i can see it is more for publicty...

there is a cost of fund in the banking industry, i.e. KLIBOR, this is the cost of fund that they need to pay for within the banking industry. With the BT zero interest for 6 months, those who is savvy and discpline in fund management can easily take advantage of it. Can put the money in PNB Funds, Bond Fund or top up OD account to gain the interest difference.

Has anyone think of why bank such as CIMB/PBB/MBB offer this 6 months zero interest free BT? what will they earn if there is no default interest earn? all payments are paid on time by the credit card holder.

I do not think why they offer such package.

For me, I use the BT and paid RM50 GST for a new CC from CIMB.

Just to make simple calculation, excluding those monthly payment, daily-rest interest, etc.

Let's say I BT 10k for 6 months 0%
The 10k I put into my flexi house loan, let's say BLR-xx = 5% (rounded up, simpler calculation to show here).

Interest saved from housing loan
= (6 / 12 months) x 5% x 10k
= RM250 saved.

Net savings
= 250 - 50 GST
= RM200 saved.

I can come up with the exact figures if you need it, but a bit busy right now.

I must change my perception on Maybank's efficiency when handling Balance Transfer!
I emailed all the scanned images of forms and statements to mbbcardservices@maybank.com.my on last saturday (16/7/2011), just three working days, payment already made to recipient bank ! this is even faster than DirectAccess !

What kind of application form that we need to fill for this BT to BT application?

This is my plan, but I not too sure whether it works or not.

I'm going to BT from Maybank to CIMB for 6 months 0%.

After the application is successful, then I transfer CIMB BT back to Maybank 12 months 0%.

Is it possible? Will this action affect my CRISS report? Kindly advise smile.gif

Standard BT Application Form. You really wasting time, transfer here and then there. You should have just charge to CIMB and balance transfer to MBB 12 months because you need to do BT with MBB before end of this year.

As for CCRIS got no idea but for my case I have been dong BT for years and so far it has not affected my application for CC. But you got to know, for my case, the amount of BT I do at any one time is like less than 5% of all my credit facilities.
