i came across a roadshow that held in my nearby shopping center today. The sales person told me HSBC is offering 8% cash rebate discount in grocery, petrol and dining. Its valid until the end of this year. Anyone can confirm this?? The card he intro is HSBC Gold.

He also told me they will waive the annual fees and government fees for the 1st year with only 3 swipes. Is this true?  ohmy.gif

I have a question, if my credit limit is rm4000k, I have already used up to rm3600, will I still able to swipe for rm600?

Is there any charges and how will it affect my scores?

NO. ur transaction will be rejected.

go pay rm300 at least or more first into your card account. it will free up the balance of the CL.

CL = 4000, recent = 3600, available = 400

pay = 300, available = 700

It is very obvious that your transaction will be declined / rejected by the bank.
What are you trying to do ? It seems your action is intentional and deliberate by yourself.

I do have experience on this.
Few years ago, my spending reached my CL, however, i m still can use my card up to RM2K, which exceed my CL.

So, i guess it's depending on which bank, not all bank allow this? Luckly that bank didn't charge me overlimit fee..

Yes ... not all bank allow this and yes ... there's that overlimit fee (varies from bank to bank) you need to worry about. Plus the amount overlimit must be paid in full, the 5% rules does not apply for the overlimit amount. If it is accidental then it is OK since most people don't keep track of the CL utilization, however the person who asked the question was aware of his current CL standing but (seems) wants to intentionally exceed his CL.

The T&C for most banks have changed since then. Last year SCB, immediately blocked my card the moment an overlimit occurs. Need to clear CL before card is unblocked by the bank which took a few days after payment is done.

This also varies from bank to bank. AFAIK, most banks dont block your card if you over swipe it. It just reject that particular transaction. They will call you and verify if it was you that did the transaction.

Recently I tried to swipe 1.6k into my PBB card but it was rejected because I didnt know it hit the CL already. Immediately, 2 calls (both different officer called and verify whether if I was the person that did the transaction or not). Hours later, I used the same card and swipe for something that was within my credit limit and it went through without any hiccup.

From personal experience as well, I have swiped above my CL various times with no problems and no overlimit fee (AMEX Gold Credit Card as well as MBBKard2) subject to the amount. As I expected to exceed CL, I did telephone AMEX's CS beforehand who informed me that there is usually an allowance of RM1,000 (above the CL granted) for those with good credit/payment records. Once you exceed the aforesaid allowed sum, transactions will be declined.

As an update to my earlier post on "Purchases from Apple Online via CIMB/Direct Access Credit Card" at pg 1 and in the spoiler below, CIMB/DA declined my transaction dispute as well as appeal for waiver of the extra cross border fee charges. Well, once their BT promotion is over and there is no additional incentive, perhaps it's time to cut the card.

I was JK, anyway good for you that your wife does not want debts.

OT: Click here to read about my post on my thoughts regarding the wife's club at Ringgit Wise Fool.

I also just posted an article titled Credit Cards are Cash Cow for Banks. Are you working for the banks? I must admit that I did overspent with banks offering 0% plan for this and that sad.gif

Click here to read my article Credit Cards are Cash Cow for Banks. In this article I mentioned about 0% Installment Plan, BT and other benefits of credit cards that entices us to spent beyond our means. And then we are imposed interest rate which is damn high. And that credit card is the best product in the world to make money.

Not sure if I get you here but previously there was no need to print anything when ordering online. Just click click click fill the blanks and then just wait for the pizza to be delivered. Normally the riders would say 'dah bayar kan?' and I'd say 'yup'. laugh.gif

I've no idea if they still have the mobile cc terminal though... from my experience the pizza hut riders always forget to bring the terminal despite the receipt clearly stating "AMEX/ VISA / MASTERCARD required".

Plus their number is not exactly toll free.. so yeah that's why 'pay online'.

Added on June 7, 2011, 4:40 ambtw, any Coffee Bean regulars here?

Just wondering if there's a minimum amount required for cc payment. Don't wanna get into an embarrassing situation; just like the time when I tried to pay a RM10-ish bill at Secret Recipe with cc a few years back.. laugh.gif
