If you have the cash and need the convenience, why not just get a debit card instead?

I'm just afraid there's fraud involved.
Maybe somehow, someone used my IC to apply for a loan. (which I do not know about)
And then, the bank saw that I have a big commitment, hence refuse to give me more credit.

Actually I don't need their credit  sweat.gif

I have credit history.
I took car loan before.
But I settled it after 2  years.

Everyone starts off without any credit history anyway.
If because of this bank reject, then where does one begin?
*
What bank are u talking about anyway? And did u know if u failed application u need atleast 6 months to re-apply ?

Doubt that your details is being used.
If your car loan settled more than 12 months ago, you ll be deemed to have no credit history. Sad but true.
First credit card would be difficult but once you get it, then all banks will rush for your business. You can even not pay the gomen yearly tax and they ll pay for you WITHOUT deducting points.
Try all the banks. Surely, one will approve.

I do have debit card but credit cards can collect points and accept internationally.
I do travel overseas sometimes for work.

Aiyo, means I am deemed to not have any credit history.
Can any forumers here confirm this? Is it really like this?

I've used my debit card internationally. You just need to inform your bank you're going out of the country.

Then your excuse for getting cc is now 'to collect points'.. not so much the "Just want the convenience of carrying less cash around " tongue.gif

Create a credit history. Do you have a relative who has a credit card? Ask them to supplement you to create recent credit history. My sister did that for me when I was in college and although I only spent like RM100 a month on it and always paid it on time, it was enough for banks to approve my credit card when I got my first paying job. My first credit card had a RM5000 limit!

Why is everyone on an assumption that "No credit history" = "Bank reject"?

Well that statement is true up to a certain extend.

Ask yourself this, do you dare to lend to a person whom age is 35 and above yet never had a housing or car loan before and all this while is living in M'sia? Especially when the age creeps up, certainly this question will pops up even more stronger to wonder why and how did he live for the past xx years with no credit records. That being said, it also depends on the person's employment type and industry.

However for a young person 20-ish whom just entered the working society, how true is the statement "No credit history" = "Bank reject"? Banks are more than happy to extend credit facilities to them if they can prove their employment and salary.

The main reason TS is being rejected is already confirmed. Thus further speculation is not needed. The only thing now is for TS to find out which bank the fraudulent loan is from and lodge a formal complain with the said bank with hopefully BNM's assistance.

That is why it's advisable to check one's CCRIS record once a year to double check that identity theft had not happened.

for credit card applicants, if you dont have credit history is perfectly normal (many are 1st time applicants, like TS). Either someone has used your name to register for some loans or you've been blacklisted before by bank/institution cause you owe them money.

Check properly to avoid any future troubles

you can go to any Bank Negara office. No need to go to KL HQ. Think the difference is only how long you need to wait for the report.

Did you apply with the bank where your salary is credited? I recall someone asking their branch manager to recommend as a pre-approved application.

Don't know where to ask so I guess this is the right thread for it.

I'm planning to buy airlines tickets worth around RM9K today. Which cards is better or gives the best value for money (in terms of promotions, rewards points etc etc)

These are the cards I own

1. HSBC Signature
2. HSBC Gold MasterCard
3. HSBC Amanah Platinum
4. Citibank Platinum
5. Maybank 2x Platinum MasterCard
6. Maybank 2x Amex Platinum

Have so many cards but not sure which one to use. Credit limit is no issue.
