Thanks for your replies.

Oh yes...Nicoll Hgwy MRT is definitely nearer. Thanks for the tip....overlooked this MRT Station.

What time does it reach the Malaysian immigration in Gelang Patah(?) for the midnight express bus?

Another Q, as I would want to sleep on the bus, which express would you recommend for comfort? Luxury is not a main criteria but comfort is upmost. Since I will be sleeping....no food required too! Lets not put cost into consideration for this, i.e., can be a higher price ticket.

Thanks again.

assuming 12am sets out, 4 hours to arrive at JB. i think by 4.30am should reach Malaysia immigration already. so far, transnational serves me well.

wow, your company has lots of finance staffs. In my company, 1 Finance manager, 4 controllers, 5 accounting staffs, 2 tax officers, 3 export-import officers and 7 purchasing officers. I am as fresh grad joined as controller, where can I be promoted to? All other controllers people are older than me by 6-10 yrs. The FM is already >50 yrs old.
although we have a few finance people, but our turnover has already been about US$100 million and it expects to double in 2012. In total we have about 1k employees.

Will singaporean look at you as intruders too? You see them nagging at EDMW about FT snatching their jobs.

Btw, your company is 500 Fortune and this is why they pay better.
What is the good about service and technology? service is too overrated and do you think finance people are not cost center? what do they do about service and technology? My company paid US$1million for SAP, that's expensive and need to pay monthly maintenance

You are fresh grad and u want to go Aus to work NOW? You're kidding right? do you know hoaw hard is it to get a job as a fresh grad in Aus NOW? Do you know how bad the economic is in AUs right now? They are not even hiring permanent staff right now, all temps and without any experience, not caucasion and no PR (i think), your chances are roughly nil. I still have cousins who graduated mid last year who is still jobless. (fyi she has a masters in addition to a degree but have rich parents). So unless you have very deep pockets, i suggest you don't quit yr job and go to Aus and find one.

Oh well, I do not have straight A's or 1st class honours to join Exxon bah. I have to learn from he hard way to join Clients which is from manpower supply and slowly climb the ladder up. At least I manage to pull off the interview.

Hope I am not making the wrong decision...I am not sure how the environment and social ethics for contract staffs working in Clients workplace in Singapore. In Malaysia, it sucks big time where by Client doesnt give much shit about contract staffs in terms of benefits and environment.

Like they say, nothing which is easy is ever worth doing.

Btw, get yourself a good pair of gloves and comfortable safety shoes. Coz unless your just supervising with a pen and paper on the site. You may need to climb and other physical activities which involves you using either your hands or your feet.

Its best to get the 2 items i mentioned since most subi's give crap gloves and even crap safety shoes which meet the company budget allowance rather then providing something good for their workers.

Certain shell contractors are given either kings or nitti safety shoes which are the equivalent of bangla footwear. Get yourself a better pair, they usually cost around $150 a pair for a decent brand.

Nagging is one thing. The White Australia policy, One Nation Party and racial bashings are a totally different matter.

So... all of a sudden, finance people print money in Australia, vs being a cost center in Singapore?

Anyway... I think you've got your mind made up. Good luck in Australia.

Nope, I will make a jump in sg first.
But my company in sg is only a sales representative office lei and only has 1 accountant.
They offered me to transfer but I have rejected it 2 weeks ago. I don't think it will grow my career. what do you think?
It seems sg is not good for people who have experience in manufacturing company since they have more service and technological companies

Fine print...only ATM5.
Anyway, citibank has an ATM at almost every mrt station.
So StanChart, HSBC, Maybank or Citi or (forgot what bank)...you can easily withdraw money.
Unless you do not visit the mrt at all. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Guys, do you know any available common rooms within the vicinity of Queenstown? My budget is about $600-700 including PUB, and it would be great to have wifi available.

one queen size mattres, 3 doors wooden wardrobe (can't imagine it being small, cos i think 3 doors is consider medium/big) 2 luggage and 6-7 boxes. I would estimate around $100-$150. i moved mine, less than half loading cost me $100. Yours shd be about half loading.
So if you can get $50-$60 it's very good. But make sure they move from room to room.
I heard stories of movers leaving ur stuff at the car park, and u move to ur house urself.

Then its better to decide after 3-5 years. Coz i heard now Aus are going to implement new rules to further tighten the PR criteria and may be implemented as soon as next year. So that means it gets even harder to get in year after year....unless you have a very unique skill that very few Australian or Australian PR has or significant experience (like senior management). Kinda like getting a green card in America via the skilled migration thingi what's it called H something.

I have the 2260's which i mainly use in the office or for meetings, i rarely use those on the field since red wings are very expensive to replace on a yearly basis. When im working, i usually use the jallate jalirok. Not as expensive as red wings and they get the job done.

Some of my colleagues personally like the timberland pro or CAT safety shoes but CAT's sole is so tough that it borders on being inflexible.

I dun think there will be any discrimination. it's pretty much in black and white. You are employee of Setsco, so your benefits will be that given by Setsco. If you are EM employee then of coz the benefits will be of EM. You can't be the employee of one company and expect the benefit of another right?
