Well, usually mine will open their eyes in between 2 to 3 weeks.
After that, they will be VERY active in the cage, running around.
After around 25 days, should be ready to let go.

I'm thinking of letting go 1 of my WW pearl female as she haven't give birth until now. smile.gif

i see.. then i think next week any day the babies will open their eyes already. I can see them start moving with eye close, have fur like the dad, and eat some oat too =)

Ic.. if she dont breed its ok, just take care of her. Maybe its not mature enough yet =)

Oh ya, anyone can suggest easy to find healthy food for hamster? Because basically im feeding them with oat, and some mixture of hamster food in a bag bought from pet store. I see u guys feeding them with worms, any additional advice from u guys? icon_rolleyes.gif

hi all.. my syrian giv birth to 4 babies. 2 of them died within this few days. I saw there are like red-nose look. Afraid that the babies is infected with bacteria or anything harmful. I also afraid that its the mother who cause the death..

will too much of bedding will cause them suffocate from breathing? (because the bedding block the baby nose)

currently another 2 babies sleep outside of the cage. Shall i seperate the babies from the mother? They about 3 weeks old alrdy.

If i duwan let the mother to feed on the milk, which i dun think the mother will feed, is there any alternative that i can feed on to babies? planning to seperate the babies with the mother 2nite and put them into tofu fah box.

alternative such as: nutritious enough for syrian babies.

buy formulated milk to feed the babies if u dunwan mom to feed it. But it is very troublesome coz u need to feed them every few hours.. What brand bedding u use?

Copy and paste from website.

At 10 days or sooner they will begin crawling out of the nest. Their eyes and ears are not open yet, but they follow their sense of smell to find food. When they do this, you may want to begin feeding enough greens and fruits for them also, but chop them up in very small pieces to make it easier for them. If they don’t have that moist food and only eat their mother's dry food, they will dry up her milk supply, especially with a very large litter. They need the moisture from the fruits and vegetables as well as her milk. You will also want to make sure that the water bottle is low enough for them to reach it now.

Pretty soon, the babies will become rounder and fuzzier, and look more like hamsters. They can be weaned as early as 18 days, but it is better to keep them with the mother for 28-30 days. Males can be taken away a little sooner. These babies are 3 weeks old (21 days), and this is when I usually separate the males from the mother and the rest of the litter.
Just to let u know , i separated my male babies from the mother at 20 days old. Females at 23 days old. But it is winter white.  I think u can separate ur babies from mom already. Have they opened their eyes yet?

i use chipsy bedding. I put the 2 surviving babies into shoe box, A4 paper as base, 2nd layer with tissue, then only i put bedding. For the greens and fruits, i tot that hamster will having diarrhea if eat these? Because they eat dry food i think.. can apple/ Cantaloupe/ honey dew suitable for them?

my hamster open their eyes since 3th week.. now i think almost 5th week d.

I do not know what happen when i put them inside box, 1 of them seems broken his leg. Then both of them now eyes like close again, looks like bleeding. My GF said their eyes is growing so they close it back.. can someone confirm me on this eye thing?

Added on October 9, 2011, 6:06 pm4 babies, 3 of them who looks most like the father, died. 1 died just now. left the 1 tat looks healthy, can run from me at least when i wan touch them. haiz..

first time have hamster babies then like that. haiz

Im sorry for u loss sad.gif. In a litter , u have to know that not all 100% of the babies will survive. Just like my hamster litter ,5 out of 7 of them survived. I am no expert in syrian hamsters , but whenever i go to pet shops , the eyes of the babies will mostly be closed. Dont worry , my first time having hamster babies , the mother eat all of them  doh.gif . I was 10 year old that time , so blur about hamster.

About the greens and fruits , its okay if u give in small amount , not everyday . Its like we cant eat durian everyday right xD.

I guess u can feed apple. Not sure about cantaloupe or honey dew . I fed mine with apple. U can give them some carrots too , or u can take bread , soak abit milk and give ur hammie to eat.

Perhaps ur hammie was fighting with each other. Is your box too small? I heard that syrians are solitary and prefer to go solo.

considering they are still babies i think they not ready to fight yet. haha.. nvm ba they died d better than they suffer. Nice idea on the milk and bread, would give it a try because im buying some milk as well.

the box i think not too small for the 2 remaining babies until that time, now is one baby only. Shoe box for our thumb sized baby syrian i think its enough. They sleep more than awake. =)

Anyway will find some forumer to buy second hand cage for the baby =)
