With you owing so much to the banks, why the heck you need another card for?

I remember once you posted if KL got merchant willing to swipe your cash in exchange for cash... did you find any?
*
Decided against it as I found alternatives.

I need additional card for business purposes that's all. What's your take on my case?

It's a good thing to check our CCRIS once in a while. Well, BNM limits us to check it once everyone three months only. I wondered how's your CCRIS report looks like. No remark at all i suppose ? Mind to share   hmm.gif

All 'O's. No '1's, '2's etc as all payment done promptly.

Well, if you ask me, you are lucky if another card issuer issue you a card with CL RM20K.
*
What a meager CL. Never had such low CL even when I was a supplementary before getting my first card when I turned 21.

I was terribly surprised when you owe credit card so much money whereas you afford to settle it. What is the reason behind still using credit card?
1)Does credit card rewards u with free trip, freegift, etc? Yes.
2)Or u wan to let the govt know u in still debt & avoiding some taxes? Yes.
3)Does it cheaper to owe credit card than take loan from bank? No. More flexibility yes.
4)You are credit card lover? eg like to collect credit card Yes.
You must have yr reason for it , right? Please enlighten me

No, I doubt it. Taking a wild guess, he must be either partying hard or likes to visit our city in the heaven or maybe our neighbour resort island  brows.gif If really for business, well he must have been conned often since he's still a kid tongue.gif

How presumptuous

If it is not balance transfers, then it is either retail balances or installment plans (if you include this as outstanding balance)

Paying minimum & being charged on interest rates for the outstanding balance is not really a smart way. Anyhow it is your money & life, spend as you see fit. If it is installment plans, then it is alright.

On the new card application, since your records are clean then it should not be a problem. CL offered should be between RM 40k to RM 100k.
*
Yes mostly interest free installment plans to allow greater flexibility for cashflow.

Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Try apply UOB, OCBC and Public Bank to see what CL they give you  tongue.gif

Thanks, hopefully they have more appealing cards in the future. At the moment, none seems to interest me.

Gf just got her first principal credit card approved. Maybankard 2 Platinum. She earns RM 10k gross monthly nett about 7k+. Maybank gave her CL 20k.

Is that considered ok or low?

I believe Vanderbilt's girlfriend did submit her payslip because it is impossible to get a credit card approved without your latest payslip as supporting document. Maybank no longer allows one to apply for their credit card simply using an existing credit card from another bank as reference for months already.
*
Yes, she did. As a matter of fact, the branch manager where she maintains her maybank bank account (also the same account where her salary is credited every month by her employer) applied the maybankard 2 platinum for her on pre approved basis. She asked for her 3 months payslip and IC that's all. The branch manager said she can use her salary credit records as support document.

submit her payslip and she would get an increase.

Aiyah, if she really really needs a higher CL, ask her go get the AMEX charge card lah.
*
Not that she needs, more of curiosity and she wants to know if she's getting a good deal with Maybank.

exactly, I also blur what you mean when you said your friend want to know good deal or bad deal  tongue.gif Who really knows how banks assign credit limit for those earning RM36K and above.

If OCBC not suitable, try MBF for comparison sake. But I can tell you one card that can give her higher CL, ask her go apply CIMB VS, with her salary, she will get higher CL than her MBB 2 Plat. But will you then say she got a bad deal for he MBB 2?
*
Ok, now I understand, it is very subjective and I was being vague when I mentioned a 'good deal.'

What I meant to ask was whether is she getting a good (high enough) credit limit for her Maybankard 2 considering it is her first principal credit card or whether it is too low.

Thank you for your explanation Gen-X..

how do banks determine your credit card expiry date when processing your application? does it depend on your credit worthiness too?

i have seen cases where more than two people applied for the same card from the same bank but were given different expiry dates: one is two years from approval date, one is three years from approval date and another is five years from approval date.

what are the deciding factors when determining this? can someone please answer this?

With the implementation of the New Lending Guideline by BNM beginning 1st Jan 2012, does this mean there is no card to card application at all for all banks?

Does this mean even Priority / Premier / Privilege customers at banks need to provide income documents too?

I have a question:

Can a person who has defaulted his or her loan or being made a bankrupt hold a supplementary card in Malaysia? Does the bank conduct thorough checks when approving supplementary cardholders or they merely approve since the liability is borne by the principal cardholder?
