Has anyone think of why bank such as CIMB/PBB/MBB offer this 6 months zero interest free BT? what will they earn if there is no default interest earn? all payments are paid on time by the credit card holder.

i can see it is more for publicty...

there is a cost of fund in the banking industry, i.e. KLIBOR, this is the cost of fund that they need to pay for within the banking industry. With the BT zero interest for 6 months, those who is savvy and discpline in fund management can easily take advantage of it. Can put the money in PNB Funds, Bond Fund or top up OD account to gain the interest difference.

this is the answer that i can think of, posting here open for discussion...maybe those who are from the banking industry can enligten us. i may not be 100% right.

Has CIMB/Maybank/ RHB extended its BT?

I called cimb/ DA 2 days ago. They said they are not going to extend the BT. Imagize if everyone pay ontime after 5 months, they hv nothing to gain. I think they are also in line with BNM policy to tighten the consumer credit.

Been using Citi bank card for > 15 years, Citibank never offer me as well. I called the Customer Service and they said only Marketing Department can invite the customer for BT, when i ask if i can talk to Mktg department direct, was replied that we cannot call Mktg dpt direct and only Mktg dpt can call us, like hidden operation....why they make it so secretive?

HLB is offering BT 0% for 6 months accross the board. No need to be selected.

next time when u buy RM60 goods u ask the merchandiser to swap your card 60 times, each time RM1 transaction. Then it will fulfill their requirement.
