hi good evening Se7en and gold tags, i wish to give my feedback about the ignore function.

In my humble opinion, i believe that the ignore function doesnt really help much. Usually if a person is being ignore, 9 out of 10 times the reason is him being annoying, and ignore function serves its purpose by totally cancelling out the presence of that particular person so he wont be an eyesore. But in LYN forum, even after ignoring, you can still see his post (its censored) with the option of "You have chosen to ignore XXX. View this post · Un-ignore XXX" on the thread, which i believe, defeats the purpose of the ignore function.

PM wise, its a great job because i wont receive PM from the person i ignore.

In addition, if someone else quotes his post, you will still be able to see his post.

With all due respect, I believe the ignore function should work like those in facebook, not only you cant view their post , they cant view your post too. Like each other never existed before.

Thank you for reading my opinion, I hope the moderating team will consider my feedback.

Regards,
Lampard.

The IGNORE is actually to avoid the user accidentally seeing the post from the blocked member. Its like someone talks to you but you don't want to listen(although you know he/ she's talking). The option "View this post" denotes the same situation as you ask him/ her to repeat what was mentioned.

Feedback considered, but as it's a petty cosmetic request I don't think I'll change it. Sorry. But if it really bothers you, you can write (or hire) a greasemonkey script to remove what you don't like.

@wKkaY i actually thought about it long time ago ( about the script part ), may i use this opportunity to ask, are scripts/bots allowed on LYN? because most of the forums i know prohibited external scripts/bots or any third party program

Reusing this thread as I have a question on the ignore function.

Sometimes, it works, sometimes it doesn't; at least for me.

Sometimes I see the post made by the person on my ignore list, sometimes I don't. Anyone experiencing the same thing?

Would like to bring this issue up again.

As you'll know, there's this guy that flood the board with illicit pictures during the festive season when most of the mods are off duty.

And like TS brought up, the ignore function doesn't really ignore his post completely, which hinder our browsing experience, especially when there're underage around.

I hope the admin will reconsider hiding all the post from a person in the ignore list, includes his/her post in the topic that we create, his/her post in quoted by other users, etc.
