Not really. Some Starwood Hotels such as Sheraton Seoul D Cube do provide complimentary internet access to all SPG members even if you are just a regular SPG member, which is why i said "select Starwood Hotels" in the first place  smile.gif

Initially i also thought that only SPG Platinum member can use the internet for free but i later found out that it is free as long as my SPG membership is still valid on the day i check-out from the hotel. It's quite tricky because it is not mentioned anywhere, not even inside the hotel room that internet access is free for all SPG members of all tier levels. I found out on my fourth night staying in that hotel when i called the receptionist to enquire about the internet rate. I used the paid service from Olleh WiBro by KT on the first few days and ended up paying KRW48,000 on the day i returned the Olleh WiBro at Incheon Airport. Spent KRW48,000 = RM135.84 which i did not have to  cry.gif

By the way, SPG members staying at Sheraton Seoul D Cube wishing to use the internet also have to login like everyone else. Once on the login page, just choose the per hour rate or 1-day rate. The per hour rate is KRW6,000/hour while the 1-day rate is KRW18,000/day. You will not be charged a cent on the day you check-out  thumbup.gif

Much better now, I bet Citibank will come back here soon and advertise since now they have promo RM150 cash back for new applicants.

To All: I just published a short article on HSBC 10X Reward Points and OCBC Additional 2% Cash Back for Overseas Transactions.

The HSBC Promo only good for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and capped at RM3,300/card

OCBC promo applicable on all days but they only allocated RM8000 per week. Looks like those swiping on weekends won't be getting the 2% but still got chance to win the MacBook Air.

Click here to read my article on Overseas Promo.

Since we are at this surcharge topic, let me share my recent experience. I inquired the price of a watch at Sincere Watch Pavilion and proceed to ask if they accept AMEX. Upon hearing this, the sales advisor said there will be a surcharge for AMEX but not for MasterCard/Visa. I would like to know, can we complain to AMEX in this case because only AMEX gets surcharge. Thank you.

Added: I just contacted The Hour Glass Pavilion and the sales advisor said there is no surharge for AMEX. AMEX will charge them, and zero charge for customers. Great!

p/s Sorry if it is inappropriate to post the name of the companies, just sharing  smile.gif
*
Yes, you can complain to AMEX.

And yes, Hour Glass did accept my AMEX without surcharge when I bought a watch early this year where at that time AMEX got promo 15% cash back.

Thanks Bro for pointing out above, that is a very important criteria. Updated my blog.

QUOTE(ben83 @ Nov 20 2011, 08:33 AM)
Recently I just bought few AirAsia tickets and got charged for RM 8 per way & per person for convenience fee. I wanted to enjoy the MBB VI insurance coverage but in the end was charged way higher than the regular 2-3% cc surcharge (since my tickets only worth RM 500+). This is absolutely absurd & Airasia is actually making money from this, for example my case.
*
AA is making money from us paying for the tickets, taxes and whatever charges months in advance. Imagine how much they earn from interest itself. Not only that, they also make money by delaying like forever refunds for airport tax when we do fly on the day we book the tickets. It has been a year since I requested for my airport tax to be refunded, but up to date, still have yet to receive it. After credit card, I think AA model of collecting money upfront is the best way to make money out of nothing.

To all: RHB is now offering 0% 6 months Balance Transfer Plan until 31 January 2012. This is great, at least I may actually benefit from my RHB Plat in January 2012 when CIMB and MBB 0% BT expire. Was wondering how to maximize returns from my children's school fees in January with credit cards and now I got my answer smile.gif

Click here to read my short article on RHB 0% 6 months balance transfer plan and 0% installment for iPad2.^

Talking about credit card surcharge, here's what some merchants are advertising at garage sale

> [WTS]Google Android Phone in Malaysia (ORI) 17/11, Moto,LG,Samsung,HTC,SE,Huawei,Acer,ZTE (Samsung)
Note: Maybank 0% interest for installment. For RHB 9% shocking.gif

Same guy > [WTS]【IMCC ORIGINAL HANDPHONE SPECIALST SHOP】, FULL RANGE PRODUCT !!! C.CARD (17/11) (LG)
Note: Here +5% for Maybank Installment

Make more sense to use a card without surcharge and if want installment convert to 0% Balance Transfer

Zero Annual fee and low credit limit?

What you mean by beginner? If you read vanderbilt post above, beginner also can get RM20K credit limit and Free For Life annual fees.

I fulfils all criteria, and even have an account with the bank.. yet my application was rejected... I m quite annoyed now...

How's your CCRIS records? How long have you been working? Is your company a MNC? What is your occupation? Did they call your office or home or mobile phone and no one answered it? You don't have to answer this questions here but just to let you know besides income, there are other criteria that banks look into when they process your application.

But I would like to know which bank rejected your application.

If you go to HSBC thread, there's a guy with Platinum card having CL RM3K. Maybe your credit history record is too "clean" haha. Anyway, try CIMB or banks you have accounts with.

i'm sorry i'm a little bit blur why are we using ocbc as the yardstick here?
*
exactly, I also blur what you mean when you said your friend want to know good deal or bad deal tongue.gif Who really knows how banks assign credit limit for those earning RM36K and above.

If OCBC not suitable, try MBF for comparison sake. But I can tell you one card that can give her higher CL, ask her go apply CIMB VS, with her salary, she will get higher CL than her MBB 2 Plat. But will you then say she got a bad deal for he MBB 2?

