I will apply for VIP5, just wanted to ask, any recommended routers or the default router is okay(of course other routers usually will work better but any recommendations?)

Has anyone in the Ampang area experienced Unifi going down completely? All its services, iptv + phone + internet?
I have lost all connection since Monday night (12 September 2011) , I called them on the following Tuesday and they said they'd make the usual report when my service does go down(although its never gone fully down like this).
I got an odd Sms on Tuesday shortly after saying exactly this:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the delay in response with regards to your report stats (CTT#: 1-xxxxxxxxxx) TMUC should able to keep you updated on the latest update and progress regularly till the restoration completed. Please call our centre at

bla bla contact info etc

Then, approaching 4pm same day they called me. A lady said that a technician would come over to the house on 23 Sept! I tried to ask her why can't it be earlier, but she just kept asking if I would be at home at 2pm on that day for the technician...I don't know if she couldn't hear me or just didnt understand what I was saying. In the end I just said yes...nothing else to do...

I've been trying to call Unifi Call Centre but just getting the "Please hold" and really annoying loud music and ads...

My service is still completely down, I'm typing this from Celcom Mobile Broadband 7.2Mbps (which is a damn lie, I can't even get a clear 50 KB per second with this thing, not to mention constant message saying service currently unavailable. Youtube? Forget it, it takes 3 seconds just to load google front empty page)

I want to know if its my area or just me in this situation. Would it be possible to get them to charge only 50% of this months fees? Its a ripoff if I pay full for only half a months service...

Unifi 5 VIP...Black modem, usual orange white dlink wireless router...

I believe they will give you a rebate if you ask. When I was using streamyx the cable thief took a cable in the apartment and it's take about 1 1/2 month for the service to restore. TM give a rebate after I ask it using the email. Give both start date and end date. They check it out using your login.

Finally, my unifi is back online. hope this stay this way.

On a side note, I applied this unifi gtom Rattan here. He really manage to get a fast installation date for me within 1 week. Kudos to him. I have no hesitation to recommend Rattan to anyone who wants to install unifi.

BTW I'm from penang.

Near Zoo Negara, kira Taman Melawati area.

I tried calling my friends around the area to check, but I'm guessing they're busy which is why no response.
Thats why I asked here. What area of ampang are you?

I was wondering if anyone knows the average time it takes from ordering Unifi till the actual installation?

Both internet & IPTV no problem ! nod.gif
Testing still in progress, need further fine-tune with ASUS team, beta will be release soon, stay tuned.

My respect & thanks to ASUS team for their continuous strong support effort in making the very first Broadcom gigabit router to support UniFi, you guys really rock ! notworthy.gif

Oh my.. since like my ASUS RT-N13U going to happen the same with Dlink DIR-615..

I am using the same router, and facing the same problem.....
Strange, I remembered I've tested the N13U for at least 2 days and I don't have such issues.
Few things you need to re-check/re-confirm:

1. Use the latest custom firmware 8.22.23 & utility 7.28.2.3 HERE
2. Always perform "Factory Restore" BEFORE & AFTER flashing
3. Then setup as per HERE
4. Don't use auto channel, assign either 1,6 or 11 whenever possible; use 20MHz channel width
(Note: you may google for Xirrus application to check what channel your closest neighbourhood is using, assign at least 5 channels away from the closest. If 1,6,11 congested, for Ralink you may go 13 or 14)
5. For LAN setup, remember to enter the router's IP (eg, 192.168.1.1) as the gateway (default is blank) under DHCP
6. Try to assign smaller DHCP range (eg, from 101 to 150)
7. Try not to use the stock QoS function

It should work well. nod.gif

Assuming you've flashed, setup, connect cables correctly, please go to the System Log to see more detail, it's quite straight forward you may see some detail there.

Got VIP5 hooked up yesterday, the speed is superb I suppose, varies from 4.5mbps ~ 5+mbps. thumbup.gif

I'm based at Taman Lembah Keramat AU5 (borderline Wangsa Maju), so far my neighbours and my fellow Keramaters are having good connectivity.
Any of you live near my area should have good unifi when you subscribe.

Hi all,

I would like to seek advise from existing Unifi users... smile.gif

Is it worth the "gambling" to switch from Streamyx 4M package to Unifi VIP5?
I'm using Streamyx 4M without any problem, was worrying if the switch will give me more problem, thus, to regret?

Thanks in advance. biggrin.gif

10 times upload speed (512k vs 5m)

If you din upload, it doesn't matter much. But IF YOU DOES, it matters a lot. Now i always send file to friends... No longer need pendrive for smal files xD
10~20MB not a big prob. Upload like downloading. Another aspect that concern is the free calls. Unless u're on blockbuster then it makes no difference.

Thank you IwanAGP, I never notice the upload speed, and yes, faster upload speed is better.
Such as sending large email attachments, upload photos to online album etc... nod.gif

I wonder, when will Unifi be available in Kuching area? blink.gif It sucks enough that Streamyx is unstable but will the constant DC, it's just unbearable . cry.gif
