Hi, this is the 1st time I intend to buy some item using installment,
I'm aware that its not exactly 0%, the merchant add up 4-5% (its depend on company) on the item before swipe the card

My question is let say i buy an item worth RM2000 (after being "extra" charge by merchant), and I wanna put it under installment for 24 month so basically I need to pay RM84 per month,

1. does the total amount of RM2000 gonna appear in my statement or it just appear RM84 on that item?
2. Does it show anywhere that how much i still owe to complete the installment?
3. My limit is RM5k, so my limit will drop to RM3k until I complete the installment, correct?

1. RM84 will appear on your bill every month.

For 12, 24 and 36 months plan: Upon approval of your Balance Transfer, NO new account will be allocated. The balance transferred will be in your existing Visa/MasterCard/American Express account.

2. For mine, i took 12 months plan, it will show like this on my credit card bill.
12-Nov-2011 12-Nov-2011 BALANCE TRANSFER PLAN G : 02/12 X  RM99.92
12-Oct-2011 12-Oct-2011 BALANCE TRANSFER PLAN G : 01/12 X  RM99.92

3. Yes

4. My statement date is 12nd every month, so i guess it will show on the statement date.

Folks ... are you guys aware that merchants are not allowed to add any extras to your credit card ? Please do not condone such practice. Please be aware that merchants always manipulates the receipts for such "extras" so that it would not be seen by the bank that they have charged you extra for using credit card.

It is an offense that will be punished severely by the bank and Mastercard / VISA International.

I aware of that, but some shop offer item much cheaper that the others = low profit, they rely quantity not profit
it the shop have to bear those amount making them no profit at all, that why they giv us, customer to bear it instead of the merchant.
Unlike supermarket, their price are fixed. You dont even know if their price are already include 4-5% even if you pay cash.

You cannot justify something which is wrong to begin with to be right just because the price is cheaper.
How do you know merchant is making 0 profit or more ? This is what they tell you and if they go to the extent of preparing the cc merchant terminal to capture the Malaysian cc market users then it is part of their business cost.

I know you make the decision and consented to the extra charges but it does not make the situation right just because you can justify it. The T&C for your cc and VISA/MC T&C clearly stated this, you may attempt to read it up.

Im not trying argue with you, but that is reality

How do I know? because I'm in their shoe b4 in IT shop such as lowyat plaza last time.
because I also understand that the market is very competitive so they rely of low profit in large quantity.

I think its normal that u go a PC shop and buy stuff using CC sure charge atleast 3%, excluding those large PC superstore

btw they didnt force you to buy, they will said extra charges b4 they swipe, customer have right not to buy.
That just my opinion, im sure others have their own.

Can the merchant refuse to swipe our card if we insist not be charged extra? i.e. not selling the item to the customer
*
take this scenario, if you were the sales person

selling item under price = kena cucuk boss
not selling the item = tarak kena cucuk boss

everything depend on the boss really, if the boss felt that the item after profit and still can cover the bank charge he will allow swipe the card without bank charge. but for some hot item, maybe not.

heh, I dont know how much they charge anymore. Coz it were several years back then. Beside PC shop, each camera shop I go they will also charge, even the so called biggest online camera shop shashinki.com
they even write hitam putih there~ when I try to pay with paypal that my cc linked with.

1 thing I like to make it clear is that I was a honest sales person when I still work in a PC shop. When a customer ask for the cheapest price I can giv I really put to the lowest price. but if you said that I shouldnt charge 3% on the customer then I will need hiddenly increase the price I can giv. SO in the end I will also charge 3% for those who are paying cash. Try to think in my shoe, what would you do?

ps: mod, is this starting to off topic? if do, please delete any post that relelated, thx
