QUOTE(k3v1n @ Dec 29 2011, 01:37 PM) But the bank told me 18% is per annum.. Wat is mean by per annum? If per annum not every month charge 1.5% meh?? Why now everyday charge 18%? I really dun understand now. Actually they charge 18%/365 every day, on the balance at that day. So you will also get charged interest on interest, unless your card is an islamic card Mathematically it is about 0.05% a day. The most simplest formula (not 100% accurate) to calculate interest is principal * (1.0005)^n where n is the number of days you 'borrow'. Because interest is calculated daily, if you hold the balance for a year (without paying) it will be abt 20% and not 18%. edit typo This post has been edited by zenquix: Dec 29 2011, 04:14 PM

QUOTE(shiroikun @ Dec 29 2011, 03:21 PM) It should be 0.05% daily. Bro, 0.5% is way too high already thanks for highlighting the typo

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 10 2012, 03:01 PM) True, and it is free with 12 swipes too. Bro, you never know, they may offer 0% BT in the coming future Somemore free access to KLIA PPL. They used to have it a year ago. Just fully paid up the 0% balance transfer last month Added on January 11, 2012, 11:27 amQUOTE(gerrardling @ Jan 10 2012, 03:06 PM) For Alliance platinum, it is almost similar to SCB biz platinum. But alliance's benefits is a bit better. how much points needed to redeem GST ? 10000 points ? Yes 10k pts. Although I think the cost for vouchers is higher than normal This post has been edited by zenquix: Jan 11 2012, 11:27 AM

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 21 2012, 10:17 AM) Priority Pass (but to 13 airports only?) issued to cardholder who spent RM3K overseas. Doesn't mention priority pass but specifies Plaza Premium Lounges. Most likely some partnership with them http://www.plaza-network.com/one point that stands out is 5000 points = 1000 miles for enrich (MH)/ krisflyer (SQ)/ asia miles (CX) taking into consideration for 5x points for overseas spend, this puts their earning rate to the RM1 per mile, which is very good.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 29 2012, 08:46 PM) You can choose the currency you want to pay with. So if you choose MYR, then no additional fees. Not exactly accurate. MYR is charged at a higher rate than the actual exchange rate (ala Paypal). I have been trying to get them to charge at the local currency (leave the exchange rate to the banks) but the end result always ends up with them charging in MYR This post has been edited by zenquix: Jan 29 2012, 09:11 PM

QUOTE(ycyip @ Feb 3 2012, 03:03 PM) Thanks for advise. Need to plan and take leave one day just to go down KL =,= Haiz hassle, if only bank will state the reason for declining!! you can go to any Bank Negara office. No need to go to KL HQ. Think the difference is only how long you need to wait for the report. Did you apply with the bank where your salary is credited? I recall someone asking their branch manager to recommend as a pre-approved application. This post has been edited by zenquix: Feb 4 2012, 09:06 AM

QUOTE(goliath @ Feb 20 2012, 10:51 AM) A quick question; is it true that all banks cannot block a particular unauthorised transaction which it has not been charged to your card yet but you have received a SMS from the bank? Bank Negara mandated the sms sending so that cardholders can detect unauthorized transactions and report to the bank. Doesn't make sense if the bank say they cannot block that transaction.

As per hye's post, as long you are sure the transaction was not done by you, for safety reasons just request a new issue (new number) as your credit card details may have been compromised.
Note: knowing how HSBC works, I forsee if indeed that transaction posts, you will still have to do a dispute regardless.

QUOTE(leongal @ Feb 23 2012, 11:34 AM) i have cancelled one of my credit card, submitted the form to the customer service on the spot and the card was cut off in front of me. Thereafter, I did not receive any letter saying that it is cancel. I still see the old credit card appearing on the online account (Maybank), how do I know if it is really cancelled? I don't want to get into the hassle of having to pay for the RM50 service tax, if it is charged to me......do i need to get a letter from the bank saying that it is cancelled? in my experiece, maybank never removes cancelled cards from M2U. You have to go to your branch and do an update to M2U. There you can also check whether the credit card has been closed.
