yup, i havent update the driver b4 since i bought this lappy.. It makes difference?

if ur on stock acer driver, u will DEFINITELY experince lagging when palying crysis 2 n dirt 3. update the driver will SIGNIFACNTLY improve the performance. im playing dirt 3 at HIGH 1366x768p reso. no problem smile.gif yes , i have to use throttlestop n limit da cpu to 2.0ghz. throttling thing. smile.gif havent tried 2.3GHz yet. not time smile.gif

sinec we're in the subject of throttle stop, ive been wondering, at wat minimum cpu speed, will the cpu not bottleneck the gpu? becoz, certain gaming may support cpu scalling. albeit a little % smile.gif

i think u should teach us user how to update our "optimus" driver at the first page. since acer doesn't update our lappy driver regularly on their website. smile.gif

hace u tried da latest 280.26? i didnt have to use modified INF file.

^ well 275.33 was an official driver too but i had to use the modified INF. i was surprised that 280.26 doesnt require me to use modified INF. it detects my GPU just fine smile.gif

Added on August 16, 2011, 9:28 amneed help, do u think, an IBM-compatible OEM spare part, can fit into Acer laptops? IBM-compatible usually means universal rite?

here's da item :

http://goo.gl/74Dpj

im also thinking about buying this one, but it says its for macbooks, but 4830TG uses a 9.5mm superslim dvd drive...theoretically, it shud work. juz daz, quite worried about the external SATA connector location.

^ agree man.. they placed the USB port not so strategically..

keyboard is ok for me too but personally i feel tat it is not as good and comfortable as my old inspiron 1420.

me too i didnt face any heat issues too and i dun understand why the other owners are facing tis kind of prob. the cooling is so efficient tat it's so much better than my old lappie.

uh...try playing crysis 2, VERY HIGH, directX 11, 1366x768p reso, without air cond. or try dirt 3, HIGH preset at 136x768p reso wo air cond, just fan smile.gif

I tried on crysis2, with my cooler pad. without air cond. 1366x 768. Max 81c and maintaining at 70c~79c.
But I seldom play such high requirement , just play nfs with usb controller and sc2 would be enough. 50c~69c
*
wah u can get by w just a cooler pad? lucky smile.gif but i think, its becoz ur not stressing the cpu+gpu enuff.not sure. but i play like 2 3 hours continously. just isntalled darksiders (2010). havent tried dat one yet, not sure will thre b any throttling or not. also thinking about isntalling bioshock 2...im looking forward to prototype 2 and DMC5 tho smile.gif

u can set it not to power the usb once u have shut down the com...
how u update? mind post the guide so i can include in the 1st post...
*
well this is the steps wat i did :

1 - DO NOT UNINSTALL current driver <<--maybe its the reason dat optimus is working after driver update
2 - download lates driver from nvidia.com ---> double click n EXTRACT ,dont isntall YET
3 - go to laptopvideo2go.com forums, n look for da latest official Nvidia driver (eg. 280.26) n download the INF file (will be included in the thread) <---simply click "INF MODIFIED" -->> "nvwi.inf" is the file
4 - copy the "nvwi.inf" file n paste/replace it into C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\280.26\Vista 64-bit\International\Display.Driver
5 - then install the driver by double clicling SETUP.EXE
6 - there shud b no "compatible hardware not found" error message.

*note - for 280.26, u actually do not have to do this but for 275, i had to do it.

just use the instructions for general guide in case there's some1 who face this problem.

well..i'd personally recommend 4830tg bbecoz of da heat issue thing. 3830 is much more cramped. and also, u can do wat im planning to do w my 4830tg, im going to isntall a HDD caddy so dat, i can use an SSD and HDD at the same time. two drives smile.gif

shud i get a notebook cooler? honestly speaking, im a no belivers of coolers. becoz the fans blow air at the middle of the laptop and no crucial parts like the exhaust. in our case its on the top left side, since the fan is so cuuuuteee, buying one of those high RPMs fans and put it directly under the tiny fans, i assume wud b so helpful
