After jacking up the rear, try moving the tire, there should be some slight play.

Most shops can do it, because wheel bearings are generic in nature.

High speed sound could be anything......are you even sure the sound is coming from the rear and is it exactly to one side ?

Other then noise any other sensations ?.

Anyways here goes....

1) rear differential (when was the fluid last changed) this is 4WD model right ?

2) drive shafts (dunno if your rear drive shafts wear boots not)

3) rubber mounts for central drive shaft

4) main drive shaft out of balance

EXTREME IDEAS...

4) faulty pressure valve causing the brakes to pinch sweat.gif

5) door seals blow out at high speed sweat.gif

6) I can go on forever.......

Sorry no I am not a mechanic neither do I own a car workshop. I am an enthusiast, petrol head etc etc.

the sound is quite obvious.. from rear, not so sure..
i was go to workshop, they say bearing faulty.. their way to prove is, when jacked up, the rear wheel is spin, and there is a click sound @ absorber on driver side, but another no..

1,2,3,4) no idea.. have to ask back..
extreme idea) quite sure not a brake squeeze sound, not door seal prob..

RM700 O_O''''''''' what bearing is he using ?

Get a quotation then get a second/third/fourth opinion from another mechanic.

You should ask HERE. Its model specific.

Some rough idea HERE

And I did a rough search for you here.

Google not difficult to use la. A lot of tards here trying to over simplify the solution.

to confirm either is bearing is damage is so easy. Jack up your car, make sure the wheel not touching the ground and use hand to spin your tyre with another hand touching the absorber. If the bearing damage, you can feel slightly vibration on the absorber.

already mentioned earlier. the 'vibration' is not at the 'absorber' but its more of a loose feeling at the core of the rim.

@lot101
thank you very much, you save me, i do search at rav4world also.. but then i found out from the thread say the sound is caused by the things above exhaust..

and 2nd opinion quoted me >700 ori toyota part
3rd opinion say 450 with china-make bearing only, not include labour cost

@worktalks
life is precious, but money is limited

@singchaii
oki, get it, thats the mechanic told me.. to hold the absorber. smile.gif

no one can judge if it's expensive or reasonable because every car's wheel bearing cost differently
with or without magnet(depends on car) also cost differently

I did remembered change my vios dugong rear wheel bearing at rm500 with installation.. the parts itself is rm450, its come together with ABS sensor too..
And rear wheel bearing usually is more expensive then front