**Edited**
CL does not mean anything, it's the cardholder spending pattern that is of importance when considering a credit card.

For examples:

If one gets CL of RM10K for OCBC TMC, does that mean he or she got a bad deal? The OCBC TMC is only good for up to RM1K transactions with the 5% cash back. RM100K CL with OCBC TMC is useless.

Compare CIMB VS where CL is RM50K but only earns the cardholder 1X points to MBB 2 AMEX, which is better for transactions at Louis Vuitton or when buying groceries at TESCO?

And like I said, want higher CL, go get AMEX charge card and enroll into Turbo Points and earn 1.5% equivalent cash back.

I received my MBB VI Priority Pass Membership card by courier, I guess many members yet to get their Priority Pass Membership Card because my number is 436500 00000000XX, that means I am most probably among the first 100 MBB VI cardholder to be issued PPM card. Unlike PB CC, certain numbers are allocated to PB customers which I don't think Priority Pass does it. If I tell you the last two digits of my number, you guys won't believe me.

I only like to watch the girl group performing, where they all look the same to me, but all have nice legs biggrin.gif The odd thing is the girls can jump up and down but don't sweat.
I don't think they accept AMEX. If you see Ticket Charge website, only Visa and MasterCard. Show you my another PPM card, which is from another bank. Now only I realised that  it's using same number with MBB aslo (1st 4 digit)..  hmm.gif
*
Alec, I wish to have the 88 too wink.gif

If you don't mind, this other PPM card from which bank? Odd that it shares the same first 4 digit with MBB VI. Maybe then again not, how many digits does this card have compared to MBB VI's PPM.

All this while I though that the PPM card first 4 digits will be similar to the credit card first 4 digits. My other PPM cards have same first 4 digits with EON VS and SCB VI.

I just checked my wife's PPM that comes with CB PremierMiles and the first four digits are different. Citibank VSPM first four digits 4322 whereas the PPM card 8883 (nice number).

Bro, I didn't even realise that EON VS share the same first 4 digits with MBB VI until I saw your pic above and then go double check mine. Noted, 1st 6 digits same as card.

But the EON VS PPM card only has 12 digits [mine also 1st 100 smile.gif ] but the MBB PPM 16 digits.

Your PPM for RHB Plat still can use? I use to have one from RHB Plat many years ago but last year reapply RHB Plat no more PPM..

BTW, I think RHB aslo no longer issued PPM to its Platinum card member, right?  tongue.gif

Yah, MBB VI 2X TP better than HLB VS 1.5 points for local spending, overseas no need to say MBB VI way better.

My annual fee for the HLB VS coming up next month since I spent less than RM30K with it. 2 weeks ago I insisted that Ex-EON Call Centre rep confirm to me if they are waiving the coming annual fee or not, and the CS I spoke to confirmed it will be waived biggrin.gif Now considering if I should keep the HLB VS because it is White doh.gif and foolishly pay the RM50 GST doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Yah, RHB no more issuing the PPM with Plat but allow 4 free access to KLIa or LCCT or Senai.

More info for MBB VI holders:

-The free 10k TP will be effective only after the first swipe
-Transfer of TP to this VI cannot be done directly from other cards like MBB2 due to the lower air miles conversion rate. CS said MBB will adjust the rate accordingly if one insist to transfer the TP
-Priority pass (for those not given the form in the welcome package) & Starwood card membership will send to you automatically after 2 weeks

Today I receive my Starwwood Privilege card via courier. just like ben83 said. But my Priority Pass card no where to be seen. So called CS and he said the PP application form should be inside my MBB VI welcome kit (usually the case for Citibank PremierMiles and SCB VI). After I said no, he said he'll fax to me the form. The after I susah susah set up the fax, the same  CS called and told me he won't be faxing over but he will do the necessary arrangement on his side and forward my info to the relevant department for my Priority Pass Membership to be issued. Pretty good service.

Also asked when MBB going to charge me GST, and he said 2 to 3 months time and system shows that the free 10,000 TPs not yet credited into my account.

Overall I must say MBB VI Tol Free CS are very courteous and helpful.

I think I'll think twice about eating food in the PPL, KLIA. My stomach could be too sensitive but it got very upset after eating the food there. (Sandwich + noodles) Second time already having such problems. Noodles always too salty.

You too a Kpop fan? Bro, what you like about KPop and you know Korean language? Paula or whomever gets the group can learn a thing or two from KPop for next season X-Factor. Anyway, for both of you Mods, here are some videos for you smile.gifl Put on headphones and set volume to max for the countdown video and it be like as if you went to the concert and your ear drums damaged tongue.gif

As for the food at PPL, I guess you have to eat more often so that your stomach can adapt to it tongue.gif Seriously, I never touch sandwiches as I don't know how long ago it was prepared. Recently, no one reported anything good about the food at PPL. I just want free coffee biggrin.gif And who it the right mind (non transit) would pay USD27 to enter KLIA or LCCT PPL when we can get much much better food else where.

Sorry to hear abut your predicament.

So did you go to the Financial Medication Bureau and met them there? Is yes what happen?

I don't think it is the bank's duty to go trace who stole the card. Odd that they mentioned about the CCTV thingy to you.

So, did they ask you to pay up and charging you interest now?

As far as I can see, your case similar to Diane Chee's case. If the bank is demanding that you make payment for the fraud charges, I guess you better go seek legal advise and sooner the better instead of letting them imposed interest charges and having bad payment records.
