Hi guys. I'm kinda new to this pet. Just bought a long-haired Syrian hamster and currently i am using this type of bedding, http://chipsi-streu.de/cgi-bin/wPermission...t.shtml?navid=1. Is this type of bedding suitable for my hamster?
*
there are many types of chipsi bedding which is yours? if its for hamster then should be ok...packaging should look like this

anyway i m using chipsi also, so far its good but i yet to try delikate bedding brand some say that is better...just make sure u change the bedding twice a week, other useful info all are available in the first page on how to toilet train, food etc...

u cant force them to exercise, as long as they know how to use the wheel is ok already they will use it when they want to. My hamster always like to run on the wheel doh.gif . But if u really want your hamster to get some exercise then u can buy a hamster ball & put your hamster in there for few minutes to let them run in it & exercise. But bear in mind not all hamster like the ball (some might like it) coz i bought last time but my hamster end up sleeping & peeing in the ball instead of exercising so i sold it. since my hamster exercise using his wheel so i dont need the ball la....plus at night i will take him out & let him roam in my room, u can do that too but just make sure there is nothing harmful or dangerous & keep an eye on him. laugh.gif

Recently I have been taking care of my cousin's robo while they go outstation and I realized that they started to pile up all the bedding and even tear out some of the paper from the kitchen roll tube.

Are they building a nest or something? Because I think one of them is female and one is male. Is the female perhaps pregnant now?

My aunt said they were once fooled thinking that the robo was pregnant when after 21 days, nothing happened. So, now, I'm thinking if I should prepare for her.

@Nekochan, it is kinda normal for hamsters to build nest. my baby boi build the best nest ever! u will be able to notice the tummy of the mummy hamster becoming really big and round few days before delivery. If u noticed that, then u might wanna prepare for babies biggrin.gif

Yes you should. After pregnancy , you may want to put in a small litter box there because the female will pee more than usual. I had to clean the litter box everyday when my female was pregnant! I use to put in bathing sand inside but it became all wet and soggy so i put in bedding so its not too wasteful and the next day , its fully soaked + have extra pee

Lucky my female didnt eat the babies although i everyday see her biggrin.gif. Coz whenever i see her , she will be excited , cause i have a superworm with me

will upload photos of chip after spm haha. yeah he's still super active! He got a big cage all by himself now and dont even want to use the wheel lol.

Grats on ur babies! my robo hamster last time 4 months together also never pregnant sleep.gif.

Make sure u give her some source of protein like break soaked in milk or mealworms or some sort.

For safest thing , just put boiled egg white inside her food bowl.

LOL now the mother hammy took the babies to the wheel to sleep...She made a nest there. She really loves that wheel...

I gave her the wheel knowing that she has given birth so that she can run and lose some extra energy or anything but now XD She moved the whole nest near the wheel...Now feeding her will be hard. I put all the food and water there, farther away from the nest...Now...Gosh.

My hamster is having problem now. His hand and neck is reddish in colour. Anyone know what is wrong with him or face this problem before? Also, anyone know of vet in or around Old Klang Road?

Thanks
