ISP/package: Unifi
Location: Cheras
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: Yup, nothing helpfull

Personal equipment
Modem: Given by Unifi
Router: Given by Unifi
Firewall used: Default

Problem details
First occurence of problem: Last month
Problem frequency: Everytime
Problem description:
Ever since I got my Unifi, I try to use my Samsung Galaxy S2 to connect via wifi. The phone is connected but the line is really slow, to a point I cant surf google webpage. I tried it on my neighbour (Which is Streamyx) there is no problem at all. Is there a Unifi setting I should tweak? I tried calling Unifi, but they say it is my phone problem, even though I told them I tried it on my neighbour's streamyx that there is no problem. Even on public wifi like starbucks, my s2 had no prob, just my home's unifi.

I have even try to change "Band Width from 20 to 20/40. Did not work.
Change some channels, not working as well.

Help!!!!! ><"

hi, so sorry hearing ur problem.. i by no mean technician or anything, just im looking forward to buy this hp and googling for any problem that occur to this hp.. this is a collection of possible solution gathered from the net.. hopefully u can try any of this solution and tell us your progress.. please dun ask me how to change router, channel or anything posted in my post, coz seriously, i myself dun really fully understand the instruction.. maybe u can share after u try all this..

please try one by one

1. Go to wifi settings-press menu button – Advanced – sleep policy, and make sure NEVER is ticked.

2. search for “wifi fixer”, "FXR Wifi fix and rescue" or another app “wifi static” through the android market

3. upgrade the router to latest firmware

4. For those with poor connection quality, try to connect using 802.11g only, not ‘n’. That’s what I have found.

5. I experimented by changing my wireless N router’s radio channel and frequency setting to a fixed 2.447 Ghz and Bingo ! It worked.

6. after 5days of trouble shooting I tried something a little different, I saved my mac address in my router under wireless connections, and I am now finnaly getting what I paid for, so happy now. let us no if this helps

7. used wifi analyser (free android app) and found that my router channel overlapped with router from next door. Moved my router to an open channel and my GS2 seems to connect fine now. Like any radio/CB, you dont want to be interfering with other channels. Find one that is free and then use your web browser and dive into your wireless modem and choose an optimum channel between 1-14 (depending on country and router). You must remember that an optimum channel can still have interference from other devices. Eg 2.4 ghz cordless phones / 2.4 ghz tv transmitters etc..

8. i have a simple solution to the wifi problem your all experiencing. basically with your wifi connection at home, get into the routers administrators setting followed by the wireless settings. here you will have to find the channel settings and i believe by default its usually on auto. you now need to change the channel setting to a number between 1 – 14, depending on the router. its best to select the channel which is best for your home, if you don’t know it just try each one. changing this will not affect your laptops connection or anything connected to through wifi..

I had the same Unifi WIFI Router problem with my SGT 10.1. After few day of troubleshooting on the problem, I added in one more WIFI Router as a WIFI access point from the current TMnet router. MY SGT10.1 connected to new WIFI, then the problem was resolved.

This is the problem of the router that has been set to b/g mode, it got less range and many problems as I did.
The fix is:
log in to your router using PC : 192.168.0.1
Default username: admin
Password: blank or admin i think?

Then go to Advanced, Advanced Wireless, and change the b/g to b/g/n or n only if your house devices all capable to 802.11n

If you got iphone, then change the 20/40hz (Auto) to 20Mhz, because iphone is not capable to 40Mhz and get disconnect.

Then click save setting, then reboot, and anything get fine (Usually) icon_rolleyes.gif

I have same problem with my Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000...
It's working when I'm in office....BIZ5 using router DIR-615...
At home with VIP5 (router is black and printed TMnet on it), it's always have connection problem...download file always drop connection halfway, worse than my Digi RM68 3G plan....

But! Thanks to jaypah89 rclxms.gif ...I tried his way...particularly change 802.11gbn to 802.11gb. (without n, changing 20/40GHz to 20GHz doesn't help)...

How? (This is for TMnet black router interface, DIR-615 looks different)
1. Go to http://192.168.0.1
2. Username: admin, password: (blank, just click enter if it's default setting)
3. There is a top horizontal tab: "Status, Wizard, Setup, Advance, Wireless, Management", click Wireless.
4. There is another left vertical tab: "Basic, SSID Configuration, WPS Configuration, Advanced", click Basic.
5. Mode combobox, change to 802.11gb.

Hope it works for you guys. smile.gif

Go to the wireless router setting, and change the encryption setting to use WPA2 or WPA instead of WEP.

Dear All,

I did some research for days and test on my TMRND Black router/modem with my galaxy note.
Afer adjust some of the setting, it work fine on Whatsapp, Viber, Facebook app, Youtube.

You can try the below setting, hope it help you.

1.) Login to your router.
Open Internet Explorer, type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar
(192.168.0.1 is the default setting, unless you change the IP)
2.) Goto 'Wireless' Tab, Click the 'Advance'
3.) Change the DTIM to 1

If still got problem, Play aroudn the setting in 'Wireless' -> 'Basic':
(You need to change these setting to test around)
1.) Change the Channel to 8 or other number.
2.) Change the Band Width to 20 Mhz
3.) Change the Mode to 802.11BG or 802.11BG

thanks for the input cakewey, DTIM on my router was set to 100....with a beacon interval of 100ms.. which meant my wifi devices were ocassionally sleeping for 10 secs! am not sure if these are the default values though.. and can't be bothered to do a factory reset to see if thats the case

Have read that setting it to 1 will definitely solve the problem, though it'll be taxing on the connecting devices as their wifi modules will pretty much be powered all the time. Should be able to tweak around that value to get to a middle ground between connectivity and battery life.
