Got VIP5 hooked up yesterday, the speed is superb I suppose, varies from 4.5mbps ~ 5+mbps. thumbup.gif

I'm based at Taman Lembah Keramat AU5 (borderline Wangsa Maju), so far my neighbours and my fellow Keramaters are having good connectivity.
Any of you live near my area should have good unifi when you subscribe.

Day 2 update:

So far pretty good. nod.gif (I'm @ Lembah Keramat AU5)

Do you guys know when will they implement the 60GB cap for VIP5? Or they did already?

i remembered if you exceed the quota (read the contract T&C), your speed will be throttle down to 10%, e.g. VIP5 will surf around or below 0.050mbps

I soo hope this cap thingy will be delayed immensely laugh.gif

Ok ok. I guess it means I'm going to have additional charges for the LAN cable from BTU to router. doh.gif
*
It's best you buy the LAN cable yourself at a PC store like LY Plaza for e.g. before the installation day. I'm sure the contractor will overcharge their LAN cable per meter. Cutting the cable to a specific length and fitting the LAN socket will give the contractor waay more workload than default, plus I don't think they are well equip for on-site LAN cable customisation. So do get your LAN cable issue settled before installation to cut your cost on the overall spending of your unifi installation. nod.gif

I seemed to have purchased a video on demand without entering a pin number, is that possible ?

I would just like to know if we really need to enter a pin number?

Thank you
*
you need to PIN in the number to confirm the VOD subscription, the tech guy/contractors explained to me during the installation day. Default pin is 123456 in my case.

Speedtest is a synthetic way to test your internet speed, you have to test your speed with real-world events like downloading files, stream youtube with HD 1080p (I'm using VIP5 and I can stream @1080p 90% of the time) etc. to really get the proper feel of your connection. nod.gif
Right now I'm torrenting @ 600mbps+, I guess most unifi users in my area are asleep, hence great traffic for me. icon_rolleyes.gif

I can't log in my Unifi customer Portal, went to a page that resets my password which sends the temporary password to my email, but it's been 3 days no emails received from TM with the temporary PW. Tried couple of time but still no avail. Is the TM server down or what? ohmy.gif

Before this, the password setup is pretty buggy, had to reset the password every time to a new password bcoz it couldn't 'register' my new PW when I want to log in the Unifi Customer Portal. rclxub.gif

Crap, I turned off the BTU and router to relocate them only 2m away, now the BTU can't connect to the router, vice versa. On the DIR615, the 'earth' icon doesn't light up and the BTU 'LAN 1 LED' also doesn't light up. The Cable are connected properly.
The phone is working though.

Is unifi setup this fragile? on then off then can't connect anymore....

try change lan cable? Maybe you break the lan cable? How about dsl led (for hg655). Not sure about landed property
*
No, using the same cable. On the Huawei, the router (WAN) is connected to 'LAN 1' (BTU) but the LED only lights briefly during restarting of the BTU, then the 'LAN 1' LED turns off, VoiP is ok.

In the router's Internet setting, is set to connect 'Always', so I presume it will connect to the internet when the router connects to the BTU.

Common, something like this need to call TM everytime?! What If I live in the area of frequent blackouts... doh.gif

I've spent almost 30 minutes with the CS just now, he told me is ok to turn off, as long as the fiber cable remained UNTOUCHED. I did turn off and turn it on back. Everything seems ok.
*
So the optics is that sensitive? I'll try to reconfigure now... sweat.gif

EDIT:
I didn't disconnect the fibre cable btw, only the LAN cable and the power adapters.

What i mean is you break it when you try to move it (low possibility though...) Erm... Why don't you try this

http://unifi.athena.my/downloads.php

follow the steps inside and try whether you can connect to unifi straight from your pc to BTU, bypassing the router. Note that the guide is meant for testing and is not well programmed. Not suitable for long time usage. Just testing. Try it see how. My router here restart 3~4 times a day... because stupid router keep disallow my housemates to connect, they've been restarting it as they can't connect since a while back. ==
*
I treat the optics cable as gingerly and possible. nod.gif

Here's a quick shabby snap of the BTU:

user posted image

I can make phone calls from the phone, doed that means the optics are fine?
from the pic above, the LAN 1 LED doesn't light up, I try to use different LAN cable other than the default one, still can't connect to the BTU

Bro, try check whether you connect power adapter correctly.
My friend once happenned to have this problem, change the LAN cable, phone cable, at last, he wrongly connect the BTU power adapter to router and router power adapter to the BTU. Change it and voila! Happy surfing!

