For you guys that travel to JB frequently, another alternative fyi.

there is malaysian operated bus AC7 from kota raya to Yishun too.

It has been a long time I never take bus to JB, for those who take SG operated bus from JB to Singapore, make sure you pay cash(RM) instead of eZlink(SGD).

One hand sell you hdb at high price another hand grab more money from you to to pay for your hdb.

After they increase hdb income cap to 10k, they also capture the cpf for this amount. 5k each person, just nice.

Now More money stuck in cpf, you better take good care of your health to see the money one fine day. Next, they will publish SG people live longer thus should work longer, increase the cpf age limit again. Old drama.

OK guys, I did some research on hr consulting firms. Seems like all prefer at least a couple years of relevant working experience. Should fresh grad apply for job adverts that stated they need working experience? Or no chance at all?
*
What is the chance than other applicant have working experience that they specificaly stated?

Logically, they will take those with experience, then local fresh grad with same quality then you if the position is still available.

But no one is stopping you from applying those jobs.

which JB branch do u trade with? i always saw 2.42 only...but in KL i can get 2.46-2.47......

which singapore money changer can get it?
JB really low...
*
Don't know why, the 2.42 sign board must be a lucky number so some JB money changer keep dispalying it for a long time. You can to go to counter and ask them the current rate. I change twice in JB last month @2.45, 2.46 while they display 2.42.

btw, I plan to buy car, do you think 1 month driving course be able to polish my skills on the road?
If you willing to spare your friends/partner from siting next to you while you "learn" to drive, pay those instructor for a refresher course.

Else, say a prayer, turn the key and just drive around your familiar area first then slowly learn all the CTE, SLE BKE TPE etc.

If you start from Changi, drive pass CBD to TUAS, cross to Malaysia, go Bukit Indah, Pasir Gudang, Back to JB (edit: I forgot to add Petrol Station) pass CAUSEWAY, woodland, take SLE,BKE, TPE to Punggul then back to Changi. DONE, you can finish your polishing in one day if you wish.

I guess driving it self is not hard, instead you need to learn the road in your area first then use map to explore further.

current Car price is double from the time I got mine rclxub.gif

I wish to study a part time degree course out of my field for the fun of it. That's after my wife complete her part time master course.

One good things in Singapore is there are a lot of opportunity to upgrade yourself at any level. Many courses in local uni and poly are cater to working adults. I had completed one part time course after my full time degree. I know some of my classmates are over 40 and that was not their first part time course.

That bad? Today's news SG inflation was over higher than expected but I am sure money is never enough.

Years ago I told my gf that we should start our family right after degree. That's start when you earn little and we built up together with what we have.If there is a will there is a way. If you wait till you have the money for your dream flat that you wish for years ago, housing cost increase much faster than average salary increment ever since the first hdb was built.

Timing is money, especially in SG.

I maybe will consider NUS master in supply chain management! but sg doesn't have petroleum engineer part time degree?

And what I dun understand why u guys like to study at univ? I think better to gain the experiences and u can learn more in the jobs, just stay back until 10 p.m in ur office than u need to pay course fees. And the company also gives u training mah, my spv is going to europe for training
*
Look at ME degree or master from nus or ntu. The petroleum is one of the degree option.

I had stay back till mid night to learn new things and my company provide ongoing training but uni courses let you learn from other people outside your company. Mind you, those part time course is not like your fresh degree. Some of the student already expert in the field, they were there to grill the lecturer for more detail. Fun to be in discussion.

when someone asks whether something is "gated," they're asking if it's a "gated community." As in the entire housing estate is fenced off from the rest of the world and everyone coming in need to go through guardhouse & etc.

I know smile.gif Just trying to pull ivanswk's leg, you happen to know him?

Some sucurity post is really just a scare crow, give them a few try before you decide.

You have to look at the actual location and its surrounding, the traffic and your neighbourhood to find a suitable house for family.

I prefer area with more owner occupied unit and less rental/vacant unit (those bought by investor), gated or not.

I normally bring my kids to KPJ. There are two good pediatric that I bring them there, one of them is Dr.Kok.  Tried some clinics in Century garden but I do not really trust them.  If need to nebulize only, I will bring them to Clinic Theesan in Century garden.  Other than that, it's KPJ for me.

The air filter is very important.  After getting the unit, their asthma attack reduced significantly.

Do you stay in JB as well?
*
KPJ is the Puteri private medical hospital? SG pediatric cost ~$100 for normal case. Previous trip to TMC for a lab test, rental of a nebulize etc cost $400+ What is the rate in JB?

Which air filter? Do you need to close window most of the time.

I go to Perling area frequenly. Plan to move over in future.

Bukit Indah,
for singaporean.... aiyoyo, so many FT in bukit Indah... so horrible horr... tongue.gif

for malaysian... it is just another Malaysian Taman.

