QUOTE(Zi-Tech @ Aug 27 2011, 12:52 AM) first of all please use the correct symbol for Bytes.... it might be confuse some people.... 8kbps = 1kBps.... B=bytes and b=bits.... of course when you use IDM, it will accelerate your download speed up to maximum bandwidth given by ISP or max bandwidth that setting on the server.... from IDM site "Internet Download Manager can accelerate downloads by up to 5 times due to its intelligent dynamic file segmentation technology. Unlike other download managers and accelerators Internet Download Manager segments downloaded files dynamically during download process and reuses available connections without additional connect and login stages to achieve best acceleration performance. " look at the bold part... that why IDM is very good in downloading...for the browser i think they just download without segmenting or maybe they has segmenting but not same as IDM way... err did u answered my question? i mean from the speedtest my connection seem normal but when comes to the DDL, the speed is quite disappointing or i should say SUCKss im wondering izit the router config problem or the problem is with tm/streamyx?? Speedtests are all done with local servers...
We should be questioning TM..are we buying packages which are local rated only?
At least conduct tests to Singapore, HK, Japan or LA. Places such as in Europe such as London, Berlin is understandable la..

Unifi will pull a new line for you so you don't need an existing telephone line like Streamyx. The unifi package will come with a telephone number which you can use like a regular phone line except that there is no service when there is no power.

Actual cost of wiring within your premises depend on length, difficulty, concealed or surface, in casing or not, drilling, etc. You can either negotiate and settle with the contractor or have the cost put into your first bill. For most premises should be less than RM200 but I know of people who have been scalped for RM500. Depends on your negotiating skills. If the contractor is too unreasonable tell him you want in in your bill and he will probably become more reasonable.

is better put in first bill. my experience when install land line.. they charge me cash then they bill me first month also. so become double charge. i goto tm point, the CS unable to explain to me. i bring together the cash bill receipt then ask the CS , WHY have a special charge similar to this receipt amount. The CS response, this is special charge only charge you first time for service. but never explain what service. i check with my friends, they also the same situation, charge 2 time same amount.