Bro you are indeed some sort of god! haha

How could I have mistaken the adapters. doh.gif
I'd sworn I got everything connected right....

TQ again thumbup.gif

PROBLEM SOLVED.

SOLUTION: MISMATCH OF POWER ADAPTERS.

Haha give me a break, it's TM's fault for such a messy setup that someone somewhere at any given time will for sure mix up the adapters.

But a solution still is a solution, thanks Chumpz! thumbup.gif
Now back to my fast unifi surfing...

Guys, I need help here.

My friend faces disconnect frequently for his game when I start to use my PC. When my PC is turned off, there is no problem at all. Disconnect at game only, not the internet.

Another problem is, when there is more than 1 user playing Blackshot(online FPS game), 1 of the user will disconnected after few second the game starts.

So when I start my PC, my friend cannot plays his game, and we cannot we the same game at the same time.
Any solution ?
*
If you are using the TM's Dlink DIR-615, it's certain that it might contribute to the problem. For me, this router has poor bandwidth distribution and clueless in prioritizing between online games, p2p, internet, etc.
For example, if me or any of my roommate start using p2p (torrenting) the other guys will have very low bandwidth, like below 20kbps doh.gif

I'd kill you if I am one of them... That's the prob when internet is shared. Everyone  paying equal amount but some of them THINK they deserve to use the bandwidth when they wanted to. BT with no connection limit and speed limit. All other struggle to even load a webpage. haiz...
*
Now I'm researching those TM compatible routers recommended by klseet of which would has some sort of bandwidth control (or 'allocation' if I feel evil enough to hog a tad of the bandwidth;D)
I've came across an Asus router width some bandwidth prioritization features, I think it's the RT-N13U.

Anyone can pitch in about routers with bandwidth management?

It's only been a week Unifi is installed in the housedhold but massive riot on bandwidth will be somewhat imminent here... bruce.gif shakehead.gif rclxub.gif mega_shok.gif

Hi guys.

The TM guys installed Unifi this morning. So far okay but since I am using my pc in my room, the wireless signal only has 2 bars and the wireless router ( DIR 615) is in the living room. Any way to increase the signal?

First of all, go to your router setup page: 192.168.0.1

Go to Maintenance > Advance Wireless > Advance Wireless Setting > check if your wireless transmit power is 100%.
I got full 5 bars, my router is upstairs and I'm using the laptop downstairs now.

For a short term solution, @ youtube there's plenty of DYI booster that seems pretty fun to make. laugh.gif

I mentioned TP-link router. Confirm is by the firmware lo ==

http://www.tp-link.com/resources/simulator/841_v5/index.html

look under bandwidth control-> rules list

and... Someone else posted the config how he do the bandwidth allocation on the router in this forum.

Nice, this wireless router I can get it for RM85 at LYP. laugh.gif

Funny, the D-Link DIR-615 is about the same price (RM90) as the TL-WR841ND but why the TP-Link is the superior product?

I mean, the TL-WR841ND when physically compared to the DIR615 it looks much sleeker, bigger in size, and the antenna is more convincing than the DIR615...Plus the TL-WR841ND got better software features like for instance the one I really need:

Question:

I'm using VIP5 atm, can I change to BIZ5 in the future as a home user?
Any requirements? One thing I know for sure is that I need to return the TV decoder box bcoz BIZ5 doesn't have it in its package.

I don't mind paying extra RM50 when the download is unlimited, this is my PLAN A when the cap will be implement any time soon.

I understand about the slowdown. But the disconnect every 5 minutes problem due to international cable fault? Doesn't make sense.

It's no denying in the coincidence that this cable issue affects the internet over the past week thus related to your issue by some sort bizarre way by TM...yes, TM can make weird things happen that is unheard of by global standards laugh.gif
I did get the same issue as yours, but happened only once days ago, now my connection is back to normal but the internet for international surfing still suck balls sweat.gif
I miss 1080p Youtube streaming already...