==================================

Secret road? Only for those boys who don't know how to read map and typical Kia** people. That's why have normal, secret and secret-secret route...

they refer to causeway. Just drive into SG as per normal (where most people do), the so call secret people will cut your lane from the left at the last traffic light and the secret-secret people will cut in from overhead at the slope entering CIQ building.

Tuas is on the HW, you need to dig tunnel or cut fence for secret route.

It is all in the "TOP SECRET MAP" doh.gif free from internet, RM10+ from petrol station haha

I thought FT cannot buy house in JB?? and how do they pass JB-SG every day??
I want to look for studio apartment, less than RM100K, is there any?
*
How can it be a Malaysian can't buy a house in Malaysia? Just look at the causeway and tuas every morning. They are riding bike, taking bus or driving SG plate car daily.

For those PR or SG with Hdb, they can buy house after staying in HDB for 5 years. If they sell their existing hdb and buy another hdb then they need to sell away their private property within 6 month and not allowed to buy any house for the next 5 year. that's what the SG gov said not sure how they execute it.

RM 100k can get you a car but not any apartment in JB. Best to rent a few month till you are very sure you want to buy a Jb property. Most Property there are overpriced to chop SG carrot head, you need to do your own homework to get a value for money unit.

no one is stopping Malaysian to buy house. you can buy all you want. Sg side is only stopping ppl from buying HDB apartment if they have house in Msia. if you wanna buy HDB apartment, you play by their rules. if not happy, then don't buy.

Just answering question from other members, got nothing to do with happy or not. Have a happy day.

so where did you buy a house? in singapore? I wanna get the studio one, rather than rent a 3 rm HDB for $2.5k. Deodorant is elite one haha.. I have about 4 houses already in kampong village under my name, given by my father. Can I buy the HDB in JB bro?
You can buy anything in JB or any SG condo now but you can't buy any Singapore hdb until you clear all your private properties and you fulfill other hdb rules.

For those who got their hdb earlier, $2.5k is enough to pay for their SG hdb and a JB house.

Condo is not affordable for me, need to work until die, my plan is to retire at my home village rather thanin  the expensive singapore city. why can't I buy HDB in sg if I have PR and has a spouse?

*
Malaysia side you can always but what you want

Singapore HDB side want to make sure those with private property will not enter HDB market to speculate HDB price.

Other than PR and spouse, there are other rules such as max household income, clear record (immigration and criminal etc) etc.

Do not rush, wait till you get a good deal then you buy.

Improved HDB website to provide information on resale flats  icon_rolleyes.gif

http://business.asiaone.com/Business/News/...011-304472.html

http://www.hdb.gov.sg/map
*
From HDB website, thanks for the link.

Q:
I own a non-subsidised flat, and I have intended to buy a private property. Can I do so?
[ Hot Topics > Buying A Flat ]
A:
If you now own a non-subsidised flat as at 30 Aug 2010, you may continue to buy a private property. The new measures apply to applications received by HDB from 30 Aug 2010 onwards to buy non-subsidised flats.

Q:
What do you mean when you say that I must dispose of my private property within 6 months of buying a non-subsidised flat? If my private property is overseas, can I retain it?
[ Hot Topics > Buying A Flat ]
A:
You may not retain your private property. Whether in Singapore or overseas, you will need to dispose of your private property within six (6) months of the effective date of purchase of your non-subsidised flat.

Q:
What has changed for the Minimum Occupation Period for Non-Subsidised Flat? And how will it affect me?
[ Hot Topics > Buying A Flat ]

A:
For applications received by HDB from 30 Aug 2010 onwards for purchase of non-subsidised flat (i.e. a resale flat bought without CPF housing grant):
a) Flat buyers need to meet a Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) of 5 years, before they can sell the non-subsidised flat in the open market or sublet the whole flat.
b) Flat buyers are not allowed to concurrently own the non-subsidised flat and private residential property within the MOP. Ownership of private properties by HDB lessees will be allowed after the MOP.
Flat buyers who have already bought a flat or whose application to buy a flat is received by HDB before 30 Aug 2010 will not be subject to the new measures.
These measures ensure that buyers purchase HDB flats only when they have the intent of staying in it for long term. It ensures equitable treatment for all HDB flat lessees during their MOP. They are expected to dampen the demand for resale flats from buyers who do not have urgent housing needs.

Q:
I am a Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) who own an overseas property. However, I am not able to sell it because I have family members living there. Can I still purchase an HDB flat?
[ Hot Topics > Buying A Flat ]
A:
You can provide details to HDB and we will assess how best to help you on a case-by-case basis. This applies to other appeal requests as well. If you would like to appeal, you can write to HDB and produce your supporting documents. We will look into the best way to address each case.

====================
So if you submitted your HDB purchase paperwork before the cut-off date then you can buy any private property (including JB house) anytime but you need to dispose these private property (and the existing HDB) if you decide to buy another HDB.

dont need google.

1) walk across the bus stop across the road (follow the uni student)

2) Look at the sign board at the bus stop to decide which bus to take.
