Just bought 6,000 share in Tower Reit. My portfolio is currently underweight in Real Estate. Need to rebalance it. Tower Reit, IMO is better than others.

When you say equity, is it inclusive of shares and equity unit trusts funds? Or just shares?
*
To me UT that invest in share, I clasify as equities since their underlying asset class is the same.

QUOTE(kuekwee)
Normally people will put high risk lower % while lower risk higher %. Eq.
60% FD 30% Equity 10% HYI
. Equity/Bond/REIT risk are quite close.
Your 1st statement is false. The % of asset allocation is based on risk tolerance and is correlated with age grouping. It has no correlation with normal or abnormal.

Your 2nd statement is false. The measurement of risk is Standard Deviation from the mean. The datas that I have on hand indicate that risk of equity > reit > bond, and they are not that close.

Stareit drop drastically @@

The D/Y for STAREIT even after dropping to the level is still not attractive for me.

So far I have in my portfolio: 7700 ARREIT, 6000 AMFIRST, 6000 TWREIT and will be collecting 6700 QCAP at the end of this month.

I am OVERWT on REIT & MYR Denominated BOND at the moment due to the volatility and uncertainty.

My REIT collection continues.

ARREIT x 7700 in Jul-10
TWREIT x 6000 in Sep-11
AMFIRST x 6000 in Oct-11

Today [9/11/11]
add another
ARREIT x 8000

Was thinking abt QCAP, but too expensive liao. STAREIT next month perhaps.

Also, why is there so little analyst coverage on AHP?

Bro, no balls was in end 2008 until 1st qtr 2009 tongue.gif
i remember getting into TWRREIT at below $0.90, then $0.90 then $1.00 hheheh.
Most of the REITs' gross DY% during those daze were like 10% and 12% (TWRREIT, HEKTAR, UOAREIT)
Good times for shooting fishes in a barrel - sigh.. old souls like me like those kinda odds  rclxms.gif .
*
Was already in those market during that time. Yeah, I remember buying TWREIT at RM 1.00 as well during those times.

But in early 2009, I went back into equities and got out in late 2009. Needed the money because my biz took a hit for the worse. Now time is better, going back in for some passive income.

Me too, I have been queing @RM 0.86 since Monday.

If she remains recalcitrant, maybe I'll have to up my ante. RM 0.865 or RM 0.87 also can consider.

I am quening for 20,000 units, you macam mana?

My quota for REIT as an asset class has reached its target allocation. It shall be MYR Denominated Short Term Corporate Bonds starting from next month until I reach my targeted asset allocation weighting.

Sukuks anyone?

Year high also for TWR, along with Hektar.

Yar lor... I am one of those sor-chai for buying Hektar at its peak.... @RM 1.37. But today Hektar annouced a 3cts distribution, so my actual cost is RM 1.34.

I still recall I bought my TWREIT @ RM 1.20 abt two mths ago. Now RM 1.37 liao ar? REITS should not behave this way, they are suppose to be like slow and steady wan wor....

But I am not selling it b'coz this section of my portfolio is to give me periodic passive income.

Possibilities: more people "wants in" on REITs? due to fears/uncertainty + QE primed cash looking for assets?
Where's my crystal ball....  doh.gif
*
Another possiblity: People like WongMunKeong, Neo, myself et al have been buying this asset class and that is why the price has been going up up & up. tongue.gif

Serious reply: REIT as an asset class has been more in the radar of investor starting from 2011. There are more media exposure on this asset class. The StarBiz, The Edge and Personal Money all ran article on this asset class not too long ago.
