuff to SG; then put him up in Mandarin Orchard for a month while he finalised his accomodation. Even gave him 2 months signing bonus to help him set up in SG (to pay rental deposit, phone deposit, open bank account, buy white goods etc). But then, we specifically wanted someone who can service our customers in Indonesia, but who is either local Singaporean or Malaysian... not an Indonesian. |

QUOTE(Materazzi @ Aug 27 2011, 10:55 AM) Haha.. I give it a miss, I have better use for that amount of money. I don't need big toys, a functional car will do. If you ever get one gtr, make sure you are the owner not the car own you. You will have more time to drive it around than working hard to keep it.
