thats the best method to cure our hammy's boredom in my opinion. my hammy used to nag me when i was busy ignoring him during study hours...so i made him a playground also..near a heater lol |

err...sorry for the newb question,
ive known corncob beddings are not good for hamster... since theyre easily gets mouldy and can sometimes makes the hammy tercekik or block in the intestine. but what about those new fine granulate type ones? |

my technique:
instead of putting one plate with food, put multiple plates with alot of food at strategic locations, near dark and got small little opening holes or crevices(<--? lol) and make sure evry room will have at least a plate with food. plate with the least food gone shows they are hiding somewhere near the area. dont put too little food on every plate since they will start searching for food much further from their hiding places and you will end up getting confused and harder to narrow the searches. after you have narrow down the place, quarantine the room and sealed the room to prevent anything from going in and out and you should start carefully move items and search them. while you are doing this or if this task take more than a day, repeat the step of putting food in all the places you have already put, just to makesure there are no other hamster in other area. to make things easy, put a camera/video recorder and record at the area where the food on the plates are gone. hope it helps~ my hammy missing for 3 days lol due to i accidently slept while letting him play on my table |

i wished i can have them
you got 2 weeks max before you really really need to separate them individually in their cages. you can try posting in the pet store section to sell or give them away. |

IMHO,
i thought winter whites supposed to change their coat colours due to natural behavior according to the season? winter time = white, spring and summer = grey or dark grey? did you do something with the lighting near the hamster cage? sunlight? but this doenst applied to campbell i guess *never had winter white before, but seen some of my frens hammies while i was in UK having different colurs during different seasons. not sure for the pearl types though This post has been edited by LuQEE: Apr 16 2012, 01:18 PM |

Curious, how long can a hamster live without food?
planning to buy one, but probably i wont be around for a week this end of month and afraid no one gonna take care of him. you think by stimulating him to store his food helps much? |

silicone glue are safe after being properly cured,
i dont think its suitable for hammies since they love to nibble, might end up in their throat, suffocating them then.. why not just modify existing stuffs such as rounded small plastic ice cream container, make a sizeable hole by cutting it and smoothen the sharp edges using a file so your hammy wont get cuts. just my noob suggestion |
