Insurance also considered a kind of investment ? In the sense of providing financial security if there case some unfortunate event happen to us ?

But what I understand from insurance is that we need to pay it every month but the money will not return to us in the future. Insurance just provides us sense of security ?

Not sure bout this though. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Money kept in insurance will be returned to you when the policy expires. And yes, with interest.

Financial planning covers 6 areas :
1) cash management
2) tax management (what are tax deductibles?)
3) investment (unit trust, equity, etc etc)
4) risk management (insurance)
5) real estate (buy house etc)
6) retirement. (how to finance yourself after retirement)

educate yourselves in this areas and you can be finance savvy.

If I'm not mistaken, nowadays there are some insurance products giving more return compared to the conventional life insurance. I think education insurance should be one of them. The fund can be withdrawn when our kids go for tertiary education. And also there're some saving insurance where interest is higher than FD. Does anybody has info about this?
*
Even though insurance sometimes provides returns higher than FD .. we dont see it as an investment. Insurance is a part of our risk management (what happens if I need thousands of ringgit for medical bills? I dont wanna sell my house/car.)
When buying insurance, dont look at the returns, look at the coverage. That's the main point of insurance.

Err ... we are not supposed to talk about return when it's about insurance. Insurance shouldnt be treated like investment. (i.e dont expect good ROI when buying insurance, just make sure the coverage and price are reasonable)

hello to all investment ppl or experts out there tongue.gif I've a question, how do you guys look at those global based funds that malaysia currently has? Could it bring better gain compare to local funds(malaysia based) ? Any comments? THankss.
*
It depends on how much return you expect to get. If your are hoping to get 25-30% ... that's almost impossible. ...
A good performing mutual fund can give return up to 15-18%.

Sale value = 123391
Service charge = 8637
Total amount  = 114754
Net profit over 3 years = 14754
Annual returns =  4.918%
Wrong calculation pidah.
Correction. No fee is imposed on selling. So you shouldnt have deducted 8637 when you sell.

123391 = 100,000 * (A)^3
A = 1.073

7.3% compounded ROI for 3 years.
Much better than FD.

wateva, so may i ask wat is investment for ? to use money to make more money is the main point rite ? n there is plenty kind of investment which is save n having high payback, but all of them need pretty much capital...so for those normal lifestyle citizen...wat can they do ? work for hol life to get tat amount ? lolz...tats stupid n capycatting the past generation's lifestyle....in 80s the best way to get rich is do business such like open shop n make it franchise, in this century do u think tat still work ? so ? wat is the most worthy's things in these days ?

I personally know a couple who sells nasi lemak on the roadside every morning 7-10 am. They make RM2000 nett per week. How complicated it is to sell nasi lemak ? How much capital you need to start such business?
Not all business requires high start-up capital. The key question is, are you willing to start from the bottom or not ?

...
its truth alot fella fails in this field but its their own problem who dare not to walk out their own lifestyle.
for the post who said tat earn 2k in a week selling nasi lemak, do u think b4 how much they have paid for it ? i'm not just meaning the money cost they paid but also the time n freedom......for sure there r many mlmers spend 24 hours on it too but tat means he or she is very successful in it, n also means they may retire from it soon n may do the real n high payback investment soon.
...
*
Those nasi lemak sellers wake up at 5 am each morning, start cooking, sell the nasi lemak and finish selling at 10 am. They can go back home a sleep. Many people work 8 am- 8pm every day and make less than Rm2500 a month. How many people work 6 hours a day and make Rm 8k per month ?
And yes .. nasi lemak seller can retire too once the business grow big and they hire people to do all the work. Also how much capital is needed to start nasi lemak business ? Do the math. Just because they dont drive BMW you assume they are poor.

Dude, fix your grammar and spelling. You want us to take you seriously, you better type seriously.
And stop claiming your poor English as Manglish. Call it Kennienglish or something else.
