Hi guys,

I have given my old SGS to a family member to use.

I would like to flash a stable ROM with minimal bugs and lag.

Is Stock XXJVQ, followed by Speedmod K15I kernel, then apply EXT4 lagfix the way to go?

Thanks

Hi guys,

Need some help here:

I have flashed my SGS with Stock ROM XXJVQ and then flashed with Chainfire Root.

Question 1
I would like to install a keyboard with dictionary...any suggestion where I can find it. Found 1 or 2 from XDA forum but when tried to install, it doesn't work.

Question 2
I installed the EXT4 tools from Chainfire. Trying to convert to EXT4. During conversion of RFS system to EXT4 failed, citing not enough space. How to get more space for system? Delete apps or delete files like photos, music etc?

Thanks

I can answer question 2:
Remove ringtones you never used in /system. Or remove some system apps like lcdtest or fonts like choco fonts (that you never used) to free up like ~4-5MB.
Thanks for the tips. I will try tonight.

Have you tried converting to EXT4 yourself? Are you happy with the performance? Any stability issue?

mine: R-230,G-230,B-270.  gamma: R-40,G-43,B-34(note as long as you follow the ratio then the color will be almost the same)
i would like to, but i need more setting.
q1 : if not mistaken android keyboard with dictionary right? just go into setting>keyboard for setting. or you can get any 3rd party keyboard like go keyboard.
Q2: deleted the Aldiko eBook app from /system/app if didnt install it, follow the method mention by pikachu01

I'm looking for a keyboard (used to come with Criskelo ROM) with a dictionary that appears at the top of the keyboard. When you start typing, there are words being suggested at the top of the keyboard...

Currently with Stock XXJVQ, I only have Samsung keypad and Swype in the Input Method option....no Gingerbread or Android keypad.

Delete Aldiko? Okay, will try that too.

Hopefully converting to EXT4 will not give me any problems sweat.gif

Been using Ext4 for a long time. No problems so far.

I'm a Talon kernel user. Since the dev updated the kernel with a lot of Ext4 upstream fixes (from the Linux kernel like Ubuntu), ext4 is really flying for me.

You mean besides EXT4 conversion in Chainfire kernel, I can also flash Talon kernel via Odin which will also enable me to convert to EXT4?

Use Root Explorer or free ones like File Expert to delete it in /system/apps or /system/media/audio/ringtones.

You are looking at something like Gingerbread Keyboard?
*
Ya, something like Gingerbread keyboard. I used to have 2 Gingerbread keyboard apk file but failed to install this time round, citing some issues with "script" or something...guess I need to find newer apk file for XXJVQ.

I will also check out Market to see whether there are any good similar keyboard apps...
