Assets = Liabilities + Shareholders' equity

Loans are part of liabilities, so gearing ratio can't be more than 100%, right  rclxub.gif

REITs in Malaysia are indeed limited by Bank Negara to a gearing of 50%. But it is certainly possible for companies to have gearing ratios of over 100%. All banks do this for example.

AMFirst Rights Issue

http://announcements.bursamalaysia.com/EDM...79?OpenDocument

Anyone with experience can advise on what are the options of action for those who want to take it up or renounce it?
*
Does the renounceable right expire? When does it expire?

QUOTE(ronnie @ Jun 26 2012, 09:34 AM)
Let's say I have been allocated 10,000 shares of AMFIRST-OR.
If I exercise the rights (not selling), I need to pay RM8,300 to get 10,000 shares of AMFIRST.
Is this correct view ?
*
Also another question, because I'm allocated 3 rights issues for every 5 AMFIRST shares, if I exercise it all and buy everything, that would result in odd lots right?

Just curious

Anybody's portfolio has the following Retail/Shopping Mall's Reits?

1) CMMT (Gurney Plaza, Sg Wang, Mines, East Coast Mall)

2) SUNREIT (Sunway Pyramid, Sunway Carnival, Suncity Ipoh, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Pyramid Tower Hotel, Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya, Menara Sunway, Sunway Tower)

3) PAVREIT (Pavillion, Pavillion Tower)

Soon coming in September is IGBREIT (Mid Valley, Gardens)

And in the discussion is KLCCReits.
*
I have 20k units of CMMT. I have STAREIT too but I guess it doesn't count as a retail sector REIT any more. I have a question of my own. Usually the advice is not to overload on REITs of one sector, i.e. you shouldn't buy more than one REIT from a single sector because technically they are competitors to each other. What do others think?

sifus,

please enlighten me. let's say im entitled to receive the allotment of RI from amfirst, because im holding their shares. Do i have to pay 0.83 only from the allotment from AMFIRST or do i have to pay 0.83 + amfirst-TR curent price ?

Thx in advance.
*
I'm not sure what you mean by entitled. By now the AMFIRST-TR should already be in your account if you are entitled to them. If you choose to exercise the rights issue, you must pay RM0.83 for each rights issue you want to exercise. You only need to pay for more AMFIRST-TR if you want more than what you have already been allocated.

Got it wankongyew. Thanks !  biggrin.gif

Note that trading of AMFIRST-TR stops on 17th July so anyone who doesn't want to exercise them must sell them off before that date. For those who do choose to exercise, the final date of payment is 25th July.

Confirmed additional AMFIRST (from Rights Issue conversion) shares is in my CDS on 7 August 2012
*
I can confirm that I received it too. Unfortunately, as a CIMB iTrade user, it seems to me that they added the new shares at a cost of 0 (instead of RM0.83) and now it has completely messed up the average purchase price and consequently the unrealized profit/loss for my AMFIRST shares. My average purchase price of AMFIRST is now RM0.68, which is of course completely unrealistic.

i have 257700 unit of Hektar. meaning, i will be entitled for 257700x0.25 = 64425 unit @ 1.25 = RM 80531

need to find more money now!

this is second time right issue. first was AMREIT
*
You have nearly RM400k in just HEKTAR. Impressive. Presumably you have even more in AXREIT, suggesting over 1 million in REITs. And here I was scared that I'm holding too much REITs. AXREIT alone accounts for more than half of my unrealized gains to date.

Eh, what's up with AXREIT? Looks like it's crazily overpriced. I'm tempted to sell now.
