hey guys, im new here biggrin.gif and i absolutely love playing pool haha. Wantng to learn snooker though.. Pretty hard for me to pot, given i not really good in pool also... sad.gif anyway, nice knowing here laugh.gif

Added on August 10, 2011, 3:46 pmoh ya, one question here wink.gif

I know of a concept to pot the ball. So it is like , if u wan the ball to move at this way, u have to hit right at back of the ball opposite of that direction. So, i used to cue to aim to ball into the pocket and i aimed my cueball towards knocking the back.

Is there any other concept? I mean, damit, the pro pool/snooker players, no need aim, see only also so accurate... anyone got any other technique? haha

Btw, im from Klang. anyone? smile.gif

for starters/beginners, thats the way to aim, which is finding the right contact point on the ball. The other way which is similar to your method is the 'ghost ball' method. You have to place an imaginary ball behind the object ball which has to be aligned straight towards the pocket. This imaginary ball is where you need your cue ball to hit the object ball.

Once you able to pot the balls, you will automatically register that shot into your head, so next time u faced with similar shot, you know where to hit without needing to aim so long. Thats why the pros no need to aim. becos they put hours and hours of practice a day on the same shots.... it's become second nature to them... next step is muscle memory to know how hard to cue the ball in order to get to the position for the next shot.

if u free on fridays, do join my club for snooker sessions at Red Ball. we have around 10 active members who gather to practice and play each week. after that, a yumcha session nearby just to chit chat...  i posted the link to our club page already in this thread. cheers!

hey dude, thanks for the info. and thanks for the invitation too, but too bad it's not convinient for me to travel to puchong. If around Klang area then can..
Anyway, can i have another question? smile.gif I want to ask about draw shots or also known as "tarik" lol. I dunno why, everytime i aim at the bottom of the cue, i can't even pot the ball, it just goes senget... sweat.gif i set up straight shots to practice but the same thing happens over and over again. Any idea why? Additional notes, it only happens on the pool table, i have no problem on the snooker table

pool and snooker are different in terms of stroke and knowledge. if u wanna learn pool why not mix again some pool kaki and start learning? there are two golden break branchs. one in klang and another in klang meru. both competition are all over. u should come watch it will be on the 17th. international players are here to fight for the champion. USD7000!

actually not far la  icon_rolleyes.gif . i have friends who come from semenyih and nilai to golden break sunway so that we can play together biggrin.gif

hm, i think i realise my mistake.. somehow while playing pool, my stroke is not straight when releasing the cue... I tried the close bridge, it pulls perfectly. but witth the open bridge, it bends.

hey guys! got a question here. when i use the closed bridge, it doesn't seem steady at all. If we are trying to hit the middle or top of the ball, we have to raise the lsat 3 fingers supporting the bridge right? Problem for me is, it's shaky when i stroke, is this suppose to happen? If not, what are the solutions to this?

my closed bridge is thumb and index finger looping over the cue, and the lsat 3 fingers are used as a stand. sometimes the 4th finger i bend it a little and rest it on the table at the "middle part" of the finger
