i bought it at end of april i think it was the 24th. stopped caring about battery wear long time ago. my mission is to use the battery heaviliy, n get it replace before the 1st year warranty period ends.

im pretty sure, ur very happy w ur lappy now. no more throttling. ur throttlestop, is set to wat GHz? have u tried 1.6GHz or 1.5GHz?

calibrate? drain the battery completely and full recharge is it? twice?

i was considering those changeable fan coolers, 1 large fan cooler, or mulltiple fan coolers. noise doesnt relaly bother me. replace w hgh rpm fans seems like a good idea...can save on electricity bill (turn off air cond)

wah..thanks ya to those who suggested me to calibrate battery. b4 this, my battery wear level was 17 % with capcity being around less than 56000..n now...after calibration, its now at 7% and my capacity has bounced up to 60k++

nvidia's next gpu i think will b intro duce very late of 2011 or early 2012, n da mobile version wud b months aftr dat. so...might as well just wait for ivy bridge

aish..u cannot generalize it like dat....the heat issue happens due to bad design, poor cooling. it also happens to lenovo,asus, hp and etc.

as long as it is not in a thin laptop i guess u can ask owners of asus n45sf. their laptops have gt555m albeit a crippled version of it.

woah..full range of hdd benchmark.thanks! i think my caddy is significantly slowing my HDD. i load games much slower than before ( i installed games on HDD not SSD) and sumtimes, i get crashes,lockups accessing the HDD. the caddy is poorly built, ive already talked w the seller, saying that i cannot boot from the caddy and that it is so slow.

wat do u mean? when on battery, the SATA that originally belongs to optical drive is on power saving mode or something? and if it is on power saving mode, it wud stop the device connected to the sata port or decrease performance? btw, im on AC when i did the benchmark.

a little something to worry about 4830tg owners...so...according to CPU-Z, our motherboards are B2 revision correct?which has been recalled a couple of months ago due to degrading SATA/chipset flaw. now...if ur use Gigabyte SATA check utility, u can see that, ur primary HDD wud be connected to SATA3 port 0 and that SATA3 port 1 would have not accommodated any drive at all and ur optical drive wud be connected to SATA2 port 2. as shown and u can even see that the utility says the motherboard revision is B2. according to Acer (Sandy Bridge Recalls Support), customers can check whether their laptops are affected or not. Technically, 4830TG's motherboard is affected and shud b replaced. So, i keyed in my SNID and S/N in to the empty box, it states that my unit does not require any service.

so..how? our optical drive is connected to the flawed chipset. it will definitely degrade over time.

so...knowing dat ur optical drive's SATA port will degrade over time, does it worry u?

da chipset flaw affects ONLY SATA port 2 and onwards. it does not affect SATA port 0 and port 1 as stated by CNET

and our optical drive is connected to SATA port 2 according to gigabyte utility...

and i quote CNET :

Issue: Affects SATA ports 2 through 5, not ports 0 and 1. Most laptops have two SATA devices, such as a hard disk drive and optical drive that would be using the unaffected ports 0 and 1. That said, Sandy Bridge-based systems with more than a couple of SATA devices could potentially be affected. The data itself is not affected. So, if a consumer had an affected system, data could be accessed by moving the storage device to another system or a working port.

well... my HDD is connected to a working SATA3 port 0.no issues there. but the optical drive is connected to flawed SATA2 port 2. i dont know whether the counting of the port number resets back when considering SATA2 ports ( i.e. starts at port 0 instead of port 2)...but gigabyte utility asks to remove the connected device to a working sata 3 port...how da hell am i going to do dat on a laptop?haha.

owh really?is there anyway i can check that other than tearing apart my laptop.haha. calling acer service centre wud b the last resort. and also the reason why HP's didnt update the revision codes, is becoz they're selling off their PC business.haha.just dont care anymore.haha
