Yesterday afternoon my bf bought a new Robo home so my current Robo not so lonely.. Although they didnt fight at daytime but at night when I took the cage up into my room when I sleep, besides the new wheel being noisy (bought a new wheel because the new Robo seems to be dominant over the current wheel in the cage and the old Robo looks so kelian cuz no wheel to play), I heard them both giving that 'chit chit chit' sound once in a while.. each 'chit' sound around few seconds only.. Im wondering, r they fighting over the wheel or something like that ? it's not long 'chit' sound, but did have a few times they 'chit'.. perhaps they just too new to each other yet and being territorial? both are males by the way...

Today they did get along well.. no more 'chit chit' sound..

Experts can help me out ?

Hmm, if they didnt fight with each other, i guess its ok i guess. But the chit sound is actually a warning to each other. Its like one of them is trying to dominate the other.

hahaha.. Ya loh... actually I had another female Robo at home but she passed away yesterday morning, so my bf bought me a new one. Her 'partner' I can see that is still quite young, and the new one is older as his size is twice bigger also.. The minute I introduced them both, the new one already took over the wheel.. left the smaller one alone, wanna climb into the wheel to play also kept falling off...

dont know wanna laugh or feel bad for the younger Robo.. Maybe he felt intimidated.. both also males.. possible both also trying to be dominating rite ?

I just added one more Robo to my group of 3... the minute I put the fatso in, WW3 started! at first they were just chasing each other and each one rolled upon others so fast I couldnt even recognise which is which..

End up, chit non stop... i saw the fierce one! He was chasing everyone in the cage, not recognising who his friends were.... end up I realise he kept chasing off the new addition (fatso) into 1 tube and whenever the fatso came out of the tube the fierce one went and attack him.. in the end, while they both were fighting i just had to split them apart and hold the poor little fatso up and guess what, the fierce buddy was still biting the fatso sad.gif

I found fatso with a wound on his ass... aih... poor fella... now alone in another cage.. tomorrow gonna bring him see vet liao

Learn from my experience, separate them for their own safety. Mine just died less than 2 hours ago from being eaten. sad.gif

It's weird not hearing the other making a lot of ruckus in the cage now.
*
Yeah... i can understand how you felt when you witness them tearing each other apart sad.gif

Now the fatso in another cage... Looks so depressed aih ~

After getting rid of the lil brother body today, I cleaned the cage, gave the other fella a little washing and left him on his own for now.

Didn't bother spoiling him as before.

Not going to punish him but will take a while for me not to see him as a 'killer'. On the bright side, I learn something new about hamsters.

I think we better just accept the fact that we can do nothing as this is just a part of hamsters nature.. we do what we can... but still love them as they are our pet since we decided in the first place that we gonna keep them and give them a good life

OMG! My hamster just gave birth to 3 babies!

OK this is definitely a mistake from the petshop.. when I bought them I didnt really intend to breed this time.. so I bought all males.. at least they told me all are males... Now.. I realised I got a female @.@

No wonder last night I saw my male humping the other one (female)... I thought he was gender confused lol..

Anyway, Im glad the male didnt eat up the babes and the female also didnt do it.. I spotted them when I saw both inside their house with pinkish babes moving under the female's tummy.. No wonder the female suddenly grew very fat I thought I fed them too much haha.. now the male is inside another temporary container while the mamiz is playing the wheel.. gonna get a new cage tonite !

Im a proud mom !! biggrin.gif

Hi, congratz on your new babies. However I would advise taking out the wheel as the babies could crawl under it while the mummy is running and hurt themselves. It's good that the father is separated. Don't disturb the mummy - just feed her protein stuff and leave her alone as much as possible so she doesn't get stressed and kill her babies. She will know what to do with her litter. Most importantly, do not touch the babies or go near them to avoid getting your scent all over them.

I think plc do have online shopping?

Btw separate the male with the female because they could breed and it will be another whole lot of mess. Even though they are babies, best to separate them early.

Haha.. thank you very much~ I took out everything dee, the only thing in the cage are the food bowl , water bottle, and her nest house.. she ah very notti, always left the pups wriggling here and there.. while she went around and climb here climb there.. dig burrows all the way.. sometimes she just 'burried' her pups due to her digging and looked here and there , like wondering 'huh? where r my pups?' then she finally found them after another few session of digging and then she milked them wub.gif

The dad is now very proud of himself.. kept showing off his 'thing' after grooming 'it' doh.gif

Hey your little chubster.. very cute laugh.gif

BTW i couldnt find the brands suggested for nursing hamsters like the ones mentioned on page 1 of this thread... PLC dun bring them in anymore izit ? I ended up getting another pack of Vitakraft Menu Vital.. can be good for her too yea ?

congratz. Its normal, my male hamster also have his genitals pointing out while grooming.

Usually its best to let the mum nurse the babies no matter if she is careless or dosent do an excellent job with it. Only if something happens to the mum then we should nurse the babies ourself. You can also fed mealworms to the mother to regain her strength as its high in protein & they love to eat it. Just make sure you cut the head off incase she didnt eat it & store in her pouch instead, that will ensure the mealworm wont hurt her or the babies it came into contact.

Also bread soak with milk is good too. You can give that but not so much la  laugh.gif
rubbish room?  blink.gif
probably another case where parents buy hamster for their kids because they looks adorable in display but now bored with it already. Good thing you did there sir...glad you found them smile.gif
*
OKay.. another reason for me to get mealworms.. I tried to persuade myself to get mealworms for my sugar gliders but the thought of ickiness shut it off lol
So, you guys normally use fingers to hold the worms then another hand hold the blade to cut the head off isit ? do they have 'liquid' squirt out ah after u cut off the heads? notworthy.gif
Gonna get mealworms later.. can I ask how many mealworms do you normally feed a nursing hammie? And how often per day? Everyday?

Thanks! smile.gif

for my case its different because my hamster will straight away eat the mealworm, so i dont see a reason to cut its head off. You can use fingers but some feel its disgusting so i think you can get a tweezers & use that also. Yeah you can use a blade & cut its head off then & nope they dont have liquid squirting out...but inside is a little soft & moist....

For nursing hammy i am not sure, i think you need to google more info about it. For normal condition i usually give them twice a week (sometimes once a week if i forget  laugh.gif ). Around 5-7 worms at night if its time for mealworm. Too much is bad just like sunflower seed and they can also get quite fat if you give them too much. You can get it for RM1 & that also is way way too much for me.
*
Ooo icic... i was telling my bf i better prepare all the ka chang and he laughed at me.. then i said if i can i breed! then he sweat.gif lol cuz I never liked to touch worms but im doing it for the pets at home

Anyway, I went to the petshop and ask just now, he said 1 cup of mealworms RM1.. but too bad today no stock, only tomorrow got stock.. i better go Pet Family tonite hopefully they have mealworms for me smile.gif

I did a small research just now, some say 1 mealworm a day, then i saw LYN here, pictures of few mealworms inside a container which the female hammie is in.. lol
Will continue to research biggrin.gif

I never try to feed mealworm. Will try to buy for them. By the way,i also feed them with oil palm.i meant the biji. Taught by my mom since i was a kid. Im sabahan. Went to estate quite often when i was a kid. Those rats n birds love to eat them. Make their fur nice n rich in bla bla. Surprisingly,my condo in kl has one oil palm tree..pick from there n feed them.the tree is always surrounded by birds n squirrels.i pick their leftover..
