QUOTE(mercury8400 @ Sep 6 2011, 03:13 PM)
Airline industry is one of the worst-off industry to play in even if yr a well managed carrier like SIA. Fuel cost are surging so is maintenance cost, spare parts and airport rentals. Its literally a nightmare. Airlines like SIA faces huge challenges from low cost carriers like Air Asia who has the volume to compete.
*
all this taken into acc already... but it stills seems like a good buy, indo is booming... SIA is making lots of $$$ from it

1 female CFO came in for few months and left due to the industry i am in dominated by all males in managerial postings. even her subordinates who are females also making some noise due to her. was replaced by a male after that.
*
females make bad decisions because they are influenced by hormonal changes and attitude... no offence but senior decision making position are usually reserved for males unless that position is at the top and its unique... there're exceptions

but usually i would prefer to report to a male...

QUOTE(fbjkl @ Sep 26 2011, 11:20 PM)
where do u stay/work? if u r in west side, try causeway link. $27, not so comfortable, so-so service, it's the most convenient way for me to go back on fri nite as my office in IBP  tongue.gif

u need to book and purchase online for First Coach bus tix 2 months in advance, 12pm mid nite (for fri nite/sun late afternoon). so far it's the best (good service, depart/reach on-time, better traffic in Bangsar then going south to TBS, free one bottle of water & cake/biscuit  biggrin.gif ) and cheapest among all the bus companies.  thumbup.gif
*
wow... hardly hear from you anymore

causelink buses are sometimes infested with mosquitoes and its kinda run down... first coach no matter what, and the ppl in the bus are more decent XD

No luck trying at jobstreet, just had a phone called over by agency i guess, asking about whether i am ok with going over for interview if there is any. Probably a good headstart then smile.gif

IT is a market Sg requires.
You can try and go higher or come here and follow the singaporean trend (job hopping).
I consider myself lucky though.
But I still remember 1 head hunter asking me to request 2.2k for a degree holder with 5 years exp.  shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif
Really wished I could give her a piece of my mind with that kind of amt she is suggesting.
*
depends which part of IT, programming definitely no-no
QUOTE(crapp0 @ Sep 27 2011, 04:16 PM)
Marine/ OnG industry. But i dont expect a white collar fella to cope with the demands of the job. In my previous company, 2 out of 3 potential employees will resign within the first 6 months since most cant stand the job and the environment. Working inside a ship tank where the humidity is like a sauna, the ambient temperature hovers around 40 C, you need to work at height climbing ladders nearly 5 stories high and doing this for 5-9 hours straight everyday. Plus your exposed to confined spaces and the danger that explosions may happen, lack of oxygen or being poisoned by H2S is an ever present danger.

I have little hope that pencil pushers would last even a month before giving up. There was one singaporean guy who just finished NS, went to work for just one day and that was the last we ever saw of him.

hmmmmmm you should somehow engineer a trip to the Yahoo! SEA office in SG. Half of them are pinoys. Graphic designers, publishers, writers, editors, etc.

not those... those are ok, its the baggage that comes with them or those that are working in the lower levels... beh tahan man, sometimes worse than prcs

Hey guys,

I'll be going to SG for my internship by the end of this year. ive been searching on the net for possible accommodation around Boon Lay Interchange, and got some good deals. Unfortunately some of them dont come with photos of the room itself. May i know what can i do to make sure the room is in good condition?

By the way, usually i have to start looking for room how long before my arrival at singapore? Im planning to get there few days earlier solely for room searching, but im afraid there will be insufficient time.

Thanks a lot guys.
*
i would suggest visiting the place itself, its not just the room but the whole unit... the people staying there... the surroundings...

i would suggest 1 week.. its not just the room, you have bank acc, phoneline, Internets... etc etc

yes, approved-in principle.
waiting for medical report, not yet get the physical work permit card.

i think that's why... work permit is tougher, mercury knows all about it
QUOTE(crapp0 @ Oct 1 2011, 08:48 AM)
No lar, this should be common knowledge, either that i've been hearing too much stories from my colleagues on their failed relationships involving these 2 people.

agree with you, but pinoys do have baggages sometimes also... last time they have lots of those pubs near bugis offering their services when u order drinks.. but now all close down already

Just came back from Taman Negara trip. 2 days 1 night jungle trekking with 1 night sleeping in a cave. 10 hours of trekking, covering 14KM in total. It wasn't difficult but we're unprepared and somewhat spoilt. lol. Nevertheless, it's a good trip and reasonably priced.

p/s: Technically speaking, I'm not even 24 yet and I don't earn as much as you folks thought, and needless to say, definitely don't earn as much as you both do.
